Negative -Girls: To Live And Die - Chapter 47
“I feel bad,” Fatty starts as she follows her friends with her plump legs under the Pay And Play shed from the glaring sun.
Sharp eyes sighs as if she can’t believe what her friend is saying now, “Are you fucking serious? How can you feel bad for him?” She fans herself with her hand as she glances at Fatty, “And here I thought your fat was the only thing that was soft and now you’re telling your heart is also soft? Stop kidding around.”
“Urg,” Fatty lines her eyes in defeat, “god, why must you use cruel words?”
Sharp eyes snickers, “Shut the fuck up, that’s how I am. Sue me.”
Fatty takes a good look at her two friends and shakes her head, “At least you should feel a little guilt, you know? We lied to him after all.”
Nerdy was about to ignore the two but seems irritated by her friend’s remark, “Tch, that’s not true.”
Fatty looks at her in doubt.
“Look,” Nerdy makes a ‘why do I need to explain this’ face, “It has been fair, all right?”
She points at Sharp Eyes and says, “Georgia has answered all three of his questions, didn’t she?”
Sharp eyes who apparently has a name called Georgia, nods as she pats her hard pocket.
“Or she could be lying,”” Fatty mumbles.
And Sharp Eyes Georgia heard that, “The fuck is your problem, man? It’s not about me lying or anything else. I’ve answered and that’s the deal.”
“But I feel so dirty,” Fatty mumbles.
“Anyway,” Nerdy begins, stopping the fight, “this is not what we have to fight about. He said himself that if he got the answers to his questions he would leave us alone.
“But would he?” Nerdy glance at Fatty. And she stares down as if thinking.
Nerdy continues, “Who would believe a random stranger anyway? Not me. And I suppose, not you guys, too.”
The two begin to nod.
Nerdy sighs helplessly, “The only reason why we have to sneak away from him is to let him keep his own words. If anything he should be thankful to us. We make everything clean.”
The two get convinced as they nod in understanding now.
Fatty sighs in defeat, “I can’t say you’re wrong there, Kira.” She looks at Nerdy. “I…I just hope he’s not too mad we just left him like that.”
What Fatty said really makes Sharp Eyes snorts loudly.
“Why do you care about that man?” Sharp Eyes glances suggestively, “Oh don’t tell me if somehow god from nowhere gives you a chance to meet him again, you’ll let him fuck you?”
Fatty flushes her fat cheek, “Wha–no, no I’m not!”
“Whatever thirsty girl.” Sharp eyes chuckles, “He’s not going to appear out of the blue now.
“That’d be just ridiculous.”
That gets Nerdy started.
“Why, what’s wrong?” Fatty asks.
“I don’t know,” Nerdy opens her mouth and tastes the air, postures herself as she ‘perks up’. She explains to her also worried friends, “I feel something wrong.”
“Something bothers you?” Nerdy asks. Her eyes glance at her sideways.
“By chance,” Nerdy starts as she turns to her friend and looks deep into each of their eyes. She knows a liar when she sees one. “Did you two tell him where we’re going?”
Sharp eyes sighs, “Oh come on, girl. Why would we?”
Fatty agrees as she nods her big head, “I–I don’t remember saying anything about Pay and Play to him.
“And it’s just a bit of a chance that some random tutor knows about this cyber cafe.” Fatty continues, sounding smart. “I mean, if not for this place being not popular we wouldn’t choose here anyway.”
Nerdy sighs as her whole body goes slump, “Sorry,” She apologises, “It’s just–Carrie wouldn’t like the idea of us leading her tutor to find her intentionally skipping school to play PC games. I just somehow worry that the guy will appear out of nowhere again.”
Sharp eyes shrugs, “hey, it’s okay to worry, Kira. That is something important anyway right? I mean, it’s all right to worry like we all do.”
“Yeah.”
And now they seem more of a friend.
Fatty shakes her laugh as she pats Nerdy’s back, “do-don’t worry, Kira. It’s not like he’s going to appear out of the blue like last time.”
Are you sure about that?
I appear out of the blue like last time.
“UWaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
And gets a palm shoved on my face.
Owch. Man, I shouldn’t tease them too hard.
The three of them took time to process everything as they studied me.
“Oh goddamit!” Sharp eyes shouts, the first one to snap, “How long have you been there?”
I gesture them to be assured, “First off, not my fault you three didn’t realize I was standing here, and secondly, long enough. In fact, I was here before any of you.”
Sharp Eyes reaches for her pocket as she shouts, “I–I’m going to report you to the police! For stalking!”
Woah, wait now. That’s really unnecessary.
I look at Fatty for a help but it seems she’s taking on her friends’ side this time. Aw man, I was thinking to give you a chance riding me but now, I don’t think so.
I begin to calmly explain that I’m not a threat, “Like I said…I was the one first here and you guys came a minute after. Can it be considered stalking that way? Oh and by the way do you bring any chargers? Can I borrow them? My phone is on three percents.”
“I don’t care,” she grabs her phone from her pocket.
I shrug, “Oh well, this is going to be noisy. I can’t stop you guys. And my phone is going to die before me…”
I don’t like talking with the police–or rather I don’t like answering their professional questions. All they do is work. No joke. They’re boring people. Well, most of them. It’s a boring job anyway. Always catching something. There’s no thrill in always being the catcher. And also anyone would have an anxiety attack if someone says, ‘you have the right to remain silent and, wait–did you just say fuck? Ha–that’d come out in the court record, loser.’ But they don’t care. Hence, fuck the police.
Nerdy pulls down Sharp eyes’ hand, shaking her head as if telling her calling the police is a dumb idea. Which I agree with. The four eyes catches me, “If not by following us and stalking, how else did you find us?”
Hey, that’s an easy question.
“Well,” I take my phone and shake it around, “GPS has been a good friend of mine since then. And now it’s about to die. I don’t think I can save him. Oh well on that.”
They stare at me blankly,
I begin to seriously explain, ‘Pay and Play is an easy name to remember you know? Though it’s not so famous…” I look at the too suspicious store to be called a cyber cafe. “Some people would never forget that kind of name.”
It’s creative, I can tell you that.
Nerdy face palmed, “Who told you about this place?”
“I don’t remember,” I lie. It’s Xin Sensei but I don’t want to give you that. I suggestively look at each of them, “But let’s just say, when you thought I wasn’t anywhere I was there.”
This is me trying to mess with their trust in each other. If it succeeded, I have a smoother way to bribe them for information.
But they aren’t taking the bait. It’s worth a try anyway.
“Don’t sound like batman,” Nerdy says.
“I prefer Marvel actually. My favourite superhero is Doctor Strange. Because he has magic. And he’s strange.”
They don’t take my small talk.
Sharp Eyes narrows her eyes at me, “So is that you admitting you eavesdroped on us?”
I shrug, “like I said, again, it’s not my fault you guys not realise I was beside you to hear–I don’t know if that could be considered eavesdropping or not.”
The three of them slump their shoulders and sigh. It seems they can’t do anything about it now. I’m here and they somehow have to deal with it.
I also have to deal with this much hostility being thrown at me like this. The only thing I’m trying to do is to know my students better here. Why in the hell does it feel like the whole world is trying to stop me?
To make their expression worse, the store’s door jiggles and opens.
“We’re dead.” Their faces paled as they turned to see the door.
It’s almost like they positioned themselves to hide me from someone. But I am tall enough for them to fail.
“Why?” I ask.
They are about to answer when their feet spring up into the air as a cute dragonic voice rings in front of us.
“Ca–Carrie?” Nerdy says, her voice shaking.
Sighhhh… and here’s the voice of the girl I’ve been searching for these past few hours. “Finally, my useless and ugly looking teammate is here.” Her voice is somehow heavier than usual.
It’s Carrie with an all-black hoodie, putting her fists on her hips, almost pouting (but not so but is still pretty cute.) Her long red hair almost touching the pavement floor which is not what we saw back in the reconcile room. Her hair always touches the floor. But maybe she lets it down because it’s clean. Our ground now is nothing but dust and rocks. So I guessed she had pulled it up a little bit.
Her blaring eyes lock on me.
And instead of shock, her face of contempt, “Ah, and my noobish face tutor apparently.”
I smile.
The word ‘my’ in her sentence makes me happy.
