My Way To You - Chapter 386
“And will talking keep Edlyn by my side?” Xander asked doubtfully. “Yes Xander! Talking will keep Edlyn by your side because you are communicating! She won’t have to guess what’s going on in your partner’s head or feel anxious about what their hiding! She won’t start doubting your motives or let her mind wander into some weird explanations she made up about the facts she comes across with or go insane with anxiety! Maybe if you open up to her you might become, well I don’t know, more human! Maybe you can express yourself more?! So be a man and talk to the one you love!” Ariana ranted.
Rahul and Xander gawked at Ariana. While Ariana blushed. She knew she was just projecting her feelings onto Edlyn but she knew deep down, Edlyn would have felt the same way. Cayden was hiding too much and to leave Xander, a huge threat to watch over her was something she could not understand.
“Talk to her… Alright. I will do that.” Xander said as he got up from the ground. “Right and if she thinks you can’t be cured well I guess I’m your food for the rest of your life.” Ariana sighed as she started to feel guilty. She could have tried to cure him but she was pissed that Rahul had some sort of plan for her. “I will see you again.” Xander said as he bowed then took his leave.
“Why is he part of your plan?” Ariana asked bitterly without turning to look at Rahul. ‘I was a general for a mighty army back in my nephew’s Kingdom.’ Rahul started. “That’s not what I asked!” Ariana hissed. ‘He wanted us to conquer the West Nation but we were completely unmatched. We needed more strength, we needed power beyond man’s imagination, we needed to turn our men into demons.’ Rahul continued, completely ignoring Ariana’s question.
Ariana tried to get up but she didn’t have the strength. She cursed Xander for taking too much of her power as she struggled to pry herself off of Rahul’s body. “This was part of your plan wasn’t it?! You knew I was going to be drained and I couldn’t escape from your story.” Ariana growled between gritted teeth.
‘I never knew that following my nephew without doubt, without even a second thought nor questioning his orders. I, Jiro Longwei, made a deal with the devil and murdered all my men.’ Rahul continued nonchalantly. “No. Stop it! I won’t listen! Rahul, you’re trash! The biggest jerk in history! I will find a way to get away from you and,”
‘And what?!’ Rahul shouted interrupting Ariana’s rant. ‘What can someone like you do without the help of others? Yes, I know I am lower then low, I know my mistakes and I am making sure that the ones that matter the most are saved! You think you are some poor puppet stumbling and tripping over the strings of fate when you are in fact making your own path of destruction!’
‘You stupid child! Leave behind that pride of yours and look at the bigger picture! If you can not just let go of your ego and look at things calmly, you will destroy everything you hold dear! Especially when you come face to face to with certain truths! Ariana, shut up and let me tell my tale!’ Rahul yelled as he scruched up his snout in fury. He fashed his fangs as an ominous growling sound resonated deep within his belly.
Ariana stoped stuggling, she dropped her head in shame and bit her lower lip. Rahul sighed as he dropped his gaze to the ground. He was getting too emtional, he knew that it was a lot for someone so young to understand. He lifted his gaze to the sky and blinked a few times, giving Ariana a few more minutes to compose herself.
“Okay.” She said weakly. Rahul brought his head back down and started his story again. ‘At the time I was a glorious young man. I was only 28 years old and had been formally engaged to my beautiful strategist, Sanoko Tu, a fair maiden with a mind like no other. She had beautiful, black, silken hair and slate grey eyes, tiny lips and sharp, inquisitive eyes. She was not my first love but I saw her as my eternal love….’
…..
“We must gain more power if we are to ever conquer the devils of the West Nation.”
“No we must unite the Nations through a political marriage! Just like we did with the North!”
“Don’t be so head strong with your political marriage nonsense! When our mighty Emporer takes the final Nation under his control he will choose his own bride!”
“Can we not recruit more men into the army? I hear there are even women who are showing great potential.”
“Who would trust a woman to help save and expand our great Kingdom!”
A fair skinned man looked down at an older looking gentleman who last spoke. His sharp eyes glared with a fiece, cold aura that it made the man quiver in fear. “Careful Prime Minister Qui… You must not forget who’s strategies have given our Kingdom countless victories.” The man said as he pushed back his long, silver hair.
“Forgive me insolence, my Emperor. I spoke without consideration.” Prime Minster Qiu said as he brought his hands together and bowed. “It is not I whom you should be bowing too but my beloved, soon-to-be aunt Tu.” The Emperor said with a snarky chuckle. Prime Minster Qiu gritted his teeth as he shifted is body, without lifting his head towards Tu’s general direction.
“Miss Sanoko, please bestow forgiveness to this foul mouthed old man.” The Prime Minister said loudly. Sanoko looked at the Prime Minister then to the man sitting beside her. He was a well built man with an elegant and charming face. His sleek, black hair pulled to the back in a single ponytail while his medium fringe framed hs face.
The man nodded his head the moment their eyes met. Sanoko smiled before turning to the Emperor. “My Emperor, I may have a solution to our problem.”
