My Way To You - Chapter 458
“You’re so mean!” Ariana pouted as she and Cayden walk through the right archway and into a corridor. “… You know if you weren’t so cute maybe I wouldn’t want to tease you as much.” Cayden grumbled. “Do you need another goose egg on your head!” Ariana shouted as she raised her fist, her eyes were burning with rage but her face flushed with embarrassment.
Cayden quickly shrank back and raised his hands, he gingerly touched the massive goose egg of a bump that sat on the top of his head. His eyes rounded with fear and watered pitifully. “No thank you! I’ll be good!” He cried. Ariana uncurled her fist and placed it over her hand, stifling a laugh.
“If you weren’t so cute… I would want to tease you so much.” She said in a mocking voice. “I see your point…” Cayden said with a heavy pout. “I can kiss it better, if you like?” Ariana said with a small smile. Cayden’s eyes flashed. “Please.” He said happily.
“Mmmh, n-o-o, I changed my mind.” Ariana replied with a playful tone. Cayden pounced on top of Ariana and embraced her tightly. “Look who’s being mean now!” Cayden said with a light laugh. “Still love me?” Ariana asked playfully. “I don’t think I can ever stop loving you.” Cayden whispered.
Ariana didn’t fuss or try to escape his embrace, instead she nuzzled herself into his arms and enjoyed the moment. “I don’t think I can either.” Ariana mumbled. “We should stop playing around now. It looks like the archway is up ahead.” Cayden said in a low voice. Ariana raised her claw hands and held Cayden in place. “Just one more minute.” She pleaded. Cayden sighed as he buried his face into her head, minding her horns. “Me too, I want one more minute too.” He replied.
After a few minutes Ariana finally spoke up. “We should go.” Cayden tightened his embrace one last time. “Ok.” He said in a heart breaking tone as he pulled away but as he moved away he grabbed Ariana’s hand. Ariana couldn’t help but smile, she knew Cayden wanted to share their warmth as much as she did.
They both approached the archway with extreme caution. Neither one didn’t know what to expect. They peeked over stones of the archway and felt their jaws drop to the floor. “What kind of game is this?” Cayden whispered. “I-I, I don’t even know.” Ariana replied as she slowly moved from the archway and into the room.
“How did she manage to do something like this?” Ariana asked slowly as she looked around. Inside the room was two massive ledges that faced opposite of each other. The room was also filled with shifting cubes the size of a small house, moving back and forth, up and down and diagonally.
Molten lava spewed out from random openings from walls and some cubes and spilled into a giant pit of sparkling, silver fluid. In the center of the fluid was a small oasis that looked to be the size of small town.
Ariana looked to her left and spotted a small river of sparkling, white sand that overflowed into the pit. “What is that?” Ariana asked. “I don’t know but I just found Kyrie’s sand.” Cayden said as he pointed upwards. Ariana looked up and saw what looked like black, glass art hanging from a single cube that was pouring lava awkwardly. The glass art was stopping the flow from going straight down and caused it it flow down on angle, while splatters of lava sprayed onto another cube.
“No, but, wow…” Ariana said as she stared at the glass art. “It looks like it was trying to fight something.” Cayden said as he stared at the glass art. Ariana nodded her head in agreement. The glass art had curves, sweeping motions and coils as if it was trying to fend for itself and flee at the same time. “What do you think did that?” Ariana asked breaking her gaze from the glass art.
Cayden quickly started to look around. “I don’t know but that’s not important right now. We need to find a way out” Cayden replied. “I don’t know where to go. If I had my wing I could fly us across but what if it’s a trap?” Ariana asked. “What do you mean?” Cayden asked.
“The bunker was here before me so my grandmother must have had some sort of plan on how to get through this safely right?” Ariana asked hopefully. Cayden nodded his head in agreement. “Okay, right, right, r-i-g-h-t… ya sorry, I’m still stuck on that! What in the name that is all good and holy would anyone have something that could do that?! I’m sorry but an enemy is important! I don’t want to caught off guard!” Ariana shouted as she gestured to the glass art.
Suddenly a small squeak echoed in the room. Ariana froze as did Cayden. “Did you hear that?” Ariana asked as she brought down her hands. “I think,” Cayden started but he was interrupted by another squeak. In between them was a small, blue and magenta, tie dyed joey looking creature. “Oh my goodness! What a cutie!” Ariana squealed.
The joey looked up with his big, black, almond shaped eyes and blinked. He had oversized clawed, paws, a long, tail with white tuffs of fur at the end, mimicking a flame. He also had tuffs of fur all over his body making him look extra fluffy, especially the white fur on his chest and belly. His ears sat at the side of face and a pair of white, coiled horns sat on top of his head.
“Cayden, it’s a joey! It’s a sweat little joey, that looks like cotton candy!” Ariana said gleefully as she dropped to her knees and extended a fist. The joey looked at Ariana again then proceeded to sniff her her first. “A joey? Like a baby kangaroo? Ariana, I don’t think that’s a joey.” Cayden said as he looked down at the creature. Ariana caught the joey’s face and started to pet him affectionately.
“Then what is he?” Ariana said as she started to pet the creature all over. The creature started to pur as he rubbed his face into Ariana’s hand. “I don’t know but I think you’re being too friendly with it.” Cayden grumbled. The creature then flopped onto the ground and gave Ariana the sweetest look.
Ariana melted and she started to rub his belly with one hand and grabbed his paw with another, pushing and stroking his pink, jelly pads. “You’re so silly Cayden,” Ariana started but then she froze. Her eyes grew wide and her lips trembled.
