Negai o Kanaete Moraou to Akuma o Shōkan Shitakedo, Kawaikattanode Kekkonshimashita ~ Akuma no Nīdzuma - CH 84
The trio shook inside the carriage for about an hour before reaching the capital.
Theo put his head out the window and gazed at the big rampart around the city.
“Wow… The walls are more than double the size of Nemophila’s…!”
“Mister Theo, do not lean outside too much. If the carriage shakes too much you might fall.”
“Ah, y-you’re right, sorry.”
“Do not worry Theo. You will not get hurt as long as I am around.”
“T-thank you…!”
“Oh miss Helvi, you’re so cool.”
Said Inessa as she lightly giggled, as though she were joking.
(Ahh… Ahh… Oh miss Helvi… Although those words were not directed at me, they make my heart race…!)
Inessa thought.
After taking care of the formalities at the gate, they entered the city.
They took the opportunity to also hand the mercenaries that attacked them over to the soldiers.
“There’s so many people…!”
“I am surprised as well.”
“It is the capital after all. There are probably more than fifty thousand people here.”
They said as they looked outside through the carriage.
Helvi had also never seen so many people in one place. That was how lively and prosperous the capital was.
Not only that, but many different races coexisted. When they looked outside, they saw not only humans, but also beings such as elves and beast people as well.
It was the first time Helvi had seen someone who was not human since she returned to this world after being summoned by Theo.
It seemed as though they had not gone extinct.
“Where do you intend to stay? If you have not made preparations yet, I can arrange for you to stay in a luxurious inn.”
It was an inn managed by Inessa, so she could arrange for them to stay in the best room free of charge.
If they wished, they could stay there semi-permanently.
“Ah, sorry, someone already took care of that for us…”
“Oh, is that so?”
“Well, our acquaintances are well connected with nobles in the capital, so we are supposed to talk to one.”
Helvi snapped her fingers, and a letter appeared in front of her, which she was supposed to show to a noble that Xena and Celia had helped before.
It had the crest of said noble.
“Do you know this noble?”
“Let me see…!”
Inessa’s face distorted and she sat up straight upon seeing the crest.
“I see. Thankfully, I do.”
“…You made quite the face there for a moment. Are you alright?”
“I apologize. We are business rivals, so I have some thoughts about them. ”
“I-I see… That’s natural…”
Her expression led Theo to believe that there was more than she was letting on.
“Then let us go to this noble’s home first. If possible, I will propose that you stay in my luxurious inn.”
“Are you sure? You don’t have to go out of your way…”
“No problem. I just wish to repay you for what you did for me.”
(Well, that is not all. I also want to have some connection to Helvi…!)
Helvi figured that was what she was thinking even before reading her mind.
Helvi figured they could compare the inns that Inessa and said noble had for them and take the best one, and leave Inessa’s thoughts aside for the time being.
The carriage crossed a busy shopping district, and reached a town for nobles, lined with big buildings.
“This is my home.”
“Wow… So big…!”
Said Theo as he looked on with his head outside the window.
It was a big house with a large, beautiful garden. A wonderful mansion even among the others in this town for nobles.
“Were you not supposed to take us to that noble’s house and not yours?”
“Yes miss Helvi. That house… Is actually next to mine.”
“…I see.”
Even nobles had childhood friends.
The house next to Inessa’s was just as, or even more extravagant.
“Should I ask the doorman to go get… Excuse me, call her? I assume she is home at this hour.”
Theo figured from these words that Inessa did not care much for the person next door.
They left the carriage, and after waiting for a short while, a girl came out.
“Hello! My name is Idea Scanzi!”
“H-hum… Hello…?”
“Mister Theo and miss Helvi, correct!? I heard about you from Xena and Celia! It’s a pleasure to meet you!”
“Yes, hum… Are you a kid?”
Theo was not entirely wrong to think this.
Her face looked adorably young, and her height stood at around a meter and forty centimeters.
She had wide and bright gold colored eyes. Her curly hair was reddish brown and reached her shoulders, and it adorably bounced when she moved.
She also had the ears of a fox, that would occasionally twitch, and her cute dress had a hole on the back around her waist for her fluffy tail.
It seemed this Idea was a beast person.
“Mister Theo, Idea may seem young, but she is actually twenty four.”
“E-eh!? I-I’m sorry! That was so rude…!”
“Hahaha, it’s fine! I am quite used to it! But…”
Idea let out a cute laugh, while looking at Inessa with scary eyes.”
“Was there any need to say my age? We are the same age Inessa.”
“Oh my, I apologize. I meant no harm, I only said it because you look so young.”
“That was very much unneeded, but thank you anyway.”
Although they smiled, their eyes did not.
“A-are they friends…?”
“I do not know, but they do not seem like enemies.”
Said Theo and Helvi as they looked on.
