My Way To You - Chapter 346
“Yes my princess!” Xue shouted as she got up and bowed her head. “Disgusting.” Princess Momo muttered as she disappeared into the forest.
Xue was exhausted, she barely slept when she got back. Xue’s day always started at 4:00 in the morning. She needed to tend to the princess and prepare everything before hand in anticipation of her highness’s awakening. Even though princess Momo always woke up late, Xue diligently orginzed the princess’s day.
Xue would look over the princess’s schedule that she wrote out the night before. She would then pick out three sets of outfits for the princess plus complimenting accesories. Though Princess Momo had no hair, beautiful black wigs would be used to make elaborate hair styles. Xue would personally wash, comb and dry the wigs and have them ready for when the princess was ready to dress.
Xue would then bring in water from the purified, imperial well located on the other side of the imperial palace and take the water back to the princess’s room. She always used a shoulder pole to carry the buckets back but when the princess found out about Xue’s little life hack she had the pole destroyed. Xue was ordered to bring the water back one bucket at a time. The whole trip took Xue 45 minutes to do, every morning and night.
When the tub in the princess’s room was filled Xue would light a small fire to heat up the water. She would then add the princess’s favourite oils and flowers to the bath. After she was done she would leave the fire on and then go to the kitchen and inspect the food being made. She always made sure that the staff followed the strict diet the princess needed.
9 times out of 10 the staff would sneak in sugar to the meals to make it sweater but Xue would catch them and make them redo the whole dish again. The staff would grumble and even curse her for denying their princess sweat food. The princess complained that Xue only made her eat disgusting food and sweats were banned.
The staff became enraged and had become openly hostile towards Xue. While Xue would take their insults and patiently wait until the meals were done. Then she would have the meals delivered to the room. The servents that help her would put the food outside of the princess’s room and leave immediately making Xue set everything up on the table.
Xue would then check on the bath. If it was hot she would snuff the flames out but if it was warm she would stoke the flames instead. The princess like to have hot baths instead of warm ones and if the bath wasn’t hot enough she would fly into a tantrum. Xue would then go back to the bedroom door and kneel. She would patiently wait for princess Momo to wake while her stomach grumbled.
Xue was not allowed to eat. Not until the princess was awake and even then it was only to sample her food for posion. Since Xue was a snake their was no worry of her dying from posion and was considered valuable. However it didn’t mean she was completley immune to poison. If it was a strong poison Xue would feel immense pain and feel like she was dying but no one cared or bothered to take care of her.
They would always toss her into a corner and wait until the poison passed through her body. It could take 2 to 3 hours to pass, sometimes 5 if it was a complex poison. Xue hated the job but no one from the snake clans would ever allow a snake into the palace to act as a handmaid to a royal. It is considered an insult and shameful act to the snake and their family but then again Xue’s family never regarded her as one of them. She was an albino and they were emerald green.
A light noise came from Princess Momo’s bed. Xue lowered her head and clasped her hands. Waiting to her another sound. When she heard princess Momo groan as she stretched Xue would greet the princess. “Good morning my princess. May the grace of Vita bless you today and grant you wisdom and beauty.”
Princess Momo would pull back the pink, sheer canopy and sat up. She would never acknowledge Xue’s greeting but Xue moved quickly. She would rush to the princess’s side and help her up and wrap her body in her morning robe. She wopuld then walk behind the princess until they reached the dinning table. The princess would sit on her plushed cushioned seats and wait for Xue to taste her breakfast.
Xue would cut off a sample size of each plate and place the food on a shabby wooden plate and eat with a wooden fork. As always Xue would eat the vegetable dishes first and keep the meat dishes last. She hated the meat dishes the most and had always felt sick after she ate it. Sometimes she threw up the meal so she always kept it last, hoping if she threw it up it was only the meat and not the vegetables that left.

“Wait Davita.” Ariana interrupted as she looked at her Luma quizzically. “Snakes are carnivores while gazels are herbivores. So why is their meat?” Ariana asked. Davita smiled. ‘See in that world roles were switched.’ Davita replied. “I’m sorry what?” Ariana said in disbelief. ‘All the meat eaters in my world are vegetarians. So eating meat made me sick. I was eating my own kind, snake meat is considered a delicacy.’
…..
After Xue confirmed that there was no poison she would back away a few steps and watch princess Momo eat her meat dishes with vigour.
….
“Nope, Nope, nooooo. I’m sorry but that is sick.” Ariana interrupted again as her face turned green. ‘Is it really? You eat pig and they are omnivores.’ Davita pointed out. “Don’t want to think about it.” Ariana grumbled. ‘What about seafood? They ate other fish and creatures is the thought really that bad if you enjoy the food so much?’ Davita asked. “Stop it.” Ariana said as she gagged.
‘Alright but I felt the same way until I came here…..’

After the princess ate Xue would get the princess ready for the day. They would then leave the room and follow Xue’s written out schedule. Greet his royal Highness, classes, tea parties, walks, lunch, more classes, snack time, music, visiting friends, crafts, tea parties again, evening classes and then dinner.
