Naruto: Child of Chakra - Chapter 134
It was utter chaos. When Shiroken entered her mind, all he was receiving was chaotic noises. These were the thoughts of a person. He couldn’t read her mind, but he could get a read on what she was feeling right now.
And now, he finally understood why she wasn’t waking up. Her mind was still in the shock of dying, after all, Kakashi did aim at her heart. Even though it was to take out the seal.
He had to try to tune in with her thoughts to even know what she was thinking. But, no matter what he did, he couldn’t feel anything. This gave him a thought.
~What if her brain has no thoughts? Maybe it needs some kind of a wake-up call.~ He thought and went out of her mind.
He put his fingers beside her temples and sent a small electric shock. Maybe pain would wake her up, he thought. Then he went back in again. This time, he heard something.
“K-Kakashi… *Cough*”
“K-Kakashi… *Cough*”
“K-Kakashi… *Cough*”
“K-Kakashi… *Cough*”
“K-Kakashi… *Cough*”
Shiroken was taken aback, “She’s living her death again and again. Anyone would be braindead after this.”
He tried to interact with her mind next, in hopes that he could establish direct contact with her. “Rin… Rin Nohara. Wake up, girl.”
“K-Kakashi… *Cough*”
“K-Kakashi… *Cough*”
She didn’t respond. He tried harder. “RIN, OBITO IS ALIVE.”
“K-Kaka… WHAT?”
Shiroken cheered at getting a response. “Yes, he’s alive.”
“Are you god?” She asked.
(°ー°〃)
“Ummm… Yes, child. I’m god. Why are you stuck here? You have the whole world outside to see. There is Kakashi, Obito and even your old sensei.” Shiroken said.
“H-How did they die?” She inquired.
“They have not, child. And neither have you. You are in a coma, you have been unconscious for the past few years. You did not die that night, as a handsome good boy saved you.
“Kakashi and Obito need you, Rin. Kakashi has become a loner, while Obito has become a mass murderer, wanting to bring peace to the world by putting everyone to eternal sleep. You are the way to healing their wounds.” Shiroken tried to boost her mind, to give her a purpose to try to wake up.
*WOOSH*
All of a sudden Shiroken saw something. The view completely changed, now there was a white room, and in the middle of it was a little girl (Imagine Chibi Rin.). She politely bowed her head and asked, “Waah… you really do look like a God, but can I really go back?”
Shiroken nodded, “Yes, absolutely. In fact, there are no wars outside now. Kirigakure is one of the most peaceful villages, Konoha is safe and Sunagakure’s people are well fed.”
“But how do I go back?” She asked.
Shiroken scratched his head. How was he supposed to know the paths of her mind and what would lead her to her freedom? “Well, we can surely try. Come, hop on my back.”
“THANK YOU, GRANDPA!” She quickly climbed on his back and sat down on his shoulders.
Shiroken’s brows furrowed, “I’m not… *Sigh* Whatever makes you happy.”
He walked around and tried to find a way out of her mind. He could return easily but had no idea how she could do the same. “Why don’t you close your eyes and try to concentrate?”
“Oki… Ummmmm….” She closed her eyes as hard as possible and started concentrating. The sound effect was unnecessary though.
About 30 seconds later, she opened them again, “PAH!… It’s so hard to do.”
Shiroken frowned, “It’s just been 30 seconds, and why are you panting? Were you holding your breath?”
“YES! It lets me hear my heartbeat, so I put my focus on it and try to concentrate. It works, but I can’t hear my heartbeat now.” She sadly answered.
This gave Shiroken the idea, maybe it is related to heartbeat, her brain does not know the body is still alive. So he tried to fake it, creating fake heartbeat sounds.
“OH… I CAN HEAR IT!” She exclaimed and again closed her eyes.
This time, she didn’t wake up even after a minute. And before he knew it, the place created by her imagination started to fade away. He knew his job was done, all that was needed now was to wait. He quickly left her mind and waited outside for her to wake up.
*Sigh* “The human body is so… complex and mysterious.” He thought.
…
Next Day,
Obito was on his way to the Dama Country as well. He wanted to meet Rin once and then die peacefully. If Rin was alive, as told, then he would accept defeat, but if he was lied to, then he would start a carnage.
That was his plan. And it had been days since he started his journey. He couldn’t just teleport since he had never entered the Dama Country due to Zetsu’s constant warnings.
When he entered the Dama City, he was shocked by its scale and activity. The City was bigger than any village he had ever seen, he guessed that even multiple shinobi villages combined wouldn’t make it this big.
There were hoards of men and carts entering and leaving the city. The loud noise of people talking was irritating but at the same time boasting, telling that this was a city that was rich.
Until now, in the Shinobi world, the concept of cities didn’t exist. No matter what, it was always a village. But here, a standard was set for what may be seen as a city.
He made his way towards the Daimyo’s Palace. But he couldn’t stop himself from roaming around a little at first. After all, he had never set foot in this part of the world.
The first thing that attracted him was the shop called Ichiraku Ramen. He was shocked, as this shop existed in Konoha. Being interested, he checked it out. Turns out, Ichiraku Ramen was now a franchise that has shops in all major Shinobi villages and cities across the five ninja countries.
The taste was exactly the same as Konoha. He ate a good bowl of ramen and nearly cried due to the nostalgia. After the meal and being in a happy mood, he started to look around more. Soon, he also tried the famous tea and dumplings of the city.
One thing he noticed however was how everywhere he could see there were posters of tailed beasts and Lord Dama. It was as if… they were a religion.
Then, to his utmost shock, he saw Uzumaki clan members roaming around happily with no fear or care at all. Common people and the shinobi, all lived like they were used to each other.
However, then he saw the craziest thing he had seen in his entire life.
“WEEE WOOO WEEE WOOO… GIVE WAY! MILKY MILKY FARM’S TANKER IS COMING!” A loud yet cute and happy voice resounded.
He turned and saw the huge slug-like seven-tailed beast walking with no care at all. The beast was pulling an enormous cart behind himself. The cart had the words “100,000 litres of Milk” written on it. He was shocked by both the size of the cart and the beast.
But then he saw the people giving way to the beast while laughing and greeting. The beast also merrily greeted back, sometimes even recognising and calling people, asking about their family and advising them to drink more milk.
Obito was utterly shocked by this scene, prompting himself to pinch himself hard enough to make himself bleed. But, it turned out to be all true.
~This place is… crazy… and peaceful. What I have been trying to achieve… has already been done?~ He realised.
Now a bit numb, he went to the Daimyo’s Palace. He was already expected and hence allowed entry. The first person he saw was Monari, the oldest living Uchiha in the world.
“Make one stupid move and this time nobody will be able to put you back in one peace.” She warned him.
Obito nodded and followed her. Soon he was brought into the room where Rin’s body was. Shiroken was also there, standing by the bed.
“She… she looks the same as before,” Obito said the moment he saw her.
“Well, I had put her inside a tree to save her, so her growth had stopped for a long time,” Shiroken explained.
When he saw Obito silently looking at her face, he decided to give him some space. “Monari, let’s go outside.”
Now alone, Obito touched Rin’s face. His eyes became watery, “Forgive me, Rin. I… I failed you. I didn’t protect the village… I didn’t become the Hokage… I… I killed sensei and his wife. I’M EVIL… I’m a murderer, I’m a killer… I…”
He broke down. After all, this was the girl he did all this for. She was his smile, she was his reason to chase for greatness. And without her, everything felt empty. But now, when she was here, he felt like he did not deserve her… Like he was incomplete.
“I killed so-so many people, Rin. I know you are kind, but even you won’t be able to forgive me, and you shouldn’t. And Kakashi… I hated him for so long, blinded by my rage, but I was the pawn all along.” Pain filled tears fell from his eyes, as his whole life flashed in front of his eyes, showing him his own worthlessness. “I was the reason behind what happened to you… I was the reason for bringing sadness to countless people.
“I can not go back in time and change anything. I must accept and atone for my actions. I… Goodbye, Rin. I loved you back then… I still do… and always will. Goodbye…”
For the last time, he caressed her face with his cold hand. Obito, broken and tired, pained in heart and mind, turned around to leave the room and make Shiroken keep his end of the bargain and kill him. His tears raining down didn’t stop though and made his vision blurry.
*WOOSH*
A sudden sound reached Obito’s ears and he felt his robes being pulled back. Thinking it was stuck on something, he turned… but… it was not stuck… it was caught.
“THEN LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF FIRST, OBITO, YOU DUMMY!”
