Necromancer Supreme System - Chapter 6
Although he couldn’t join, the battle was heading towards his troops’ victory, as they had high morale right now. The anger and frustration these soldiers buried deeply inside their souls finally had the chance to boil on the surface.
They vented all their anger towards these monsters, so even when the two sides had nearly equal numbers, the soldiers had a winning momentum, pushing the frontline steadily further away.
Ibro’s concern was regarding the bridges that the demons and monsters had established on the banks of the two small rivers, as they were the only link now between his moving troops and the village.
He even suspected that his enemy was giving it easy to his soldiers to lure them deeper, far away from the village. Ibro suspected a trap, so he said to one of the biggest dragons in the air:
“Go to the soldiers there and look for Mamor, tell him not to push it too far. A trap might be awaiting for them. After that lead all dragons and hover above the bridges over there, don’t let anyone touch them no matter what.”
“At once, my king.”
The dragon then led a group of a hundred and went to the troops far away. Ibro was worried about his soldiers, as they were up against a treacherous enemy.
He was sure of his instincts, so if this enemy smelled that his soldiers didn’t take the bait, it might retaliate violently and show its true strength.
So, Ibro had to guard against that, after all these soldiers were his, and they were the cream of the croup, veteran soldiers that he could use to build another mighty army.
“All liches capable of summoning death knights and death kings curses start summoning. Send the summoned skeletons to the front, as reinforcements to the troops out there.
The rest of you start summoning other skeletons and make them guard the bridges and the other cave entrance near the village walls.”
Ibro had some vague feeling about a trap, so he didn’t want to leave any place unguarded. He didn’t know from where his enemies would choose to counterattack him. Ibro remained in his place for nearly an hour, during which he never ceased summoning liches even for one moment.
His troops were gaining more ground easier than he expected, and that made him more sure about his previous guess. The only worrying thing was that the enemy out there didn’t adjust his tactics even after the addition of death knights and kings.
Death knights were a deadly weapon against monsters, as they had great mobility and flexible maneuvers. They could be here and in the next minute you found them somewhere else.
As for death kings, they were able to summon big numbers of skeletons and command them in battle. Although these skeletons were low ranks, their numbers made up for that.
The ground battlefield was getting stabilized as the reports came every once in a while. the lower world was being filled right now with increasing numbers of graveyards that stretched to reach the opening of the other cave.
Ibro didn’t feel reassured, though, as he didn’t order his skeletons to move away from the second cave entrance, instead, he continued to send more liches there. The vague feeling inside him was getting stronger by each passing minute.
He didn’t wait long, as once his armies stopped pursuing the monsters and began to organize defensive lines, the monster army retaliated as Ibro expected. The first thing to change was the addition of the flying legion, with greater numbers than the previous legion which Ibro’s dragons faced.
‘Huh, you are finally starting to move,’ Ibro muttered to himself, but he didn’t do anything except sending the orders for his dragons to meet the new enemy. He didn’t send all the dragons, as he had bigger numbers than the flying monster legion.
The rest of the dragons kept hovering over the rivers aiding the ground skeletons in guarding it. Ibro sensed there was something fishy about such a move, as if the enemy wanted to drag his dragons away. So, he started to adjust his strategy as well.
‘Start using the dragon summoning curse.’
Ibro ordered his system, which complied without saying a word. The system was already busy watching over the whole battlefield, relaying orders here and there, and keeping an eye over the distant parts where no fight was occurring at.
The dragons appeared with their huge bodies that stretched over one hundred meters. There were some who were bigger than the rest, with bodies reaching from three hundred to five hundred meters.
These were his big dragons, sentient beings that could speak with Ibro and lead his skeleton armies. Ibro considered them as his skeleton generals, so he was glad to have a bunch of them every now and then.
“All dragons move towards the rivers and guard them immediately.”
Ibro’s orders were unquestionable, so the dragons moved with unison, except for three big dragons who kept their watch here.
They were responsible for relaying the same orders for the newly summoned dragons, and also help in guarding this place. This battle was far from over, Ibro was sure about that.
Ten minutes didn’t pass by, and another flying monster legion appeared from far. It was the same as the previous one in type and numbers.
Ibro squinted his eyes, now he had some grasp over his enemy’s tactics and trap. Whatever that attack would be, it would come from the sky, that was the undeniable truth in front of him now.
The first flying monster legion wasn’t yet destroyed, so Ibro had to branch out another patch of his newly summoned dragons.
‘Relay my orders to all the liches here, any lich who can summon dragons start summoning them now and stop what they are doing.’
Ibro ordered his system coldly, as he wouldn’t let his enemy’s plans go on smoothly. Ibro then continued to summon dragons, as he lamented his bad luck, why didn’t he have a graveyard that would summon dragons as well? This way, he wouldn’t need to work this hard to secure his village.
Ibro’s liches began to summon dragons all over the place, so the sky began to be crowded by them. Ibro wasn’t sure yet of the nature of the threat coming from the stronghold monsters, so he preferred to make all the dragons centered over his village.
On the other hand, the attacks on his soldiers were really weird, as sometimes the monsters became ferocious and attacked his armies without retreat, while other times they began to retreat and be on defense. Ibro observed this for minutes, and he didn’t find a clue, so he asked his system:
‘Why do I feel something is off at that battlefield. Do you spot anything unusual?’
