My Way To You - Chapter 464
“Banishment? What do you mean banishment?” Ariana asked. “Isn’t that why you are here? I mean that weird guy and robed people were chasing you with that abomination.” Joanna said as she scrunched up nose. “No, no that’s not why they were chasing me and… oh my G*d Cayden!” Ariana shouted. “Your mate?” Joanna asked.
“I completely forgot Cayden back there!” Ariana cried as she covered her face in shame. “Don’t worry you will meet up again.” Joanna replied nonchalantly. “How?” Ariana asked. “My brother said that he will take him to the castle. So we’ll head there after we have our own fun.” Joanna said as she flashed Ariana a smile.
“So you guys text too.” Ariana whispered. Joanna went back to her phone and started to type again. “Man I suck… sigh…. So, Joanna tell me more about the banished.” Ariana asked. “We are they banished. Every single one of us, some have been banished longer then others and most have been born into the banishment but we are happy.” Joanna replied automatically.
“Who banished you?” Ariana asked. “Well I guess we have to forget that. Brother says you can’t change your form and I really wanted to go shopping with a girlfriend.” Joanna pouted. Ariana was taken aback, she didn’t think someone as cute as Joanna didn’t have a girlfriend. “My Lady, if I could offer a suggestion.” Thes’ Ja said from the front.
“Go on.” Joanna said in a huatnty tone. “Why not give the young Miss a cloak and do some activities instead?” Thes’ Ja asked. “Shopping is an activity.” Joanna pouted as she slouched. “What about sitting around while eating frozen delights?” Thes’ Ja suggested. “Oh that does sound nice.” Joanna replied as she started to smile. “So what do you think Ariana? Would you like to ge some frozen delight?”
…
Ariana looked down and couldn’t believe that Thes’ Ja got her a cloak so fast or that she would be sitting under a tree with Joanna eating ice cream. “I love frozen delight!” Joanna exclaimed. “… I do too.” Ariana said with a weak smile. “Liar, you didn’t even take a bite out of yours.” Joanna said bitterly. “No, no I really do. It looks just like ice cream and I bet it’s made the same way but I don’t think, I’m sorry my mind is still on the whole banished thing.” Ariana admitted.
“Ice cream? Mmmh, it is frozen like ice but the texture is so smooth and cream like, I’m on the fence for this one. I do like the sound of frozen delight but ice cream sounds more accurate. I will ‘text’ my brother and see what he says.” Joanna said. “Joanna! Is that what you’ve been doing this whole time?!” Ariana asked.
“The way you name things is amazing and sounds so much better that what we call them. Even the new idea about the ‘seat belts’ it can really make driving and riding a ‘car’ more safe.” Joanna said. “Oh my G*d?!” Ariana groaned. “I even like the way you curse. I really want to use it too.” Joanna said with a giant grin. “Joanna!” Ariana shouted. “Fine, fine, no more teasing.” Joanna said with a small chuckle.
“But seriously take a bite of your ‘ice cream’ before it melts.” Joanna said. With a heavy sigh Ariana did what she was told and was surprise. “Mmmh! It’s like soft served ice cream with a small hint of tropical fruits. I think frozen delight is a better name then calling it ice cream.” Ariana said. Joanna watched as Ariana devoured the ice cream happily when she took her last bite Joanna sighed.
“Your ancestors banished us.” Joanna said bluntly. Ariana practically choked on her spoon. “My what?” Ariana said a small cough. “A few hundred years ago the garnet dragons banished the Rady race out of the Animus Kingdom.” Joanna explained. Ariana pursed her lips and slipped into thought.
“So then how did you start living here?” Ariana finally asked. Joanna laughed. “Do you not want to know why we were banished? Or why we are not even considered beast folk anymore? Or did you learn about our ‘deeds’ when you were in history class?” Joanna asked. Ariana stared down Joanna then let out a small sigh. “I was never raised in the Animus Kingdom. My mother was human and forced herself of my father. I don’t even think he knows I exist.” Ariana admitted.
Joanna’s smile dropped, the colour in face drained as her eyes watered. “I’m so sorry.” Joanna said. “No, it’s okay. I’m sorry that you and your people were banished.” Ariana said feebly. “We were banished because we no longer wanted to serve the Royal family.” Joanna said. “Serve the Royal family?” Ariana asked. “That’s right. We wanted to give up our divine magical powers in exchange for the advancement of civilization instead.” Joanna explained.
“Divine magical powers?” Ariana asked. “That’s right. Our race is somewhat special, our powers allowed us to see ripples in time and space. We could even speak to the Goddess and connect her direct power to the Garnet Dragons but the Royals were power hunger and my ancestors were done with the constant wars and murders. So we fought back but we were considerably weak.”
“We lost the coup and had our divine magic stripped and were banished. MY ancestors used to look a lot different from what we look now. Apparently we used to be a lesser form of dragons but as time went our bodies changed to each environment and we kept losing a lot of our family members, friends and loved ones that is until we found this place. The Drakes gave us a place to live and we have been in debted to them ever since.” Joanna explained.
“My grandmother?” Ariana asked. “Your grandmother?! Well things have really gotten interesting!” Joanna laughed. Ariana blushed as she looked at her empty cup of frozen delight. “I’m not a Drake by blood. My real mom was friends with Lady Zula and after she passed Lady Zula looked for me then adopted me.” Ariana explained. “But you see them as your really family?” Joanna asked.
“With all my heart.” Ariana answered without hesitation. “So your mother who was she?” Joanna asked in a teasing tone. “The jewel eyed priestess.” Ariana answered.
