New Life Online - Chapter 269 Boiling Rain
(The next chapters are unedited till Volume 8 while the edited version is on going starting Vol 1. You can wait for the edited version but you can read at your own risk >_<)
I was caught off guard at first but it seems like Two Teeth and Glace are calm about it.
*BOOOOOOM!*
An explosion hit the side of our ship and water burst all over the place but we’re safe… what’s with this ship?
“Don’t worry. I already made tweaks to our ship beforehand and water explosions won’t affect our ship from below. The explosions were caused by some sort of eruptions from below but it’s not powerful enough to do any damage to our ships. Again, thanks to me. Haha.” Two Teeth has the right to brag, he did a good job after all.
“You’re way too different from the first time we saw you. I’m really grateful that you are here with us.” I replied.
“Man, you don’t need to be so serious. Let’s just hope that we don’t get in trouble soon. No matter what happens, I’ll make you reach the Island.” He said and I can tell that he’s really sincere.
“Thank you. Now, anything note-worthy about this place?” I asked.
“For now, the temperature isn’t that hot but as we go deep inside the Boiling Waters, it’ll get hotter like what we experienced in the Calm Blizzard. Also, the explosions will be more frequent and more dangerous. Unlike Calm Blizzard’s icebergs, we are not aware where the explosions will occur so this will be harder but for now, there’s no need to worry.” Glace explained. If she says so then I guess I’ll worry later.
“Got it, thanks. Uhm… So what should I do because I’m seriously bored right now.” I replied showing my frustration.
“Just try not to tire yourself too much. With hot temperature, your body will sweat to cool off but if the temperature gets higher, your energy will start to deplete faster and in a short amount of time, your body will shut down by itself making you vulnerable and might also lead to death. Well just in the game of course. Some of us died from the fatigue but somehow most of us survived. This place is literally an endurance test for those who wants to cross this sea.” Well, that’s too much information, Glace.
Though she’s right. I’m kinda sweating a lot now but so far, I can still handle the heat. Some of us are already taking their armors off and just using their regular clothes. Thankfully there are no monsters around here because of the not so good environment. A lot of us are drinking too much water too and I hope that we don’t tire our Sprites or it will be a huge problem to us sooner or later. The supports are using magic barriers to protect the sprites from the heat which is a good idea.
And so… our boring quest continues.

I’m not sure what time is it because the whole day, we just sit around, drinking water like crazy and just watching the explosions nearby. I swear this is the last time I would go to this kind of places.
“It looks like we’re doing well. Our Sprites are still healthy, I can tell, and everyone is in a condition where they might survive till the end.” Glace reported.
“Are you sure? Because I’m starting to get dizzy you know.” I replied.
“Nah, you’ll be fine. I heard you’re tough and at the same time, used to dying too. Try to drink lots of water and rest.” She suggested and so I did because I’m way too tired.
I just nodded but I can’t sleep while everyone is like this. I really didn’t expect that we will experience this kind of events. I really hope no one dies here. Everyone went back to their ships because the crowded we are, the hotter it gets.

We’ve been going out of the game by turns and at least we get to take a break from the game but after we come back to the game it feels like it’s hell again because of the temperature. I can’t really tell how hot but the sea is literally like boiling water, as stated with the name of the place.
*Raindrops*
“Aw! What was that?!” Petula shouted. I’m not sure what happened but I think she got hurt by something.
Then suddenly, Aw! I felt it too! It’s… it’s raining! And it’s raining boiling rain!
Suddenly, shield of light covered our ship. I didn’t hear anyone cast a spell but it looks like it’s the guy’s doesn’t talk but writes. (Jason, Team Akko)
“Good job, please try to hold it a bit longer,” Petula ordered. Thankfully, the others were able to cast protective spells too. We only have that guy as support and this will be hard for us.
“EMPOWERMENT!” Oh, the book girl is boosting his abilities. It will help us last a bit longer. (Uricka)
“Scy, this is bad. We should get inside the ship as soon as possible.” Petula suggested. Well, if we do that, then it will be hotter inside. I don’t think we could even make anything to cool ourselves. Both our teams don’t have that many ice-user spellcasters and it would be bad for us because of the heat. What should we do…
“LIGHT BARRIER!” Akko created a larger and more powerful light shield. In just a couple of minutes, our team’s support wasn’t able to last long. Hopefully, we have Akko.
“It looks like Two Teeth forgot to bring an umbrella large enough to protect the ships from getting wet… well, wet and boiling hot,” Zia said.
“Well, I just figured that out. The ship is moving and not everyone can use any spell that could stop the rain. Also, creating structures like that using spells would also make the ship heavier and it might slow our ship down.” I replied. I can’t think of anything that could help us…
“Don’t worry, Scy. I can still keep it up.” Akko said. It’s not the time of showing off. We need you when something strong comes up.
“Just don’t overexert yourself. You’re one of our best guildmates and we need you.” I said… and for some reason, the barrier grew bigger… I just said to not overexert herself…
And so… It looks like the other ships were able to make their own defensive barriers but if this rain doesn’t stop soon, then we’re screwed.

It’s been hours and Akko’s barriers are starting to break. Lili’s, on the other hand, is still up and Glace’s group has three people combining their barriers to make it last longer. (Yuuki, Crimson, and Schneizel)
I’m so helpless right now. I can’t even help them. I have an idea but it’s really idiotic. Is it possible to destroy the rain cloud with my flames? I guess I just have to figure it out…
“Come on, FIRE UP!” I released a tremendous amount of mana to both of my hands. I don’t think wasting mana here matters that much. I somehow need to stop this and wish that it might clear the hot fog.
“Scy! Are you planning on using that kind of power here?!” I heard the voice of Glace, she’s whispering to me.
“Yeah, I might be able to stop the rain by using the shockwave of the explosion of my spell,” I replied. It sounds dumb but I have to at least try.
“That is seriously dumb! Let me tell you that it’s already night time and if you use that kind of spell, it might create a small light that can reach the Island. You will be alerting them or other strong creatures nearby.” She explained. Well, I know it’s dumb but you don’t have to slap me with it.
“Damn it… there’s a lot of things that I can’t do. I just like to destroy stuff and get on with it.” I said a bit irritated.
“Don’t be impatient. Everything has the right time. For now, let’s do our best not to die. If we get discovered now, there’s no way we can even reach the island.” I need to calm down. Glace is right. Sacrifices can’t be avoided.
*CRACKS*
“The barriers are breaking! Come on, inside the ship!” Petula ordered and so everyone entered.
The moment the barrier collapsed, I carried Akko inside. I checked on her and I can tell that she’s just peacefully sleeping and her temperature is quite burning. Zia and the other girls carried her to one of the rooms to change her clothes as she really needs to cool down. I hope she’s ok.

Kraytus and Osia who are the only ones who can use ice spells did their best to cool down the inside of the ship. Thankfully, it wasn’t as hot as I expected inside. Ceecee and Cherry used water spells inside while Kraytus and Osia froze them to give them a boost to create ice easier and so far, it’s working.
The good thing about this is Two Teeth created two controls for the ship from outside and inside making it easier to control it. Also, there’s a window in front of the ship so we can see where we are heading.
“Is everyone still ok?” I asked.
“Of course we are, though I would pay anyone who can take me home,” Petula replied… nice motivation.
After a while, everyone is getting tired and then I guess everyone fell asleep including me…

*CLANG CLANG*
Ugh… I woke up after I heard annoying metal sounds. Hmmmm?
“Wake up, babies. It’s a new day and yep, we’re finally out of the freaking Boiling Waters. Come on outside because you deserve a cold breeze and a wonderful breakfast.” It’s Glace and she’s holding a frying pan and a big spoon…
We went outside and oh God… how I missed this freshness. It’s another small fun time for all of us. We ate to our heart’s content and after that, every water user used spells to create rains that let us wash our sweats away.
“Everyone should be ready, we’re at the entrance of Monster’s Territory,” Glace announced.
“What’s a Monster’s Territory?” Leion asked.
“It’s a territory of monsters. If we encounter a group of monsters, another batch will come so… we have to defend the ships at all cost.” Glace explained… ok… that doesn’t sound so bad.
“Then, I guess let’s just wait for them to come to us. I really want to have fun!” I shouted and everyone showed their excitement by shouting with me.
