Negai o Kanaete Moraou to Akuma o Shōkan Shitakedo, Kawaikattanode Kekkonshimashita ~ Akuma no Nīdzuma - CH 130
A few minutes passed after Helvi picked Theo up, and they finally cooled off enough to talk.
Helvi put Theo down, but they were still far enough away from shore that Theo could just barely poke his face above water.
“I-I can’t go… Any further…”
“Fufu, seems like it.”
“D-don’t laugh…”
Helvi smiled at the adorable image that was Theo trying to keep his face above water.
It was actually quite difficult for him, since he had to make an effort to reach that high. Unless Helvi held him up like she did before, that was as far as they could go.
Helvi herself would be in the same situation if they advanced just a little more.
“Should we go back to the shore?”
Every time a wave hit, some salty water entered Theo’s mouth and he frowned.
Helvi could look at his reactions all day.
“Do you want to keep going?”
“W-well, I guess, but I don’t think I can.”
“Let us continue then.”
“Eh… H-hum, being carried by you is a little embarrassing…”
It was too embarrassing for a boy like Theo to be carried around, so he really wanted to avoid that, but…
“No, I can simply use magic.”
“Eh?”
Helvi snapped her fingers as she always did.
“Try going underwater.”
“Eh? But…”
“Just try it.”
Helvi grabbed Theo’s hand and moved forward, making him completely submersed.
Theo was scared at first, and he held his breath and closed his eyes… Until he noticed that the water was not hitting his face.
He slowly opened his eyes, and saw he was in the ocean.
He was not swimming, but rather walking on the ocean floor.
Most surprising of all was that he could breathe. One of the few things he knew before going there was that people could not breathe underwater.
And yet he was breathing normally… The reason was obvious.
“Helvi, did you do something?”
“Yes, I made it so your face is covered with air. That is why you can breathe and open your eyes normally.”
“This is… Great! Thank you!”
“It really is no big deal.”
Theo gave up on the idea of going any further, so he did not think for even a second he could go underwater.
“T-then, can I go wherever I want!?”
“Yes, as long as you are with me.”
In actuality, going too deep would cause some problems, since the light from the sun would not reach those depths, which meant it would be dark and cold. Not to mention that the water pressure could crush someone’s body.
However, none of it would be too much of an issue as long as Helvi was around.
If Theo did want to go that far, she would go with him, but he was impressed with just being able to breathe underwater in a slightly deep part.
“Wow. Look, a small fish! Ah, it’s fast…!”
Theo tried to swim towards the fish, but even smaller fish were faster than Theo underwater.
Anytime he tried to get close, the fish would run in the opposite direction.
“This way.”
“Ah, thank you.”
Helvi grabbed Theo’s hand and started moving. It did not take long for them to be close enough to the fish to touch it.
“Helvi, you can swim!”
“I am simply using magic to move. This is not really swimming.”
She used magic to manipulate water, as if it was carrying them. It was easy for Helvi, but impossible for most sorcerers.
Theo knew nothing about high level magic, and simply enjoyed his stroll through the ocean.
“That fish’s patterns are really pretty! Ah, Helvi, look up! The way the light is reflecting is beautiful!”
“Fufu, it is. Sunlight does look quite magical when seen from here.”
“Wow…!”
Theo and Helvi continued to hold hands as they walked for a while longer.
