Naruto: Spring’s Eyes - Volume 1 Chapter 5 A Weapon
A few days past by when Haru have met his first friend Minato Namikaze at the forest near their clan compound.
And in this past few days Haru Uchiha have been the most joyous and cheerful since he have experienced on what it really felt like to have a friend, although he sometimes played together with his clansmen his age, he still longed for him to gain a friend outside of the clan.
His father and mother have already noticed Haru’s positive state when he came back from playing with Minato. Curious on what made their son so happy they asked him.
“I have gained a friend when I was playing alone in the forest near the clan, his name is Minato Namikaze”.
“Oh! mama and papa do we have a fishing rod?”
Hiroshi and Akari were happy to hear that their son have gained a friend but was also cautious about him so they asked, “Do you know where your friend lived Haru? Maybe sometime you could invite him to our house we would love to meet him seeing how happy you are. And why would you want a fishing rod son?”
Haru oblivious to what his parents are thinking was excited from the idea his father suggested,”Oh really papa? I can invite him here? Minato is an orphan so he lives at the orphanage”
Hiroshi nodded with a smile seeing how excited their son was, he and Akari was also somewhat saddend about Minato’s orphaned situation as they know that a lot of children have become one because of the previous wars.
Seeing his father affirmative nod, Haru jumped high to his limits and was raising his arms up while shouting,”Yehey!”.
“So son why would you want a fishing rod?”, Akari asked her son again.
“Minato-kun have a fishing rod and we use it to catch some fishes at the nearby river in the forest, and I was just thinking maybe it would be faster if we have two of those”, Haru answered to his mother.
“Well we do have one, follow me”, Hiroshi said and walked out of their living room and Haru followed his father behind, leaving their mother in the living room.
They stopped walking when they reached the door of their cellar, Hiroshi opened the door and entered while Haru following closely behind. However when Haru entered he heavily coughed when heavy dust met his entrance he pinched his nose with watery-eyes when he have enough of coughing.
Hiroshi laughed amusely when he saw how adorable his son was, he shook his head in his own thought and said, “Wait here Haru let me go fetch the fishing rod that you wanted”.
Haru agreed and looked around the cellar of their house, because of how unkept and how the cellar was not always cleaned and maintained dust has ‘flooded’ the room, covering almost all of the items inside almost in the state of unrecognizable though you could make out some of the things in here through their shapes and indistinct colors.
While his father was busy trying to find the fishing rod in this mess of a room, he began to search through the mess to find something interesting, surely this room would not just contain regular stuffs right? Mama and papa are shinobis of the leaf so maybe there are shinobi stuffs inside this cellar, right? Hmmm that is the question.
Having thought this inside his little head he began to search in excitement coughing along the way, on his little journey for ‘treasure’ he notice something in the corner of his perception an object that looked like a crane of some sort atop a pile of boxes, curious Haru hopped from one box to another. When he saw that he couldn’t find anymore boxes to stand upon he looked at the ‘cane’. It was over a meter far, ‘It’s not that far maybe I could just reach for it’, Haru stood tippy toed and reached for the ‘cane’.
‘Just a little bit more… just… a little… pheww got it’, Having reached for the crane like object he first came down from the boxes he stood upon and only then observed the thing that made him curious.
When Little Haru finished observing the object he was shocked to discover it was no crane at all, in fact it was a katana! He knew that it was a weapon from the outward form of its handle. The handle was 27 cm in length wr.a.p.ed with black-silky cloth with a small realistic potrayal of a black tiger’s head in the middle of the handle with 4 small diamond shaped engraving at each side, the blade of the weapon was hidden by it’s also pitch black scabbard. Haru have mistaken it as a cane because all he could discern before was just the sheat and not it’s entirety. Furthermore, without the handle it’s appearance really looked completely like a walking stick for olden age men.
It was at this moment when his father covered in dust came over with a fishing rod. He saw Haru holding something but because his back was facing him he just thought it was a stick so he asked, “What do you have there Haru?”
Haru was completely engrossed of inspecting the ‘katana’ and was about to unsheat the scabbard when he suddenly heared the voice of his father behind him, he jumped up in fright from the sudden arrival of him and then faced Hiroshi with the most innocent look he could muster while hiding the weapon behind his back. Though it failed miserably since his chubby little frame couldn’t cover all of it.
