My Way To You - Chapter 399
“Why?” Ariana asked. Rahul sighed then rolled onto his chubby back, he brought up his face and signaled with his eyes that he wanted Ariana to rub his belly. Ariana rolled her eyes and started to rub Rahul’s stomach. Rahul let out a deep sigh of satisfaction before starting again. ‘She wanted to brag about how her world was developing and no one else was willing to listen to her.’
Ariana collapsed onto Rahul. “Is she some sort of child?” Ariana groaned. ‘Among all of us, yes she is the youngest.’ Rahul said as he placed a paw on top of Ariana’s head. Patting her so she would get up and start rubbing his belly again. “So what did she do exactly?” Ariana asked.
‘She took my story and made a variation of her own. She summoned souls from other realms and brought them to her own world so she could further develop her world.’ Rahul explained. “Did it work?” Ariana asked. ‘You met some. What do you think?’ Rahul asked as he peeked at Ariana. “They are oppressed.” Ariana mumbled. ‘Exactly and she was excited.’ Rahul said. Ariana’s jaw dropped and her hand stopped moving which was just as well, Rahul was done being petted.
‘She liked watching her people struggle and find ways to help everyone move forward. She was like, for lack of a better analogy, a child in a candy shop. Her eyes were sparkling and she also decided to take in a pet.’ Rahul said with obvious disgust. “Vasu…” Ariana whispered. ‘That’s right. She thought she found a kindred spirit and decided to make him into the first Luma. She was so happy with herself that I couldn’t help but use my power on her.’ Rahul said.
“Your power?” Ariana asked. “Clairvoyance. Tora had a form of it that is how he could access people’s memories and astro project others but when we combined. It intensified the natural abilities and I perfected it when I became an a.d.u.l.t.’ Rahul explained. “So you used your clairvoyance and what did you see?” Ariana asked. ‘Destruction.’ Rahul replied without hesitation. A chill ran down Ariana’s spine, a cold autumn breeze passed by her cheek and a soft whisper calmed her down.
Ariana looked around but saw no one around. Rahul looked at Ariana and waited for her to give him her full attention. When Ariana brought back her gaze she gave Rahul a weak smile. “I thought I heard something.” Ariana admitted. Rahul stared at Ariana then sighed. ‘It must have been the wind.’ Rahul said and Ariana mumbled her agreement but she couldn’t shake off the feeling that someone was watching her.
‘So I used my clairvoyance and saw nothing but destruction for her world and I told her so.’ Rahul started. Ariana’s eye focused on Rahul and she waited for him to continue. ‘The Goddess was not happy. At first she didn’t believe me and I told her about some incidents that were going to happen. She went back to her world in a rush and came back just as fast. Her face was pale and she shook from head to toe. She couldn’t stop it.’
‘She begged me to help her, she didn’t want her world to be destroyed, she didn’t want her children to die and most of all she didn’t want to lose her husband. He is not a holy being but a human bound to the realm of darkness. If the world was destroyed he would be killed along with it. So we spent hours trying to come up with plans on how to proceed. Despite my first impressions the Goddess was very determined to keep her world and she had no intentions of starting over.’ Rahul explained.
“So you are the reason all the other Lumas are in existence?” Ariana asked. ‘Yes.’ Rahul replied. “I can only see so far on my own. We needed to bring everyone we needed together before I could see the full outcome.” Rahul continued. “T-t-then you can tell me… you can tell me if my guess was true.” Ariana asked as her lips trembled and her eyes started to water. ‘I can.’ Rahul said with a firm head nod. “W-w-will y-y-you?” Ariana asked. Her trembling started to spread, soon her whole body was shaking.
‘You’re not ready to hear the whole truth.’ Rahul said flatly. Ariana choked out a sob. She knew Rahul wasn’t being cruel and she knew she wasn’t ready to hear it either but she got her answer either way. “Thank you.” She said as she embraced Rahul. “Thank you.” She cried again. Rahul said nothing and waited for Ariana’s sobs to calm down before he spoke again.
‘My clairvoyance ran into a wall.’ He said and Ariana flinched. ‘As I said before there is a variable that I could not see and before I took my role as a Luma I still could not see the outcome.’ Rahul said bitterly. “Who are you talking about?’ Ariana asked. ‘That boy Cayden. I have no idea what his purpose is or what he intends to do to you but what I do know is that he is dangerous.’ Rahul said as he pushed Ariana away and faced her.
‘Your role in this world is to determine if everyone lives or dies. The Goddess wishes with all her might that you will help save this world by any means necessary. If you take the path of destruction too far… we, the Lumas are to stop you… by any means necessary. As for my wish… Well I never needed a wish to be granted. The Goddess, she was or rather is too young to remove the curse off of the Longweis and I felt that my strength could be of use here. However to cross over here I had to give up my powers.’ Rahul explained.
“So you’re blindly following me?” Ariana asked. ‘That’s right. I came o this world at the very last second and saw your birth. Your birth was going to happen regardless of your father was.’ Rahul said. “Then why didn’t you stop those things from happening? Why did you let her die?!” Ariana shouted. Her face became flushed from anger but she still couldn’t bring herself to hate Rahul. ‘There are many roads one person can walk on and we hoped she wouldn’t be tempted but other paths.’
