My Wife, The Ice Queen President - chapter 21
“Why?” Du Yuehua asked with a questioning tone.
“These documents! I’ll go crazy if I spend a second longer looking at them!” Ye Xiong’s greatest fear in his entire existence was the handling of documents. He felt like his head was on the verge of exploding whenever he laid eyes on documents.
“How about this, let’s do it together,” Du Yuehua responded after giving it some thought.
Ye Xiong’s mouth instantly widened into a huge circle. He eagerly cried out, “Nice! We’ll do it together! We’ll do it real good! We’ll do it with our all! We’ll make waves with our effort, and both heaven and earth will be disrupted by our effort!”
A crimson wave surged over Du Yuehua’s face, all the way from her neck.
‘That darned rascal! Why does he always want to twist my words? Could he be any more shameless?’
“The ‘it’ I mentioned isn’t the ‘it’ you’re thinking about. I’m talking about assisting you with the documents,” Du Yuehua explained hurriedly.
“That was what I meant. What did you think I meant, Sister Hua?”
Du Yuehua was speechless. She mentally noted to herself that if she were to spend any more time with the rascal, she would be driven mad. ‘Would it kill him to not twist one’s words?’
Following the outburst, the two began to discuss matters pertaining to the hotel’s management. After going back and forth several times, the two finally came to an agreement. In the end, it was decided that Du Yuehua would handle all matters regarding staffing, except for security. Security would be Ye Xiong’s domain, and Ye Xiong would not spare a single thought on anything other than that.
However, Ye Xiong would still keep close tabs on all financial matters. After all, it affected his livelihood. It was a matter of utmost importance!
In the following days, Du Yuehua was swamped with work. From recruitment to advertising and contacting her friends, she had done anything and everything that was crucial to set her hotel back on the right track.
Previously, Du Yuehua could not set any of her plans into motion due to disruptions from the Northwest Association. However, with the presence of Ye Xiong, the buffoon-like saint, the Northwest Association could hinder her no longer, and as such, she could give her all in the rebuilding effort.
In contrast, Ye Xiong had been squirming day-in and day-out around the hotel like a dog in human’s clothing 1 all the while with his formal suit on. Aside from basking in the constant praise from the employees, he had basically done nothing else.
‘Damn, giving orders without doing anything sure feels good!’
In the afternoon, Ye Xiong had received a call from Yang Xinyi. It was only then that he remembered that he needed to move into Yang Xinyi’s house. ‘Would I need to have dinner with my father-in-law tonight, I wonder?’
In regard to the orders given by this contracted wife of his, Ye Xiong was actually quite obedient towards her. After all, he owed that much to her for taking her money.
Upon imagining meeting his father-in-law that night, and in fear of being ridiculed, Ye Xiong hastily ran into Du Yuehua’s office. With a mischievous grin, he stated, “Sister Hua, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you.”
“What is it?” Du Yuehua did not even bother lifting her head.
“Can I borrow your car to show off, erm no, to move my stuff to a new house tonight?” queried Ye Xiong.
Still not raising her head, Du Yuehua retrieved a set of car keys from her drawer and tossed it onto the table.
“This car’s yours from now on.”
Ye Xiong was moved by her generosity. In his mind, he was praising how kind his boss was, preparing a car for his personal use.
Thinking back on the Porsche that cost over ten million bucks that Du Yuehua had wrecked previously, Ye Xiong instantly assumed that his vehicle would also be some kind of luxury vehicle that was of a similar price range, such as an Audi or a BMW.
However, upon setting his eyes on the car keys, he was instantly dumbfounded. It was a shabby-looking Volkswagen key.
‘Okay, look on the bright side. At least a car that’s worth a few hundred thousand bucks won’t be that shameful,’ Ye Xiong mentally consoled himself.
Contrary to his expectations, however, was the scene that awaited him when he entered the garage. It left him in utter disbelief, as the Volkswagen key had belonged to a dingy Jetta 1 . Seeing it’s antique-like exterior, and long, bulky head caused Ye Xiong to feel majorly disappointed.
“President Du, you’re aware that I’m the general manager of an acclaimed international hotel, right? Does this shabby-car really suit my standing?” Ye Xiong called Du Yuehua, his tone impatient.
“I can give it to someone else if you don’t want it.” Du Yuehua replied nonchalantly.
“Well, it would be a waste to reject it. Besides, it beats riding a run-down motorcycle,” Ye Xiong asserted hastily.
With his new ride, the dingy Jetta, Chu Li returned to his dorm and packed up his stuff. Once that was done, he then headed to Yang Xinyi’s mansion. Upon entering it, however, a middle-aged woman rushed up towards him. “The son-in-law has arrived! Lil Miss’ waiting in the living room for you.”
“Let me move in my stuff first.”
Ye Xiong walked to the boot of his car, took out his rucksack, and began heading towards the mansion.
“Sir, the Lil Miss has already prepared all the stuff you need for you. As such, you don’t need to bring this sack in,” The middle-aged woman commented.
“And why shouldn’t I?” Ye Xiong asked, perplexed.
The middle-aged woman shot a glance at the dirty, dilapidated rucksack as if it had been dragged out of a dumpster. It was as if her eyes were stating, “Do you even need to ask? With the Lil Miss’ germophobic personality, there’s no way she’d allow such filthy things into the mansion.”
Ye Xiong’s had a keen insight, and he immediately understood what the woman’s gaze meant. However, he purposefully ignored it, and with the rucksack hoisted on his back, he walked towards the living room.
Throughout the last two years, the rucksack had accompanied Ye Xiong all the way from the South to the North. They had seen who knows how many cities together, and Ye Xiong had grown quite attached to it. So, why would he toss it away just because someone told him to do so?
“Sir, you can’t bring that thing in!” The woman hurriedly attempted to halt Ye Xiong’s path when she saw Ye Xiong hauling the rucksack.
Despite that, Ye Xiong paid her no mind as he made his way into the mansion.
Back in the living room of the mansion, Yang Xinyi was reclining on a sofa when she saw Ye Xiong making his way in with the rucksack. She frowned at the sight.
“Hold it.”
“My main wife, what’s the matter?” Ye Xiong was dazzled by the sight before him.
Yang Xinyi had donned a professional-looking white-collared shirt that brought out the features of her perfectly proportioned body. Her skin was like white jade, her hair like a weeping willow, and her eyes were oh so clear, the spitting image of a full moon on an autumn day.
Further complementing all this was her slightly irritated expression. It was so mesmerizing that it could metaphorically suck out one’s soul!
“Who are you calling your main wife? Watch your mouth!” Yang Xinyi raised an eyebrow at him.
“Since you’re officially my wife now, it’s only natural that you’re the main one. However, there’ll be a second, a third, and a fourth wife in the future… My plan is to form a soccer team with all of you,” Chu Li chuckled playfully.
Seeing how apathetic and laid back Ye Xiong was had ignited a reproachful glare within Yang Xinyi’s eyes. However, she still managed to maintain proper conduct. At the very least, she had not blown her top in front of her subordinate.
“Aunt Zhang, you can leave now.”
“Understood, Lil Miss.”
After the maid, Aunt Zhang had made her exit, Yang Xinyi’s gaze landed on the rucksack that Ye Xiong was carrying. She ordered, “That rucksack isn’t allowed within the mansion. Throw it away. If you need anything, just ask Aunt Zhang for it. She’ll procure it for you.”
“Throughout these two years, this rucksack of mine has accompanied me all the way from the South to the North. We’ve gone through many struggles together, experienced several tragedies, and its of sentimental value to me. How can I just toss it away just because you said so?” Ye Xiong flat-out rejected her.
“Ten thousand bucks,” Yang Xinyi calmly stated.
“It’s not about money. To me, this rucksack is like my biological brother…”
“Twenty thousand…”
“Okay, deal.” Ye Xiong’s comment was quick and decisive.
Yang Xinyi rolled her eyes. This was the first time she had ever encountered such a shameless person.
However, upon recalling the pact that had brought them together, and considering the assistance she required from him to deal with her father and He Haodong, she swallowed down her displeasure.
“I’ve arranged a job for you. You’ll be the manager of the Security Department of a certain major conglomerate. You’d better do your job properly. Don’t you dare humiliate me,” Yang Xinyi declared.
“I appreciate the sentiment, main wife, but I’ve already found a job,” Ye Xiong giggled.
“What job?”
“General manager of a certain hotel,” Ye Xiong proudly declared.
“Which hotel?” Yang Xinyi prodded curiously.
Her immediate thought was that Ye Xiong was lying. After all, who would hire someone like Ye Xiong as a general manager?
“It’s a secret!”
“No can do, I must know about your job, and everything that it entails. Otherwise, I won’t be able to respond to my father’s questioning,” Yang Xinyi stated resolutely.
“It’s Feiyang International Hotel,” Ye Xiong was forced to tell the truth.
