Nightmare Fantasy Online - Chapter 60
The “Treasury”.
One of the most sought-after facilities I’ve had on my wishing list for a long while now. And darn empty.
The large room behind the beautifully ornamented doors, which were so big that even a giant could enter, I believe, had tons of hills and rows on the walls where one could place items on display, and even large vaults where money and other items could be stored. Some of them are the types where I can store items that will automatically distribute items to the Treasure Chests in the Fort after the Chests are emptied by someone.
But despite all this storage ability, there’s nothing to store in this Treasury. Figures, considering that I only bought the room and not any content. Well, except for this huge, closet-shaped chest in the middle of the room.
With anticipation, I opened the “chest” and found a set of clothing. The clothing for the Upper Body slot was a sleeveless shirt that highlighted the bust line, while for the Lower Body was a pair of short pants. Like, extremely so. Whoever designed this had fanservice as their first, second, and third priority. Both articles of clothing had black as their main color with silver lines as decorations.
There was also a purple jacket with shoulder guards made out of black metal. The sleeves were wide, probably to allow one to hide stuff in there. A black cloak is attached to the shoulder plates, and a hood was attached to it. Dark golden crosses were embedded into the shoulder guards.
A pair of tight-high boots were also included. They were made outta some black metal, probably the same material as the shoulder guards, and had quite a wicked appearance. Nobody would be happy about being stepped on by these. Again like the shoulder guards, similar-looking dark-golden crosses were embedded into the boots. They also came with jet-black stockings.
The gloves looked closer to claws. They were made mostly outta black leather, but the fingertips have metallic protectors that give them a beastly appearance. The gloves also had silver lines going down the fingers and a dark-golden star was embedded in the middle of the back of the glove.
Then onto the stuff that looks like they would use accessory slots: a dark leather belt with an item pouch on it, a pair of earrings with gems that looks like the certain black rock that could call on a certain “crawling chaos”, and a necklace that’s made of a darker metal with dark-purple gems. There’s also a ring made in the same design and materials as the necklace, and a similar armband.
And finally (I’ve saved the best for last) is a pair of daggers. One looks like it’s made of some white material, whiter than even ivory. But the touch of it is undoubtedly that of metal. There is no warmth in it at all, as opposed to the bone accessories I’ve taken a look at when window shopping.
The blade is straight like a Japanese sword, and the hilt is painted dark grey. It looks sorta boring outside the monochronic coloring, but the weapon is giving off some eerie aura. It’s not a beginner’s weapon, at least.
The other dagger isn’t any better. Its blade is curved like a claw and it’s dark purple for some reason. The hilt is colored a darker purple than the blade. And I could almost swear that it was covered in some liquid, despite being dry as a desert. Like the first dagger, it’s giving off a bad aura. One that makes me think of poisons and diseases.
After having appraised the items through my senses, I ran a round of using [Identification] on them. It’s still not on a level where I can get all the data, but it’s good for now.
A magical armor that was created by the fallen queen in her moments of madness. This item is the proof of the last traces of herself having gone lost to the wicked instincts that were forced onto her.
A piece of upper garment and a jacket that is a set of items. Both articles are created from a mysterious, metallic material, but they can still be confused with clothing.
It recovers the stamina and magical powers of the user. Damage from attacks of evil-aligned elements is reduced.

A pair of gloves that are made of mysterious, metallic materials. One is a type of material that could be confused with cloth, while the other material used has its origin in the bones of dead, vicious monsters.
They make the user’s finger movements more nimble, make it more difficult for the user to drop an item they are holding, and can be used for certain attacks.

When equipped, the user’s self-recovery effects are drastically improved.
…this stuff made by “that” queen? The former boss of the Fort? Wow…
Even without a more detailed Identification, I can already tell that this item is way above the Saltwater set that Jill has. Like, above its head, shoulders, and even its ego! Even if this one’s ego, if I’m forced to guess from its name, looks broken. Ah, maybe that’s why the items’ specks look so broken!
Jokes aside, I just went from a no-named Dungeon owner to a goddamn last boss! Did I graduate from being a player to becoming the demon king? It’s so much that I’m delaying the Identification of the weapons until tomorrow. This is too much to digest in one sitting…
While in a small daze, I returned to the Player Room and found Bloom already sitting there while reading a big book. It looks like something a magician would have, a typical grimoire-looking book.
“…wow! Master, that’s an impressive getup! Where did you buy it?” – Bloom
Bloom asked me with stars in her eyes when she laid eyes on the equipment from the Treasury. I figured it wouldn’t be bad to test them out, so I put them on before leaving the Treasury.
“Ruler priviligies.” – Garami
“You don’t say. …hmm, think I’ve heard something like that before…” – Bloom
Really? She’s been around a ruler other than me?
“Anyway, I’m gonna be going now. If you need some food, you’re free to go to town and buy it. Just wear this,” I told her as I threw a certain something.
“Okay~. But what’s this?” – Bloom
“An earring that conceals your appearance. Some people may have a bone to pick with you in town.” – Garami
“Ah…a-hahaha…” – Bloom
After hitting the witch/slave/servant with the cruel reality so she wouldn’t do something stupid in a thoughtless moment, I logged out and returned to reality.
Damn, my body feels damn stiff…, or not? Weird. And here I thought that the long play session would make me into a wreck. Guess I’m in better shape than I thought…or simply so bad that all this didn’t make any difference…*sniff, sniff*…? Why am I smelling something burned?
I hurried into the kitchen, but of course, nothing was burning there. I’m not that big of an idiot. Then what is…
Crap! The hardware!
—
Turns out I’ve been playing around too much. The hardware got short-circuited.
There are lots of reasons why this happened. Me playing with it in too long stretches is just one of them…, okay, there are no other reasons. Except that the VR machine is from its first generation, all this mess is solely on me.
I did send a complaint to the manufacturer, but the replacement will take more than a day to be delivered. Whether that’s too long or way short isn’t something I can decide, but tomorrow will be without any gaming.
I can still give orders to the Dungeon, Bloom, and the followers-duo through my portable terminal, plus spend DP on the Fort, but even then, tomorrow’s gonna be boring…
I hope the new machine is of better quality…
