Mystic High Popularity Rating - Volume 1 Chapter 43 Back To Normal..? 35
******************************
The week after the entire fake blood fiasco, we had to go back to school. As much as we (Violet) would have preferred to take more time out. I watched from the door frame as Violet tried to convince Sasha to let her get a few more days.
“Please! I’m still in shock! A-and I get lightheaded at the thought of seeing another locker!” She begged. Sasha shook her head unwavering.
“Violet, you act as if your the one who passed out! Besides, your perfectly fine.” She said. Violet quickly shook her head.
“No! I’m still recovering! Just a day.” She pleaded once more. I pinched the bridge of my nose and sighed loudly.
“Violet, Sasha can’t and shouldn’t abuse her authorities like this! Would you rather her loose her job because she is misdiagnosing people?” I said. Violet groaned before pouting.
“Fine, but if I pass out in the middle of class-”
“Violet your not sick!!”

After many arguments, the next day we were all back at school. Violet groaned stubbornly as we walked to the school. Vikky was walking in front of the three of us, holding David’s hand as she cradled Jewel with the other. Her bag was strapped over her shoulder uncomfortably. She hand another bulky bag that was over her neck.
“I hope her hand doesn’t get sore..” Ivy whispered in my ear. I nodded in agreement. Violet continued grumbling something under her breath. I continued watching Vikky who was still walking in front of us, and from time to time turning her head to check on David.
“Hey Vikky, do need help? I can hold your bag.” I said. She turned to me and quickly shook her head.
“Ah.. it’s alright, I’m fine.” She said awkwardly, but as she turned, her bag slid down her arm. She stopped walking and briefly let go of David’s hand to fix it. I walked up to her and outstretched my hand.
“You sure?” I said with a small smile she paused and bit her lip before carefully removing her bag and handing it to me. I didn’t move. She looked at me confused.
“And the other one.” I said. Her eyes went wide as she patted the bag.
“This one is a bit too heavy.. I can carry it-”
“Let me help.” Someone interrupted. I looked over startled by the voice and saw Adam standing next to Vikky. Vikky quickly turned away.
“I can hold it.” She said softly. With that she turned around and continued her walk to school, her hand hold David’s. I looked at Adam’s sad expression and sighed.
“Give her some time, you can’t expect her to open up so quickly.” I said. He didn’t respond, but instead turned to walk closer behind Vikky. Ivy patted my shoulder and shrugged.
“I feel bad for the both of them.” She said. I nodded slightly. What a pitiful love story. We were about to continue walking when warmth rush passed my neck. I shuddered before my eyes went wide in shock. Throwing my bag down, I quickly ran to catch up with Vikky and Adam.
“Look out!” I yelled. Continuing to run in front of them, I quickly outstretched my hand and let a flickering path of fire release itself. Another ball of flames crashed against my own and were quickly distinguished. I turned my head to face them quickly.
Adam had ran in front of Vikky, his back facing me as he held David securely with one arm, his other wrapped firmly around Vikky’s waist.
“Get them out of here! Violet! Ivy!” I yelled once more. Before I could blink, another ball of flames was thrown at us. I put it out with my out flames once more. A glowing pink light flashed before I saw a glimpse of Emily standing in front of me. As she was about to throw a punch, Ivy quickly rushed over and kicked her square in the ribs. I quickly blocked another fire ball. I hissed.
“Violet! Now!” I yelled, just as I did, everything stopped moving. I quickly turned to Ivy who nodded and took of in the direction the flames were coming from. In less than a second, she was standing back at my side.
“It’s him.” She said. I groaned before turning to Violet who hand her hands shaking uncomfortably.
“Guys! Hurry it up!” She said with a strained voice. We nodded before running out of the middle of the road.
“Let’s go catch up with them! Ivy did you see where Adam took them?” I asked her. She pointed to the trees on the opposite side of the side walk. I nodded.
“Let’s go!” I said. Violet out a grunt before running and following us into the trees.

After we were a few seconds into the woods, Ivy left to search for the others.
“There over here!” I heard her yell. Violet and I quickly followed.
“Are you alright to walk?” I asked her. She had been holding her powers up for quite a bit. She nodded.
“Just need some fresh air, I’ll be fine.” She responded. I didn’t believe her but didn’t bother pushing. It was Violet, I was most likely not going to get an answer straightforwardly. By the time we reached them, I already saw the other guys there. I widened my eyes.
“How did you guys get here so fast?” I said. They turned to us before quickly rushing up to one another. Suddenly, Violet leaned on me with an exaggerated sigh.
“Oh my god! I can’t breathe!” She groaned. Almost instantaneously, Jacob had rushed up to her and held her waist, allowing her to lean on him.
“Are you alright?” He asked concerned. I clicked my tongue.
“Violet is fine.” I said, emphasizing the word “fine”. She quickly leaned on Jacob even more. I scrunched my nose and turned away. I gasped slightly as I was met face to face with Luke.
“Are you okay? What happen it there?” He quickly asked me. I rushed to arrange myself before taking a step back. I nodded quickly.
“Y-yeah, were fine.” I responded. He sighed before hugging me. I hugged him back, slowly sinking into the hug when he pulled a way. I collected myself and turned to Vikky who was standing with Adam, she was holding Jewel and somehow, David had allowed Adam to lift him up.
“Are you guys right?” I asked. They nodded and Vikky turned to me with a solemn expression on her face.
“I’m, I’m sorry for always causing you guys so much trouble.” She said, her gaze still on the ground. I quickly shook my head.
“It’s not your fault Vikky, but why did you let this go on for so long?” I asked her. She kept her gaze at the ground. I sighed softly and brushed my hair back.
“It’s alright, no need to answer-
“My powers.” She suddenly said. I looked up at her, a look of shock on my face. Her words mush have caught the attention of others as they soon started to gather around us. She pulled Jewel closer to her chest. I signaled the others to back up and give her space. After a long pause of silence, Adam spoke first.
“You don’t have to tell us anything if you don’t want to..” he said trying to comfort her. It must have worked as I saw her take a deep breath before looking up a all of us.
For the first time, she had covered the fear in her eyes with a soft but serious expression, her amethyst colored eyes glossed over with toughness.
“I can manipulate people’s powers.” She finally said.
