My Way To You - Chapter 465
Ariana groaned as she sat beside Joanna under the tree. They had been sitting there for over an hour and Joanna said nothing after learning the entire truth about Ariana. “Joanna?” Ariana called out pitifully. “Why?” Joanna asked. “I’m sorry?” Ariana asked. “Why are you trying to fight for people who hate you?!” Joanna shouted as she stood up.
“Hate, love, despise, not know that I exist or people who want to use me, it doesn’t matter. All I can do is fight and make sure that I,” Ariana started to say but Joanna walked away. “Oh my G*d that’s a load of crap!” Joanna shouted. Ariana scrambled to get up and she chased after Joanna. “Joanna, please don’t be upset.” Ariana said.
“No! Just stay away!” Joanna shouted before she ran off. “Joanna…” Ariana called out pitifully as she stood in place, watching Joanna disappear.
Ariana waited for a while for Joanna to come back but she saw no sign of her returning. With a heavy sigh Ariana started to wonder, she had no idea where she was going but it was better then standing around and doing nothing. After she left the park she walked down a busy side walk. She was surprised by the city built on the island. It really did remind her of her past life as she observed the citizens interact with each other.
They all acted like normal people who had lived mundane lives but they all looked happy. They either picked up their kids from school, were shopping, having fun at arcades or eating with friends and family. Banishment didn’t seem so bad, in fact it looked down right peaceful but what did their peace cost? Joanna had said that they were stripped of their magic before they were banished so how did they create illusion magic around the island? What exactly was the illusion?
Ariana slipped into deeper and deeper thought as she walked around. Her thoughts consumed her so much that she didn’t notice where she was going. “Ouch!” A male voice shouted. “Oh, sorry.” Ariana mumbled before trying to walk off. “Wait, you really hurt my friend. Do you think a simple apology would fix everything?” Another male asked as he grabbed Ariana’s shoulder and spun her around.
“Hey are you listening-?!” The male shouted but then swallowed back his words. Ariana glared dangerously from under her hood it caused the group to lose their nerve. “He’s fine!” The male shouted as he immediately let go of Ariana and jumped back. “Ariana?” A familiar voice called out.
Ariana turned to the voice and felt wave of relief wash over her. “Joanna?!” She shouted as she ran towards her, Joanna opened her arms waiting for Ariana’s embrace. Ariana’s hood came down and her hair flowed back as she collided into Joanna’s body. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” Joanna shouted as she started to inspect Ariana. A snarky laugh was heard from the group causing Ariana to look back. “Figures that the weirdo Va’ Rag would associate herself with a garnet dragon.” A female said with disgusted tone.
“It’s Joanna now.” Joanna corrected as she looked tall and proud. “Joanna?! How did a freak like you get such a beautiful name? No one in their right mind would dare rename a Rady much less a Rady who changed their s.e.x.” The female said with a venomous tone. “Watch what you say!” Joanna shouted.
“Or what? Your family will stop protecting us? We still have the Drakes to fall back on so we don’t necessarily need you or your brother.” The female said and the other men nodded their heads in agreement. “What is they Drakes refuse to help you.” Ariana said in a dark tone. The small group turned their gazes to Ariana and started to laugh.
“Like the Drakes would ever deny us?! We helped them climb up the social ladder and helped them train into battle gods! Like they would ever deny any of us.” The female said with a laugh. Joanna’s face relaxed and a sly smile started to spread across her face. “I don’t know about that. Right Ariana, oh sorry, Miss Drake have you trained enough to take over your grandmother’s legacy?” Joanna asked.
Ariana’s gaze turned mischievous as she flashed a toothy smile. “My grandmother, oops, Countess Drake has been training me in the bunker for a while but I can always benefit from other opponents who won’t take it easy on me.” Ariana said arrogantly. The group paled. “T-there’s no way that the Drakes would ever allow a garnet dragon into their blood line!” One of the males shouted hysterical.
“Why not ask her if you don’t believe me but then again she was the one who told me to come here if I needed help.” Ariana said with an evil smile. “Impossible.” The female gasped but the group couldn’t chance it. “Miss Drake, forgive us!” The group shouted before they turned around. “Wait!” Ariana shouted. The group froze, their bodies were trembling, face drenched in sweat and eyes shaking in fear. “Look at me when I’m talking to you.” Ariana scolded. The group slowly and reluctantly turned to face Ariana.
“Apologize!” Ariana commanded. “B-b-but we did.” The female said with quivering lips. “Not to me! To Joanna! There is nothing wrong or weird with her!” Ariana shouted. Soon a crowd of people surrounded them as they watched the scene. “We apologize!” The group said with a deep bow. “Say her name!” Ariana ordered. “We can not!” The group cried as they dropped to their knees.
“I named her so I am telling you Va’ Rag is no more! She has been and will always be Joanna! So apologize to her properly!” Ariana shouted in a fit of rage. The group dropped their heads to the ground. “We are so sorry Miss Joanna!” They shouted in unison.
Suddenly someone started to clap. “Well Miss Drake you seem to be making yourself at home.” King Joey announced as he walked forward. The crowd that had formed parted and slightly bowed as their king walked forward. “I just don’t like anyone who make my friends feel bad about themselves.” Ariana said as she flashed a dangerous glare at the group.
“Mmmmh. I believe your mate is the same way. I humbly ask that you make your way to the castle before Cayden destroys it from the inside out.” King Joey said before turning around. He then looked at the group on the ground. “Miss Drake, was the apology acceptable?” King Joey asked.
“Joanna?” Ariana asked. Joanna nodded her head yes. “Yes it was.” Ariana replied. “Hmmm.” King Joey said as he started to walk away. “Well, that was too bad.”
