Naruto: Child of Chakra - Chapter 163
Haku gave Shiroken a nice little Shuriken with white beautiful paint and deep blue patterns on it. Kuronosuke gave him a big Dragon tooth, he said he found it in one of the expeditions to a cave with his grandpa once.
Apparently, this was from one of the dead members of his community. They died centuries ago yet their bones were still there.
The Bijuu gave him pats since they didn’t have anything to give that Shiroken didn’t have already. All they could give him was their love as a family.
Well, next was Tsunade, and she handed him a book, “I didn’t know what to give you, so… it’s a book written about you. It hasn’t hit the market yet.” She had written it herself secretly, in her pursuit to understand him better.
He smiled and took it, “Thank you, Tsunade. Stay here after the event, we should have a talk. I’ve been acting really cold towards you lately.”
She blushed and nodded, “It’s okay, I could understand what you were going through.”
Monari chuckled and patted Shiroken’s back, “Take her on a nice date or something later tomorrow.”
Soon, the party was hot and everyone was having fun, eating, drinking or just dancing. Chomei had taken up a new profession recently, something called Music Jockey, he just added sounds of various instruments that made pleasant music.
The other Bijuu were also there, talking to normal people or one another. The fact that normal people were even coming closer to them and talking while calmly drinking their drinks was proof enough that Shiroken’s policies to make people not afraid of the Bijuu had worked.
The lovers were in each other’s arms or holding hands, roaming around the market, eating and laughing. It was generally a very pleasing environment. The kids were running around, making fun of people.
Rakumatsu was shirtless, showing his muscles to everyone while Chiyo stood on the side with a blush on her face. It was weird how love even bloomed between them, but perhaps, love is blind.
In Shisui’s case, it is indeed true, as Konan and he fell for each other when Shisui didn’t have eyes. The boy must be happy that she turned out to be pretty too, not that it would have stopped him if she was not.
Obito and Rin had different problems. They liked each other a lot, but Rin was physically too small, at most looking like a 16-year-old teenager. So, Obito had to wait for now.
“Let’s go on a walk, Tsunade.” Shiroken extended his hand for her to hold. She obliged and walked beside him.
They arrived at the riverside and walked on the long pathway of the river banks. Most of the city was celebrating so it was empty thankfully.
She had no idea what she should talk about so she just silently walked beside him while looking at the hand that held hers. Shiroken also didn’t speak and silently walked, but he was in reality just observing what she does.
After a long fifteen minutes, he laughed, “Haha… don’t be so cute Tsunade, or I will make it a habit to tease you.”
“YOU… you were doing it deliberately? Here I was trying to act like a sweet maiden.” She replied in her normal brash manner.
“A man must learn to never miss any opportunities. You gave me one and I took it.” He said and put his arm around her shoulder. “Well, how have you been? I haven’t talked much with you in the past 9 months.”
“I’ve been alive. Everything’s boring. There isn’t much to do as the Hokage now, since work and responsibilities have been decentralised. I just have to sign some documents, smile and wave at a few folks.
Oh, I’ve also been working to make people recognise the Bijuu as non-violent beings. You should go on a world tour with all of them, so at least people get accustomed to seeing them.” Tsunade suggested, not minding Shiroken holding her by her shoulders tight and close to himself.
He nodded, “I learnt about what you’ve been up to, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have been a great help. And why not go on a tour tomorrow, it’s will be our big date, you can also get to know my parents, all 9 of them.”
She giggled, “I’ve been talking with Chomei a lot these days. He’s been to Konoha a few times. He holds his rap competition on the Hokage Rock, alongside Bee. They are lovely beings with sweet and warm hearts. They don’t make any deceitful acts, and they act as their attitude is. Unlike humans, who hide their true feelings most of the time.”
Shiroken agreed with her completely. The Bijuu were indeed what they showed themselves as. If they don’t like something, they would say it straight to your face. They don’t care about your feelings, since to them, lying is a stupid concept.
“Well, thanks for understanding them. Only if everyone else was like you. But, we are indeed making progress. And as long as I can stop the great danger looming over us, we can always be happy.” Shiroken looked at the sky and muttered.
Tsunade did the same and understood what threat he was talking about. She patted his hand on her shoulder, “Don’t worry, we’re in this together. They are a threat to the entire world, not just you.”
“I’m afraid… it’s not as easy, Tsunade. They will not be coming for this planet. They will come here for me. The planet is just the cherry on top. The last time when I killed that Otsutsuki, he told me, that once his clan realises that he’s missing, they will come, and in great numbers.” He revealed to her. This was the first time she heard this.
She stopped abruptly and looked into his eyes with worry, “Why do they want you?”
He smiled, “Look at me, and tell me I looked completely human.”
Tsunade looked down for a second, only to speak firmly again, “But, that’s not what matters. You are more human than any human in the world.”
“Tsunade, I am a being made of Natural Energy, I have no bones, blood or organs in me. I am a mystery to myself, as I don’t know what holds me together. I… I don’t even know if I can have kids. All I know is that the Otsutsuki clan made me via some experimentation. And if I can get this strong, then it’s obvious they want me to become their soldier.
“Tell me, if you were them, would you let a weapon like me go?” He asked her seriously.
She knew the answer. No, she would not let Shiroken go. He was a being with unlimited potential, if she was a universe travelling conquering alien, she would try to keep Shiroken no matter what.
Her heart filled with fear and sadness. She looked up at his face and the bright red shining stormy eyes which were staring at her too. They were very close to one another, under the bright moonlight.
Her eyes filled up with tears, not for the future, but for the current him. What does it feel like to prepare to fight an enemy who you know is too strong? Not even knowing your own fate or if your strength is enough, you just continue to live in that panic-filled terror. That what if… What if it’s not enough? What if… he fails, his family and his loved ones die?
What does it take for someone to laugh and joke with that much pressure constantly weighing down their shoulders? It must be bone-breaking.
She caressed his soft white face softly, “You don’t deserve this… you just want to live a peaceful life… with your family. I don’t want this… not when I finally have someone I…”
Shiroken let out a helpless sigh and hugged her tight, “Don’t worry, I won’t die so easily. I will give it my all.”
She pushed her face back and confidently added, “You will find me beside you. I don’t know how strong I am compared to them, I have tried my best to learn every powerful Jutsu possible, follow every training method you gave me, even tried to learn Senjutsu. I will continue to do so for as long as possible.
“Know this, no matter what, I will… always be with you, to fight your enemies to the best I can.”
Shiroken smiled, seeing the night sky and stars reflecting in her watery eyes. She was saying this from her heart, she would really give her life if she must for him, it was clear in her eyes.
A sense of warmth and closeness took over his body. If he had a heart, he knew it would beat very fast right now. He acknowledged her feelings, and they were as real as his very own existence.
“Then I must appreciate this kindness when due.” He blurted and suddenly moved his face closer to hers. Tsunade’s eyes widened for a moment, then mellowed down and finally closed, in the heat of emotions.
His lips brushed hers, softly, delicately, just long enough that he could inhale her breath, feel the warmth of her skin, and the taste of her lipstick lingered far after they had separated.
No words were spoken, yet the meaning of their dazzling eyes was clear.
Shiroken, the Child of Chakra, unknowingly affected the air around the city. Love finally bloomed, washing away the previous gloom. It was rejuvenating, and made the people feel like they were hallucinating.
[A/N: I hope I was able to make it as less cringy as possible.]
