Negative -Girls: To Live And Die - Chapter 25
A saviour, an angel! For she who loves the world, gives the sweating woman to hold the door, and only her (a bit) muscular arm holds the door from crunching Sohee’s arm.
The arm pulls away.
The arm gets released from the conflict.
In the end, no one wins. Only hurts.
As if realizing what she had done for the past few minutes, Mei jumps back from the door, leaving our view but a laughing door. A hurry of footsteps is distancing away. Thuds and crashes sound coming behind the door. Mom would not like her favourite vase disappeared from the low table. If even Mei has a ‘mom.’ And if she has anywhere to hide from guilt I can imagine her burying herself with her blanket on a bed.. Trembling. Feeling every second of the moment when Sohee felt pain.
The pink teary eyes watch her red arm, knowing as the days move slowly turning blue. purple or black (which one is the ugliest is the worse I suppose), defiling her beauty white. Worse, more days later she would have yellow or green colour, probably. How do I know this? Maybe I was an expert on bruises in a past life. Perhaps the old user’s intuition is involved as well.
The woman sighs. She turns to Sohee, making a ‘what should I do with these girls’ expression and grabs Sohee’s arm, checking around it as if her tear is not enough to show she is hurt. “This happened again?” she mutters and my ear picks it up.
Sohee tries to shake her hand away from the grasp, “I–I’m okay.” she sniffs, holding her urge to cry.
The woman, of course, is an intellectual being who probably has studies at Harvard and declines an invitation from NASA to pursue her love in whatever specific sarcastic story, decides to reply: “no, you’re not.” she says with a big sister’s concern voice, “something must have triggered that side of her again.”
Again? Another thing to find out then. List that in my mind, finds out the fuck is wrong with Mei in details. Not that I care, I don’t want to be involve in someone’s problem (if you are please take care of yourself) but if I don’t I’m not going to die anytime soon.
Sohee shakes her head as her lips and chin trembling “It’s, it’s my fault. I should apologize to Mei.”
The woman looks at Sohee, squishing her thin eyebrows in question. Sohee tries to hide behind her bang but comes forward to explain slowly, carefully now. “I–I brought her tutor so suddenly.”
The green sharper eyes sway to me. I’m being scan once again. But really, almost everybody loves to scan me, trying to figure out what’s wrong with me. Not that they can see anything but probably, they can taste something not right in me. Something was broken. Out of place. Different.
She crosses her arm, “So he’s the tutor that you told us.”
Sohee nods, still caressing her arm.
I once again put my palm over my head and slightly nod, “yo.”
She frowns as if my best greeting I came up with today has offended her somehow. Her finger holds up toward me accusingly, “why didn’t you help her?”
I don’t want to answer that.
The woman grits her teeth at my silence. her nose wrinkles, picking up the smell of me. Her shaking fist could land on my cheek anytime now and if she does, that’s okay, I wish I could hit myself to death, too.
But thankfully, no one will hurt anyone else. For now.
“It’s all right.” Sohee says as she touches the woman’s arm as if her touch could do a miracle. And it did. The woman calms down. My cheek is save for another day. Sohee continues, “Sunbae did the right thing.”
Have I ever done anything right? I don’t know but it feels right for me. But then again according to Life and Death, I am ‘perfected,’ a minority of human, immortal for now, and an asshole who doesn’t give a shit if other people are hurting or die.
The woman snorts and tears away her glare from me (hey, Carrie did that too. Speaking of her, I wonder where she is now? Did she get electrocuted already or toxic radiation from too much gaming?). Her tight lips move, “it’s not all right. Not from my eyes.”
“Sister Tammy–”
“Sister?” A light sarcasm, cutting Sohee’s lips. The woman’s sigh who I guess now (sister)Tammy. “Drop the sister, Sohee. Told you that long ago and every time.” Her eyes land on her worsening arm, “should you go back home now? Or you want me to help with that? I don’t remember much about treating someone but I do have first aid in my house.” She glances at me as if I’m an object, “or maybe he could prove himself as human. Oh, do I hope this tutor at least could be a little help and actually know how to use it.”
What do you mean? Even a middle-schooler knows everything about First Aid.
Sohee looks down the floor as if denying the request, “I–I have to talk with Mei.”
“Soh–” her voice cracks and she quickly clears her throat. Tammy smiles reassuringly and slowly put off Sohee’s touch, “don’t worry,” she says gently, “I talk to Mei first.”
And with that, Tammy walks into her house. The door closes peacefully.
And the hallway is silenced.
And in that nothingness, I pick up sobbing.
“Should we find a place?” I speak to Sohee, “maybe that helps.”
“It–It would do,” she sniffs.
Hey, no is around. Maybe I could take some advantage.
Slowly I put Sohee sobbing in my chest and I’m more than happy to be provided with this opportunity. First, it’s the least I can do to return a portion of all her help. And second, some more point for her to love me.
May Sohee be of use to me forever.
