Nightmare Fantasy Online - Chapter 26
Login! Today’s the event day!!
Ah, calm down, me. Such behavior is not fitting for a lady like me.
Anyway, today’s the day the event starts. I logged in a little early, so I’ll use the time to go over my preparations one last time before the chime rings.
The event, Nightmare Carnival, is a big cluster of mini-events. Participating in these will award “Carnival Points” that you can trade for various prices. Of course, winning the mini-events will give you more points than losing, but the developers may want everyone to have fun in this first event. The Skill-Up Potion is given after the Carnival’s finished.
And my goal to farm CP1Carnival Points in the Carnival is…the Item Exchange.
What? Did you think that I would enter the battle tournaments? Wa-hahaha! You’re such a joker. I mean, look at my stats:
Skill List:
Title List:
This is the result after 10 days or so with stealth training. I killed a few frogs/toads, but I was mostly undercover. It helped a lot in improving Scout, even if I’m a few levels too short of upgrading the class. Not sure how to either!
But yeah, I’m no champion. Sure, I could improve my stats by switching to the [Dungeon Ruler] title, but then people would start a Dungeon Gold Rush and crush the places before I can reach them.
Anyway, that’s not my point. I’ve been using the slowly-regenerating DP to build up the Dungeon not only to defeat invaders but also to provide me with a source of income.
Facility List:
Hehehe. I managed to upgrade the Dungeon’s “Stealth” stat to rank D~. It does take 50 FP to keep it there, and I can’t turn it off. I did get that Hidden Traphole trap by having this improved stat, even if I unlocked no new monsters…
Regarding my talk about “profit”, I’m referring to the “Royal Garden (Small)”. I can harvest a total of 20 flower-type items a day from each of them, and I can even push the responsibility for them to the Dungeon monsters! Currently, I have 200 “Dark Lilies”, a type of magical lily that’s related to the Darkness element. Their rarity is “Ra”, meaning that they’re rare.
They should fetch somewhat of a price. I hope. The bulletin board didn’t know anything about them, so they’re at least not so common that they don’t have any value. I’m also gonna sell stuff that I obtained by trading DP for them. Normally, this stuff is what you put inside Treasure Chest facilities, but I’ll be doing sales with them~.
Speaking of “Treasure Chests”, they’re facilities that give the Dungeon more FP. But all those facilities are stuff that would help the invaders, not the Dungeon itself. Like the Rest Area, which prevents monsters from entering, and Spring of Recovery (Small) that recovers the invaders’ HP.
Other than that, I’ve placed Royal Pantries that provides free food to the Dungeon monsters (I almost fainted from the shock when I saw the starving monsters when I returned the first day of my Scout training week) and the Café, which probits violence and lets everyone take a drink and some snack. Invaders have to pay for the grub, but the monsters and I don’t need to pay. The hot chocolate there is just to die for~.
Finally, I guess there’s the Alarm? It warns me about invaders coming to any of the floors. Pretty handy, even if it’s never been used until now. My Darkland Fort is starving for EXP…, and I want to increase the FP- and DP limits of this place. How else am I supposed to obtain the “Gender-Deciding Monster Spawn” special effect facility!? I want my harem Dungeon of female demons!!
*Ring*
And that’s the signal! The Carnival’s started!
I quickly registered the items I want to take with me for the Item Exchange and saw them disappear with a cyber-like light-effect. I mean, it’s not like people can carry so much this early in the game.
After making sure that all the stuff had been registered, I started to dress up. Including the Arachnid Light Armor, the Iron Dagger, the Magic Dagger of [Grasp Vine], the Magic Bracelet of [Fireball], and the Boulder-Carrying Bracelet, I put on my newly acquired “Concealment Cloak” from exchanging my DP, plus a “Mask of Weak Identity”.
The former is a black cloak item that improves concealment skills, while the latter is a black mask that covers my whole face. It’s supposed to reduce the success rate of [Identification] when others try to get my stats. They both became available thanks to increasing the Stealth-stat to [D].
Now that everything’s checked and ready, it’s time to start this party! I mean, carnival!
—
After the transfer finished, I found myself in front of a huge crowd. I fled in silent panic.
Huh? Why did I flee? Because that many people scare me! Digital or not, I’ve been without contact with people ever since I started the game! The NPC in the spider village isn’t counting.
So yeah, I fled to the top of one of the buildings while keeping myself hidden with [Lurk]. From up here, I got a good view of the event field. What should I say, it’s a floating island? Made of rocks, there are five different islands.
The one we’re on now is connected to the other four, meaning you have to travel through this “hub island” if you want to travel between the four outer islands.
Multiple posters with “Nightmare Carnival” on them are posted on the walls. It explains the concept of the festival while also showing a map of the event area. Nothing seems different from what the website told me. The event will last three days, over the weekend, and on the…, oh?
On the last day, that “special survival” event will start. It seems that the content of the survival event will differ depending on the result of the other mini-events done on the first two days.
This emblem or whatever’s new though. What’s it supposed to be? Two crossed scythes and a…, dragon’s head? Its eyes are pretty big for a dragon, and its horns are too thin…
Whatever~. The Item Exchange is waiting for me~.
I took some strange side-paths to evade most of the crowd. Game or not, I hate that many people in one place. After safely reaching the bridge to the “Exchange Island”, as the posters call it, I, unfortunately, flopped on the finishing line.
“Hey, pretty. Wanna hang out with us-” – Frivolous-looking player
I pushed the button for the GM Call with a speed that must have surpassed what my current SPD should be able to. And right away, several black-suited characters with heads made of black fog in the shape of animal heads appeared around us.
“How do you do today, player Garami?” asked one of the black-suited creatures with the head of a goat…, Support AI: D1?
“Sleazy guys who try to hit on me,” I replied while pointing at the trio of sleazy-looking guys who’d spoken to me just now while having their gaze glued to my body underneath the coat.
“Now that is something we cannot have. And with repeating offenders, nonetheless.” – D1?
“H-hey! Don’t we get a say-” – Sleazy player
“None. Men, take them away.” – D1?
The three players were grabbed by the other black suits and pulled into a dark portal that had appeared along with the black suits. The D1-looking black suit made a quick bow to me before following his colleagues. And then everything went back to normal~…
“Did you see that?”
“Calling on the GM right away, scary…”
“What’s up with that “chest armor”? Share some of it…!”
“The Devil Guards acted all courtly with her!”
“Those horns and that just now…, a demon queen?”
“Boobies…”
“What’s her identity?”
“…[Identification] failed?”
“Ah…, I want to be stepped by her…”
Okay, I lied. It’s 1000 times worse than a few dudes hitting on me! And some of them may be more harmful to me than the horny sloths!
Overjoyed that my mask worked better than I’d expected, as it’s hiding my player name and my stiff face, I tried to walk as calmly as possible away from the place. As much as my stiff legs can accomplish!
Crap, this is bad. Should I wait for the exchange until tomorrow? Rumors are bound to spread like wildfire. I know. I have personal experience regarding that. Meaning there’s no way I can exchange my items. Not with a ton of people staring at me! A business exchange is possible, but having a peanut gallery is too much!
I started to look through the bulletin boards using mental commands while power-walking away from the scene of the crime. There has to be someplace…, I FOUND IT! And on the demon thread!!
111: Al Azif
Fellow demons who participate in the exchange of lousy items rather than souls. In this joyous event, I have achieved the right to use one of the special houses placed in the event field. If you wish to trade the harvest of your demonic tales, please come to me. With my forbidden knowledge of talented crafter-players and merchant-players, I am sure to discover a foolish mortal that will sign a blood contract with thee.

The chuuni is one gear higher than normal, but I’ll take it! To the prof’s house!
