My Way To You - Chapter 459
Ariana’s eyes rounded as looked past the jelly pads and down the creatures arm. “Ariana?” Cayden called out but Ariana kept her silence. She moved her hand away from the creature’s paw and gently moved her index down its large arm. She stroked it a few times and the creature fanned out some hidden feathers that were slightly covered with the tie dyed tuffs of fur.
Cayden quickly grabbed Ariana and pulled her back into his arms. “Move back slowly.” Cayden instructed as they kept their eyes glued on the creature. The creature tilted his tiny face in confusion, he let out a small squeak as he rolled onto his large back legs, his tail made sweeping motions as if he was balancing himself. “Crap.” Cayden cursed under his breath. “Cayden, you don’t think he…” Ariana started but she couldn’t finish her sentence. Cayden tightened his grip as the creature squeaked some more and took a few jumps forward.
“No, no I don’t think so.” Cayden said in a low voice. “Then what did?” Ariana asked. “Well, you thought it was a joey right?” Cayden asked as they finally back up against the edge of the small river of sparkling, white sand. “So it has to have a mama.” Ariana replied. “It has to have a mama.” Cayden repeated. “Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t!” Ariana said as she looked around. The creature hopped forward until he was against Ariana’s leg. He started to pur as he rubbed his small snout against her leg.
“No!” Ariana shouted just as Cayden raised his leg. “We can’t hurt it!” She continued as she broke free from Cayden’s arms and protected the small creature with her body. “Ariana get away from that thing!” Cayden hissed as he placed his hands on her shoulders “No!” She shouted. “It’s dangerous!” Cayden shouted back. “And what you were thinking of doing wasn’t?!” Ariana said bitterly.
“I was just trying to get it away from you!” Cayden growled. “Why? He hasn’t done anything to me but be cute!” Ariana shouted as she picked up the creature and rushed away from Cayden. She then faced him and put the creature down safely. “Ariana.” Cayden called out as he stretched out his hand. Ariana shook her head and the creature started to nuzzle against her leg again.
With a sigh Ariana sat down, the creature hopped round in excitement and then landed in her lap. Ariana smiled as she stroked his chin. “I know what you’re thinking and I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little scared but what you were thinking of doing is wrong.” Ariana said as she moved her gaze from the creature to Cayden’s.
“Violence is never and answer. Ever. What if someone tried to do the same thing to our child? Fear makes people ignorant and I know what it feels like to be looked at differently when people know nothing about you.” Ariana said pitifully. “But blindly accepting something, that can also be dangerous.” Cayden said slowly. “I will not attack unless it’s in defense.” Ariana said sternly. The creature moved up and licked Ariana’s cheek with it’s purple tongue.
Ariana was caught off guard and let out a small giggle. “… I’m sorry my love.” Cayden said as he slowly approached the creature. “Don’t apologize to me silly.” Ariana giggled as she pulled off the creature from her face. Cayden sighed and held out his fist. “I’m sorry little guy. I was very mean and biased towards you. Do you forgive me?” Cayden asked in a gentle voice.
The creature looked up at Cayden and stared. After a few moments the creature stuck out it’s purple tongue and gave Cayden a small lick. “You’re s-o sweet!” Ariana shouted as she gave the creature a big hug. The creature’s eyes grew wide and it started to rub it’s face against Ariana’s cheek. “So are you!” The creature said in a sweet, child like voice. Ariana and Cayden froze in place.
The creature started to laugh with an array of squeaks causing Ariana to loosen her grip. The creature then jumped out of Ariana’s arms and rolled around laughing. “I didn’t think you would be so shocked!” The creature said with a laughing squeak.
“Cayden.” Ariana called out as she pointed at the creature. “Ya?” Cayden replied. “It’s talking.” Ariana said slowly. “Ya.” Cayden responded with a dumbstruck face. “No, he seriously talked.” Ariana said as she started to recover from the shock. The creature stopped rolling around and stood up on it’s thick back legs. “Okay, okay. I’m sorry for tricking you.” The creature said as he shook out his fur and puffed out.
Ariana dropped her hand and stared as Cayden stood up. The creature ignored them both and started to groom his fur and feathers. “Who are you?” Ariana finally asked. “Joey.” The creature replied nonchalantly. “Joey?” Cayden asked doubtfully. “She named me and I like it.” Joey said as he finished grooming himself. “What are you?” Ariana asked as she slowly got up. “Oh I’m a Rady.” Joey said with a small shake. “A Rady?” Cayden asked.
“That’s right.” Joey said as he looked up at Cayden. “Do you live here?” Ariana asked. “Yup! Me and everyone else!” Joey said happily as he jumped a few times into the air. “Everyone else?” Cayden asked. “Yup, yup, yup!” Joey said happily as he bounced around the two. “Joey, did you do that?” Ariana asked as she pointed towards the glass art. Joey jumped around to look at the glass art.
The moment he saw it he spread his arms apart and extended his feathers. He hovered hissing as sparks of light blue flames sparked out of his mouth. “I don’t like that thing.” Joey said. “You were so brave to fight it.” Ariana said in a sweet and gentle voice.
Joey floated downward and landed with ease. He looked up at Ariana with his black eyes. Ariana bent down and petted the side of his face. “Strong too.” She said with a gentle smile.
“Awww! I want to pet the fluffy ball too.” A overly sweet voice called out.
