Naruto: Spring’s Eyes - Volume 1 Chapter 6 The Mysterious Katana.
Hiroshi smiled in amus.e.m.e.nt at his son and then asked again,”What do you have there Haru-chan?”
Haru paused and hesitated at first because his parents were individuals that are very strict with their children like the majority of the Uchihas, had teached him that taking things without permission was an act of indiscipline but they also taught him that hiding things was also the same. So Haru was in a dilemma whether he should admit it to his father or to just keep hiding it while also keeping his little mouth shut.
At last, thankfully Haru was very obedient towards his parents. Though he would sometimes let his curiousity get the better of him whenever his parents or other members of his family are not around his vicinity, Haru was described as an ultra curious child, and like children his age they would always be curious about life and nature though when it came to curiousity Haru is an enigma, sometimes even Haru’s curiousity would make him overthink things, shown on what made him come to this little dilemma of his. However, undoubtly when it came to his parents Haru was always filial and obedient.
Taking a small deep breath Haru slowly but surely moved both of his hands carrying the tall-lengthed katana, lifting it up for his father to see.
Hiroshi was confused and somewhat amused at his son’s display of action, though he also understood that he have just caught his son from doing trouble as majority of the time when his son act like this there was always shitty things that happen right after. Remembering a time when Haru almost set their house on fire because he was curious about what would happen to a massive piled up stack of dry leaves when ignited with a touch of fire and Hiroshi’s head sweat dropped remembering it.
Fortunately at that time thier kind bread baker neighbor Tomato Uchiha happend to pass by their house intending to deliver Anpan (Red bean paste bread) and Agepan (Deep-fried pan) and then he saw that Haru was holding a rolled up newspaper with a mad scientist grin on his face while at the tip of it was a small burning flame, and was holding it too closely to a ignited massive piled up of dry leaves. Luckily Hiroshi’s household owned a small pond in their backyard where it happend to be where Haru’s mostly curiousity pleasure experiment situated, so without hesitation Tomato Uchiha jumped on their fence and intruded their house and did a Water Style Jutsu to the piled up leaves, the small pond as the source of the water style jutsu.
And till to this very day Hiroshi and Akane was still so grateful to their fellow Uchiha clansmen that they showed their gratitude by buying their breads at his shop, making them his very likely most loyal customer.
(Back to the present)
“That…,” When Haru exposed what he have hidden behind his back, Hiroshi’s eyes narrowed dangerously for a second, unnervung Haru who immediately prepared for the worse and be scolded by his father, he lowered his head timidly and waited… for nothing to happen.
Though the weapon he was holding on his hands was snatched by his father who looked at the katana for a moment before fixing his gaze again back to his son with a stern gaze, “Where have you got this Haru-chan? and what did we told you about taking things without permission?”
“Sorry papa… It won’t happen again,” Haru muttured meekly under his breath with his head still lowered making his appearance oh so pitiful to look at.
He mustered the courage to cling on to the pants of his father while both hands cupped together and then he looked up at him with his best heart-wrenching puppy dog watery eyes… using the legendary puppy eyes jutsu at his father. And while at it he was sniffing like he was about to cry in tears, nose trembling and all with a cute pout from his mouth.
At that moment, not even a second after Haru used his ‘legendary’ jutsu, Hiroshi’s eyes immediately softend, he lifted Haru from the ground and cooed, “Ahwww, did I just made my Little Haru teared up? How irresponsible of me… Come now Little Haru don’t cry, It’s alright”.
As if he didn’t believe his father, he looked at him while in his arms with a dam of water that was threatening to burst out from his eyes, he whispered with a stutter, “Re-really?”
“Yes, really. So stop crying little Haru, didn’t you said that you wanted to be like me and your mom, a shinobi. Well let me tell you this my boy, a true shinobi never cry even in the toughest situations, on the contrary you should stay calm and sharpen your mind, always remember that Haru,” Hiroshi said to his son with a lecture gentle and ease gaze.
Sniffing one last loud snort, Haru gazed at gis father in the eyes, gone was the pitiful look on his beautiful and adorable face replaced by a determined look that is much fitting of a Uchiha, Haru nodded strongly, “Mhm!”
“That’s my boy Haru”, Hiroshi said proudly and tickling his son on his side making him laugh, easing the mood to a cheerful one. He placed the katana on the worn-out table near them and sofly put down his son back on to the ground.
While his father was gently dusting off the dust on his clothes, Haru glanced at the katana and questioned Hiroshi after a moment, “Father? Why do we have a katana in the cellar? Is it already old and rusty that you have to store it in here? Or is it something else? Can you tell me about it?”.
Standing up straight after dusting his son up, Hiroshi took a deep look at the said katana then he returned his gaze at his son and said, “Old and rusty? Heheheh nah Haru, this blade is not at all shabby, in contrast this katana is just as fine as a newly forged one, or not better!”
“Then why would you look at me scarily like that then? I thought this thing was something of a memorial value to you”, Haru said with a pout, shocking Hiroshi by Haru’s intellectual reasoning, only individuals with such clear and experience mindset could deduct such a cause and Haru was only a child, a five year-old child.
