Negative -Girls: To Live And Die - Chapter 38
I realize one of the reasons Mei agrees with the plan is because I don’t have a car, disappointingly speaking. That is only disappointing to me. I can feel Mei is rejoice of the fact. If she’s left in a closed space alone and for longer than a minute, she’ll freak out. And will bang her head on the wall to death. I reckon.
So using our legs is more than fine for her. And again, for her at least. I hate walking. I hope I can cut my foot off and sit on a wheelchair. But that would be painful and I hate pain so I let go of the plan long ago.
The morning is somewhere green-cyan. Wearing this jacker proves useful againts the breezes.
I let Mei leads the way.
And our walk to school begins as that.
I keep my distance at least a meter from her so she won’t be trembling like a lost puppy and gives other people the wrong impression of me. It’s cute but unhealthy. And boring now. At this hour, there aren’t that many people. Or maybe in this place. Or maybe in this world.
The walk wouldn’t be long. It’s 5:30 A.M now and by simple math and experience walking to the school at my pace, we’d reached our White Book High by 6 or around it. But the walk is certainly a silent one. Although I couldn’t start a conversation, I know that Mei feels less uncomfortable this way. If this is Sohee she would be asking a lot of questions just to bait my thrilling voice out. Thrill, the same for Mei but a bit on the negative side. I wonder what Sohee is doing right now? If Mei comes this early to school, I guess she would, too.
Our walk is quiet, but not lonely; I could hear footsteps behind me. I just realise that, how long have they been following us? Oh, they’re not. They’re just random people doing random things. I couldn’t care. Other people don’t matter.
I don’t think the kidnapper would like to kidnap someone this early morning. Kidnapping is a tiring job anyway, so they should be resting now. What? I’m not joking. Imagine managing other parents’ children. It’s a tiring job.
Mei is the type of girl who walks with her hand in front of her and if not for the blanket jacket she would be a model walking on this neighbourhood street. I mean I couldn’t see her ass like this.
Bark!
Behind me someone’s dog barks (jumpscare) and runs past me. The pitch is too high for a dog so–a brown puppy with blue rope around its head swaying its tail like a windscreen wiper.
Mei stops. I stop.
Oh, the dog is staring at Mei. She would be tear to shred now! And that would bring me nothing but trouble. It’s time to kick someone’s dog, I guess.
Bark! Bark!
Or not.
Barks like those sound affectionate. Maybe it wants to mate with Mei.
…
Prepare to kick someone’s dork I guess.
I can’t see but Mei should be smiling and say, “Lo!”
Or no kicking.
I guess they know each other.
She crouches down and starts to use her hand to touch the dog. Pat and massaged. I wish I could do it, too. With Mei.
“Where is Miss Pon?” she asks with concern.
From my side a woman runs past wearing a green dress. She walks to Lo and grabs the leash, wearing an apologetic smile.
“I’m sorry this happened again, Miss Mei,” the woman says.
Mei waves her hand as if nothing is wrong, “it’s, it’s all right, Miss Pon. I–I like Lo’s company anyway.”
All of us smiles. On second thought, I should have just let them both smile in this scene.. what I’m supposed to smile? I’m three meter away from them, watching as if I’m a stalker in broad daylight something.
Mei and the woman are chatting. They just like to do that. The dog Lo is more than happy being touched by Mei–I envy that little bitch. Hope one of these day Mei would use her hand to make me feel comfortable. One of the day Mei dealt with her androphobic. Good thing is she’s trying.
I have nothing to do so I look around.
And my eyes collide with a man, drinking slurpee. Why? He also wears a jacket for winter. People in here are sure weird.
We bow to each other.
The woman points at me with a frown, “do you know that man?”
Mei turns to me and realizes she has kept me here for the past few minutes boring.
The woman continues, “he’s been following you.”
“Miss Pon,” Mei bows down, “th, thank you for your concern but,” she glances at my shoes–they’re quite normal. Black and shiny, just like my life. They do say shoes make the first impression on anybody. Mei turns to Miss Po, “but he’s following me is already consented.”
“But Mei…don’t you have a…” It seems this Miss Pon knows Mei well.
Mei shakes her head, “I–I know but I can do it.”
At least she thinks she can. Keep lying, then anything can be true.
“Be careful my dear. Though he looks trustworthy with his handsome features,” she studies me as she whispers–or at least tries to because her mouth just too big to miss what she says, “the good looking ones are the one always committing horrible crimes.”
Looks like someone has a bad highschool story. Also a good time watching Netflix or novels or something.
“And he’s been looking at me so strangely too.”
Though Miss Pon sounds young but I can see a bit of wrinkle up her forehead, and a tired-of-life under her eyes (which is attractive to me.) However, I have my own preference of milf. What you may ask? I’ll leave as that.
Mei glances at my shoes again–maybe my shoes are something abnormal, do they have blades something? “I–I don’t think he’s interested in you, Miss Pon.”
Usually I would put it as, I don’t with a question mark behind. But I do. Swipe right.
Miss Pon has the right to frown. Just like Tammy, she feels offended when a man thinks them uninteresting or undesirable but also doesn’t let a man think them as such a way. It’s confusing but not really that mysterious.
Mei bows two times quickly, “I–I’m sorry it sounds wrong. No offense Miss Pon but–” she looks down at the dog Lo which anytime now will ejaculate, “I meant Lo is really pretty. Even I was captured the first time I look at her. My–My tutor must have been the same.”
Oh, absolutely. I like dogs. They are submissive. I like submission. But you know? I’m right here…can you just, i don’t know, speak to me?
I finally let out a voice, “she’s right you know, I’m very interested in your dog.”
“Tutor?” Miss Pon lets out a confusing groan.
Mei nods and Miss Pon glances at me, “oh, so he’s the new tutor for our girls. There must be a reason but could I know why do you want him to follow you around?”
Again…I’m here. Hello?
Despite answering Mei focus herself patting Lo. She looks happy with her smile and smaller eyes. Happy, distracting her from uncomfortable truth.
Miss Pon gets the hint, I’d be surprised if she didn’t. She excuses herself and takes beautiful satisfied Lo away from our view.
“She seems nice,” I say.
“Miss Pon is,” she heaves a sigh, “but she’s n-not that really happy of a…woman.”
Hm…I could ask but I just don’t care whatever Miss Pon state of mind is. Not really interested in her.
Mei starts to walk and I follow.
We’re about to leave the neighbourhood and Mei starts to speak, “S, Sunbae?” She still looks in front of her so I doubt looking at her direction will tell her I’m listening.
I stop my footstep.
“Ca–Can we stop by somewhere first?”
I have no right to refuse, “sure, lead the way.”
