Negative -Girls: To Live And Die - Chapter 71
I “Thank you, Sunbae,” is the last sentence Sohee made before everything goes back to awkward silence. Mei has absolutely given up trying to make Sohee abandoned her duty for her.
‘No, it’s me that should be sorry, Sohee. I should have understand that you have responsibility.’ Mei said but I know better that she’s disappointed of Sohee. And for some reason she didn’t stutter. Maybe that time she didn’t see me or Sohee weak smile might have distracted her androphobia.
Again with the past tense. What’s going on with me?
Anyway, after out brief talk and having Sohee walks away from us (of course not before a cute wave from her), Mei suddenly jolts up. A cold water hits her–she have to walk home with me.
I don’t know which part is the scarier, the fact that I’m a male and am going to follow her around or the fact that there’s somebody out there going to abdicate her. I couldn’t imagine, mostly because I’m not an androphobic and no one wants to kidnap me.
The last part is kinda wrong. I mean, Life and Death technically just kidnapped me from my old world and force me into this new one. Well, we all have our perception about something so it doesn’t matter what I or you think.
No one should agrees with anything from somebody else.
Just like this voice behind me, screaming. STOP. YOu’re GoiNg To 2 hurt HEer. SToP.
Just ignore them.
I nod at Mei when I catch her glancing at my way and ask, “Should we get going?”?
Mei bows down when all she has to do is nod back.
And then we moves. When she realized there’s nothing more to be doing in this hallway with Sohee has left her, Mei jolts up and start walking away from me. Or rather, start walking back to her home.
Just like last time, I respect her one metre distance. This is going to be usual. I said that but that’s only if this is going to continue for another day.
Mei could hate this and our little bodyguard roleplay will ended. But let’s not worry here, as Sohee said, I only have to make sure not to appear invading her personal space and nothing bad is going to happen. Though I doubt that, no one can distract me from calculating every inches of our distance.
But there might be a reason I think this is not going to continue anymore. It could be the voices are right. Because they’re whispering that whatever I’m doing now is a mistake. They keep screaming ‘STOP.’
I ignore them.
I keep on following behind Mei. With the reason, I only doing this to protect her. And, it’s not like I have any other thing to do than trying my best to help my student. Or in Carrie’s dictionary, I’m peeling Mei.
We walk. Footsteps different sound. We walk. Aware at every single what we found.
I like evening. It has the mix of light and dark. But this evening tastes a little different. Unaware, the androphobic girl Mei just dives in to get herself home and safe. And I am obligate to follow her to make sure she’s not dead anytime soon.
I can’t see anyone else other than Mei. Maybe she’s the only thing that has worth in my eyes now. She’s in her own world but still walking on ours. Her feet stumbles at anything. Her hand trembling as they turns everywhere. Now I look at it gain, we seems to be alone. No one was around. No on is around to see anything that could happen to her. I would. But my memory wouldn’t.
I can tell Mei is terrified. No– it wasn’t me this time. For some reason, we can feel someone is watching us despite there’s no one else is here. Or at least, no other human is to be see here. Maybe it’s just the car or the damp atmosphere. But imagination runs wild.
Time.
Time.
Time.
We’re at the neighbourhood now. Mei has calm down a little bit. She feels safer in this area. But I think otherwise. Now I notice someone is following us.
He’s drinking slurpee.
Wait, wasn’t he the same guy I saw this morning at this very same place. Maybe he’s just a someone who’s living here. But that’s not going to stop me watch at every single move he makes.
As long he don’t make a move, I have no reason to call for Mei and warn her. I’m not a bodyguard, I don’t these things okay? I just do what think is the best for… myself.
Screeech.
Sound of a tire.
Coming at somewhere where I can’t see. I can’t see yet. But it’s louder at every bit of moment.
And there’s where I realized.
We’re not safe at all.
STOP!
