Naruto And The Game Of Thrones - Chapter 18
With the leaders of the Second Sons dead, the whole sell sword army was in a disarray.
The masters of Yunkai were forcing them to act against Daenerys but without any leadership, the whole army was beginning to lose morale, striken with internal strife for new leadership and abanonment by the more fearful.
The masters, seeing the situation turning against their favour, called for a red priestess to pray for something to happen which could turn the situation around. Countless of slaves were burnt alive to appease the ‘Lord of Light’.
Back at the Targaryen camp, Edwyn was reading another letter from Borgy while Daenerys patiently stood aside. As he finished reading, he chucked and helplessly shook his head.
Curious, Daenerys asked, “What is it?”
Edwyn sighed and replied, “I am adored by the common folk of King’s Landing. Since the day I stepped into its streets, I worked hard to protect them from the sc.u.m that preyed upon the innocent. Due to that, I gained loyalty of not only the common folk, but also the men of the city watch and the army.”
Edwyn looked at Daenerys who was listening intently and continued, “When Joffrey ascended to the throne, he killed Ned Stark and made an enemy out of the entire north, all the while Stannis and Renley Baratheon declared themselves as kings and the war broke out. King’s landing suffered because of it.”
“I knew that such a time may come and had taken a lot of measures so that the common folk don’t starve. But my men, who were tasked to provide the people with grain and cloth, told everyone that I am the rightful king and all the provisions they were getting were because of me. They believed me to be their saviour. The hatred they had for Joffrey, it has become worship for me.”
“Now, they want Joffrey to leave the throne and for me to rule. Everything I’ve ever done was for the good of the common folk. But I don’t want to rule. I don’t want to be shackled by that throne.”
Daenerys had conflicted feelings in her heart. Edwyn was the one whom the common folk wanted as their king. So, if she ascends as the ruler and sits on the iron throne, will she be as loved and as accepted as Edwyn? That single thought was always present as an itch that would never go.
Despite Edwyn training her and saying that she had his sword by her side, he was still free to do as he pleased, a wild card.
Edwyn could feel the conflict and jealousy in Daenerys’ heart. But, he refused to help her. It was her decision to make whether she wanted him to accept her as his queen. It was the last and the final test he had for Daenerys. If she passed, Edwyn would gladly place the crown on her head. But if she failed and gave in to her fears…
As Edwyn kept sensing the doubts and fears blooming in Daenerys’ heart, the sourness in his throat kept building up. He anticipated her to feel that way but the change in her thoughts was too rapid. At one moment she was like a maiden listening to her knight but when he finished, she was nothing but a power hungry noble who was seeing a threat to her status standing before her. He glanced towards her and said, “Come on, it’s time for a spar.”
It wasn’t normal.
During the spar, Daenerys spared no chance. All of her strikes were meant to kill Edwyn. Her slashes kept getting wilder and the corruption of her aura became evident.
Someone or something was influencing her. It couldn’t be the red priestess. Her god was already dead.
Edwyn threw the enraged Daenerys away with a backhand and knocked her out. He ignored Missandei who was glaring daggers at him and focused on the darkness that was leaving Daenerys.
It was something foul. Worse than what he felt at Valyria.
‘These f.u.c.k.i.n.g gods, why can’t they wait for me to kill them that they come here looking for an earlier end.’
The dormant madness in Daenerys was unleashed. Even if it was for a few moments, it was enough to make Edwyn more guarded around Daenerys.
As Daenerys was carried to her tent, Barristan walked up to him and said, “She was very fierce today.”
Edwyn glanced at Barristan and sighed, “Fierce isn’t the word for it. She was murderous. Just when I thought she was coming around this shit happens.”
Edwyn clenched his jaw, his face transforming into a feral snarl and said, “The gods up there are against us, Barristan. They’ve been against us since the very beginning.”
Barristan took a few steps away from Edwyn when he felt the prince’s maddening bloddl.u.s.t. He felt like he was standing next to a savaged beast trying to break away from its rusty shackles.
Edwyn began walking towards Yunkai. He watched Barristan step away and said while chuckling, “Do not fear me, old man.”
“Wh-where are you going, your grace?”
“Essos is a terrible land, Barristan. For someone like me who can sense the emotions of men and women, you can’t even imagine how maddening it is to feel the plight of the slaves. The Yunkish have burnt countless slaves alive to appease a god. I could feel their despair, I could hear their pleas for help yet I did nothing. These masters are irredeemable. Before I return to Westeros, I will cleanse this land and I am starting right now, with Yunkai.”
Having said that, Edwyn drew ‘Doomslayer’ from it’s scabbard. Like Rh’llor, the corruption of the masters had doomed Essos.
The reddish aura of the sword intensified as if it had sensed Edwyn’s bloodl.u.s.t. He could almost feel the sword humming with anticipation.
‘Let’s start with the Second Sons.’

The feeling of fear was so intense that it petrified each and every man of the sellsword army.
A figure emerged from afar, carrying a glowing sword in its hand.
They immediately knew that they were powerless. They knew that no matter what they did, the being in front of them was unbeatable.
Then, the being spoke, “Men of the Second Sons! It is commendable that you chose to stay after all of your leaders were slain! As a commander, I am here to deliver your last orders.”
“When you are up against someone you cannot defeat, you draw your weapons!”
They did it instinctively. So shaken by fear, their bodies acted to the command on their own.
“Synchronize your breathing!”
The second command snapped them out of their stupor. They knew that a fight was inevitable. But seeing just one man standing in front of them, they began steeling their nerves and unified their breathing.
“Charge as one!”
“And die…”
All it took was a minute..
A minute of carnage, of slaughter, of blood and limbs and heads and then…!
Silence…
The land was painted red in a sea of blood. The air itself was replaced by a bloody mist dying everything crimson that came in contact with it.
The Yunkish masters soon arrived with the leftover soldiers at the battlefield and they saw a a man drenched in blood, standing tall among mangled and scattered bodies of the Second Sons.
Edwyn turned around, looked at the terrified masters and smiled.
He was a demon who came from the absolute depths of hell and was there to feast upon the flesh of mortals.
