New World New Life - Chapter 163
“Now, what have we learnt so far about summoning rituals?” her voice rang loud and clear throughout the circular-shaped hall.
A couple of students shot up their arms, eager to answer. She looks through all of the students before pointing at one of them to answer the question.
“You, Min-ka.”
The student eagerly answered in a stutter, “We learnt the components needed to to prepare for the ritual!”
Mrs Peterson smiled and nodded, “Good work! What else?”
Another student was selected to answer.
“Depending on the type of summoning, different items will need to be assembled.”
“Very good! Oh,” Mrs Peterson noticed Loraine and her guests from the side view, “Looks like our guests are here!”
Mrs Peterson went over to Loraine who introduced Vyrena and Lycster to her. They all shook hands with each other as she introduced herself as Janna Peterson. Vyrena took some time to explain to Janna her need for a Familiar.
After understanding her problem, she asked for the chance to understand Vyrena powers a little better. She agreed to Janna’s request and asked what she needed to do.
“I just need you to place your hands on mine,” Janna said as she placed her palms open before Vyrena.
Vy nodded as she placed her hands in Janna’s palm. Whispering a spell beneath her breath, the marble flooring they stood on lit up. It formed a spell circle around them that glowed. The light enveloped both of them.
“Minx, I need your assistance,” Janna said out loud.
From the shadow she had cast behind her, a small fae appeared out of thin air. It flew up to Janna’s hands and placed its hands on her. The fae was about the same size as Dotty. He had light red skin, with matching glowing eyes.
Within a matter of seconds, the spell was complete, and Janna released Vy’s hands. The students eagerly watched on. Accessing the information she had received, the fae named Minx circled Vy with curiosity.
-You aren’t from around here, aren’t’ you? – a voice rang in Vy’s mind.
She was surprised to hear a foreign voice in her mind.
-How did you know? – Vy asked.
Minx flew up to Vy and winked at her before it whispered, “It’s a secret.”
Minx flew back to Janna’s side and sat on her shoulder just as she opened her eyes.
“You’re an otherworlder, Miss Blackfire?” Janna asked.
Lycster was impressed! It only took a spell to tell that Vy was an otherworlder?
Janna’s eyes lit up. A huge smile appeared on her face as she continued to sort out her thoughts. This was a marvellous opportunity that was rare and few! To meet an otherworlder was one thing. But to help one to summon a familiar?
This was her luckiest day!
“Would you be alright for the students here to learn from your summoning? I promise you they will not interfere! It would be a great learning experience for them to see how it is done.” Janna exclaimed excitedly.
Vyrena did not see any issue with it, so she readily agreed.
Janna spoke to Minx and had him prepare all the necessary items for the summoning. Janna brought everyone’s attention to the three large mirrors behind the raised marble platform. Each mirror floated in mid-air. Each of them was about 10 metres in height with different frames.
The one on the left had a frame made of clouds.
The one the middle had a frame made of wood.
The last one on the right had a frame made of corals and seashells.
“Each of these mirrors represents the Sky, Earth and Sea. All of which are key components that make up our world.” Janna explained.
Minx soon returned with two items; a sharpened iron dagger, and a large crystal about the size of a grapefruit. Janna waved her hand over the centre of the marble platform and the ground began to shift.
The centre of the platform raised up to form a table and a white marble bowl. Minx placed the crystal into the bowl and handed Vy the knife. Janna assured Vy that she would take care of the rest of the summoning ritual, but the most important part could only be done by her.
There were two things that Vy needed to do.
“Firstly, we will need an item that is of great importance and sentiment to you and I will need you to place it in the bowl.”
As soon as Janna said that, she could see the worry written all over on Vy’s face.
“Do not worry, it will not be destroyed or disappear. It is just needed for the summoning.” Janna reassured her.
Vy touched the pendant that hung around her neck. She might not know its importance to her in her previous life, it had been with her since she received it from Dotty. While the energy dagger had been a lot more useful, the pendant seemed to resonate with her more.
Each time she looked at its design, she could feel a certain emotion. What was it that she felt? Her heart ached yet it fluttered. Vy took off the necklace and placed it into the bowl.
Janna handed Vy the dagger as she continued, “Good. All that’s left to do is for you to cut the palm of your hand and allow your blood to drip into the bowl.”
What was a little blood when she had gone through so much worse?
Vy held the dagger in her left hand and on her right open palm, she cut a slit diagonally cross. She did not have to press very hard as the dagger was sharp. As blood began to seep out of the wound, Vy clenched her hand into a fist and allowed the blood to drip into the bowl.
Janna used her wand to line the ground around the marble platform. Minx circled the path the wand drew as symbols formed. When Janna made one full circle, she and Minx also stepped away. The spell circle lit up and shone it’s light upwards, enveloping Vy.
Loraine quickly ushered Lycster to the side who watched on in wonder. The three large mirrors face rippled before turning into a spiral of energy. Each mirror face shot a beam of coloured light onto the Vy and the spell circle.
