My Way To You - Chapter 456
Cayden had no idea how long they walked for but they didn’t care. Under much debate and pouting on Ariana’s end they decided to piggy back each other after so many steps. Ariana wanted Cayden to rest just as she had rested on his back, it was only fair. They had been lucky so far and weren’t discovered yet but it didn’t mean that they wouldn’t be. So Cayden moved as fast as he could through the tunnels as Ariana rested on his back. When it was finally his turn Ariana moved as quietly as she could as she kept her steps steady.
The gently movement rocked Cayden slowly in to slumber and Ariana couldn’t have felt prouder. She wondered how much longer they had to walk through the tunnels before they made it into another room. Though they felt lucky that they hadn’t been caught they weren’t so lucky when it came to tunnel selections. They had run into dead ends, traps, roundabouts and even gates.
Ariana wished her grandmother had given her further instructions on how to get through the tunnels but at the same time she wondered if she wasn’t told because her grandmother hoped she would be with family if they had to escape. A slight stab struck her heart. The thought of family was too much and the moment. She didn’t hear what Loralei had to report about what was going on back home.
She wondered how Rin, Roy, her mother, the cafe girls and most importantly Sterling was doing. She hoped they were safe and wished to see them soon. Ariana continued to silently move along, lost in her thoughts as the sounds of her footsteps echoed along the corridor.
“Ariana? Ariana, how many steps have you taken?!” Cayden shouted as he woke up from a nap. “I still have a few hundred to go.” Ariana said awkwardly as she focused her gaze straight ahead. “Don’t lie! We had an agreement.” Cayden said bitterly as he tried to squirm off of Ariana’s back. “Wait! Hold on! I’m sorry, I’ll stop walking.” Ariana said as she stopped and let Cayden down.
“How many?” He asked as he stood cross armed in front of Ariana. “I rested so much wen I was on your back and you worked so hard. I mean, you know, you fell asleep on my back almost instantly. So I didn’t think it was a big deal….” Ariana said as she averted her gaze and played with the tips of her claws. “And last I remember, I asked you to wake me up after you walked your turn.” Cayden said as he furrowed his brows.
“But you were sleeping so peacefully. I didn’t have the heart to wake you up.” Ariana said with a pouty voice. “You couldn’t even see me?! How could you even know I was sleeping peacefully.” Cayden said in a low voice. “Well, you’re well rested now so I can take my turn now.” Ariana said with a wide grin.
“Adonis, why didn’t you wake me?” Cayden asked in a dark, murderous voice. “I tried but-?!” Adonis said but he felt a chill run down his body. Adonis stop talking instantly. Cayden looked at Ariana and caught sight of her glare.
Ariana gulped and changed her look right away to one of pure innocence. “So how many,” Cayden started to ask but a weird, slithering sound made him swallow his words. Ariana’s eyes grew wide and she quickly looked to the ground. Cayden didn’t waste time, he grabbed Ariana’s hand and started to run at full speed. “They found us?” Ariana asked as she ran beside Cayden.Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #%!d(string=12021185405774505)/tunnels-part-3_%!d(string=51122455732870496) for visiting.
“I don’t think so, well not yet at least. Just keep running.” Cayden shouted as they started to approach an archway. They ran through and found themselves in a wide room filled with more archways. “Are we in a different room now or is this the same one from before?” Cayden asked. “I think this is a different one.” Ariana said. “So which way?” Cayden asked. “Let me see, uhhm.” Ariana said as she looked into each archway. “What are you looking for?” Cayden asked as he tried to join. “A small, black lizard.” Ariana replied automatically.
The slithering sound started to get louder. “Lizard? I don’t think we have time to look anymore, we’ll have to just pick one.” Cayden said as he turned and scanned the room. “T-t-this one! It’s this one!” Ariana shouted as she pointed to the left. “Let’s go.” Cayden said as he grabbed her out stretched hand and ran. “What the hell?!” Cayden yelled as they ran into another wide room with five archways.
“No, no, this is good. I think we are almost out.” Ariana said as she let go of Cayden’s hand and started to scan the archways again. “Oh crap!” Cayden shouted and he backed away from the archway they came from. The slithering turned into small roar and it was coming in on them fast. “This way!” Ariana shouted.
They ran into the direction Ariana had said and found that it lead to a long corridor. They kept running as the thing behind them kept chasing. “There are multiple archways! How the hell is it following us?!” Ariana asked. “Not sure but look there’s another one.” Cayden said as they closed in on another archway. They picked up speed and found themselves in another room but this time it only had three archways.
“Here.” Ariana said and pulled Cayden to the right. They rushed through and Ariana swung Cayden to the wall. She then raised her arm and pinned Cayden to the wall as she peeked into the room they just left. Ariana counted in her head waiting to see what was chasing them. “56, 57, 58,” She counted and suddenly a loud crashing sound was heard. Ariana watched as a heavy stream of sand pummeled the floor. Waves and waves of sand toppled onto one another and she didn’t know what to do.
