Nightmare Fantasy Online - Chapter 32
Those damn management people…
While eating my breakfast the day after the event, a heavy blow hit me from the NFO’s official web page: all the names and pictures of the avatars of the top 10 in the raid battle yesterday are revealed to the public! Now people will understand I’m the one who made all the ruckus in the event!
On a different note, it seems that there are extremely few players that can successfully inflict status ailments onto monsters with higher stats than themselves, and there are even fewer people who can stack ridiculous amounts of those ailments onto the same monster in a stable manner.
It seems that my Evil Eye is more powerful than I gave them credit for. It helped that I was in a safe location as well and that the mantis was preoccupied with chasing the elf to switch its aggro towards me.
*Sigh*, whatever. It was bound to be revealed sooner or later. And it’s not like people know that the Darkland Fort is my Dungeon. Nobody has ever visited after it became my turf.
Still, I’d hoped to keep my anonymity a little longer. Thank you very much, Weakness-weak mantis queen…

Login…, or not?
Instead of my Player Room, it seems like the place where I created my character. That fancy throne room-place with a grid-like floor like on a chessboard.
When I tried to look for someone to explain this situation, I found a leaflet on the ground. This is…, ah, these are the rewards for the event. Do we need to choose them from here? Weird.
……okay, now I get it. This is probably something that’s only happened to me this time around. Because the leaflet is showing rewards that are related to the Dungeon. Specifically, stuff like adding new Elements or monster lines to it.
Yeah, this isn’t something that should be done in public spaces. There’s even a button that tells me I can wait with choosing my rewards for now, as long as I do it within a week. Hmm…
Let’s do as I planned and take the 30 Lesser Event Skill-Up Potions first. That’s 3.000 of the…, I had 15.000 CP available? Oh, right. The bonus from the raid battle. That leaves me with 12.000 CP left.
The next thing I want can be something for the Dungeon…, wow. All the entries here are easily 5 times more expensive than the Advanced Event Skill-Up Potion. And it cost 1.000 CP.
After pondering over it a little, I decided to obtain another element to the Dungeon. Even if I did get another set of monsters to choose from, I won’t have an element to assign them to. Plus, the only other options are [Mantis] and [Frog].
WHYYYY!? Why can I only choose between those two!? The mantis is sorta understandable when you remember that this is a prize from that event, but frogs…, don’t tell me it’s because the neighborhood is a frog wonderland!? COME OOOOOON!!
Grr…, next event, I’ll unquestionably participate in it. Especially if it has some cool monsters in it.
Back to the present, the elements I can get are:
They’re even generous to tell me what element slots these new guys would occupie~. Though, I don’t get why these are among my options.
Was I right in saying that there’s a frog wonderland nearby? Is there some huge swamp near my fort!?
Geez, that takes the wind outta my sails. And because of that, the elements of Swamp and Mud are removed from my wishlist. Shadow can go as well. It seems to overlap with Darkness.
Why’s Wood here? It means plants…, ah. Those pitiful trees outside the Fort. Maybe they’re connected. As for Mist…, is it related to Swamp? A foggy swamp filled with frogs…, can’t say I would like to go there.
Finally, it’s this “Crystal” element. Why’s this one here? Hmm……
Maybe it is possible to mine crystals in this region? Maybe the same type of crystals that I bought from the stall at the event?
Speaking of which, would it be possible to add facilities to the Fort that lets me farm-, I mean, mine those crystals?
Okay, I’m convinced. Let’s go with Crystal. Even if it doesn’t give me those mana-crystal thingies, it’s still a cool element to add to the Dungeon.
That leaves me with 4.000 CP left…, let’s use them on Advanced Event Skill-Up Potions. I’m happy with my current equipment, and this stuff is more for those who haven’t had an incredible start like mine.
After pressing the “accept” button, a magic circle appeared underneath me and transported me to my Player Room. There, I found a huge cardboard box filled with potion bottles…, you couldn’t use a more fantastical wrapping? Geez…

Many potions later:
M-my stomach…, too many…, potions…
I’d finished downing down the potions now, but the huge number made my brains play tricks on me. I felt like my stomach had been bloated despite food- and drink items not having such a function. And I needed a toilet break in between the potions.
But I cleared them all! And the result…, is kinda…, vague.
Skill List:
Title List:
Why did the Lesser Potions have to hit all the Ability Skills to their highest… Better be glad the free potion I got as the participation prize didn’t hit any of those. That it increased the level of [Lesser Darkness Talent] is good, but still…
Oh, and these are the new titles:
Proof of having fought against the strongest of the strongest and survived.
Proof of having witnessed a nightmarish carnival that brings both pleasure and trauma to those who are winners in life and games.
Pretty meh, but they’re titles that commemorate the event and the first raid. The former will probably be upgraded if I clear more raids, but I’m more likely to keep clear of that stuff.
Then, what to do now? I could add demons to the Crystal element, but I think I want to improve the overall abilities of the Dungeon before that. See if I get some cooler demons out of it.
Instead, I should see if there are any new facilities. Not that I have enough space (Facility Points) to place them.
As I looked at the list, I discovered a new type of support facility. A “Recovery Crystal”. Place it on the wall, and it can recover an invader’s HP. The crystal contains a single “recovery charge”, and it needs 1 hour to recharge. It cost 20 DP to place and gives me 10 more FP to use on other facilities.
Plus, I can place up to 3 of them on each floor, which equals getting 30 more FP for each! The effect isn’t that big of a loss for me, as each crystal only recovers a single invader’s HP, so these are great!
I wasted no time placing as many crystals as I could all over the Dungeon. Due to their price, and my lack of DP, I could only place 6 of them for now. Let’s add the last three when the DP’s charged up.
However, even with all the crystals, I’m still 10 points short of 100 FP, which is what I need to add a new floor to the Fort…, guess I’ll have to remove one of the gardens.
Then I need to wait for more DP. And I want to continue decorating the Fort after that again. The carnival days surely made me enjoy spending the stored-up DP on various decorations since I lacked the means of using more FP back then.
*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!*
What’s that? …oh, the alarm… We have an intruder!?
Hurriedly, I activated the Dungeon Terminal to see who the bastards were. On the 1st floor, surrounded by a group of Gloom Boogeys was…, what, just a toad? What a letdown.
I watched as the Boogeys attacked the dark-colored amphibian. The toad jumped around as it dodged the fluffy ogres’ attacks…, isn’t this toad too good at this dodging thing? It’s as if it has eyes on its back.
Nevertheless, that feeble attempt of survival didn’t last long. One of the Boogeys got in the way of the toad and prepared to squash it. The toad released its stupidly-long tongue like a whip at the Boogey, but she dodged it with no harm done. Not that any harm would be done if that attack hit her or anything.
Three seconds later, and the carpet was filled with toad gunk. For once, I’m glad for the black dust disintegration phenomenon…AAAAHHH!!
That stupid toad! It broke the cool suite of armor (decoration only) that I used to spice up the entrance!! He’ll PAY!! But he’s already dead!! Dammit!!
If that’s the case, I know what to do from now on. TOAD HUNT!! I’m fine with frogs too! Anyone, get me in contact with a french restaurant! I’ll give them a lifetime supply of frog legs!!
