Nightmare Fantasy Online - Chapter 87
Log in! Wow, it feels like ages have gone by since the last time…
Despite having evolved into a D-rank, I didn’t meet another goddess or that AI again. That fits me well, but it’s my 3rd evolution now. Shouldn’t I get some sorta congratulation?
Then I noticed that I’d gotten an in-game mail. I opened it and found a gift from the game system. Nice~. I’ll be getting an…EXTRA MEDAL!? Oh, it’s a non-tradeable one. Tch. And according to this…it cannot be used along with 9 others to earn a free Extra Skill. TCH! But it can be used to access a “Trial Ground”…?
That’s weird. I knew about the first option, but what is this place of trial about? Seems like Bones didn’t know everything about these trinkets.
Well, I can figure that out later. Right now, I have to choose between a Demon medal, Darkness medal, Arachnid…
Let’s just make it easy for myself and choose the Demon medal. Simple is best.
Okay, time to evaluate my new body. The biggest difference is…I’m a spider. Yay. One that’s pale white, almost like a corpse, bigger than my bed, and has dark-purple marks all over it, especially at the tip of its legs. The four frontmost legs are also shaped like scythes. Yikes.
Having eight eyes and limbs is a little strange, but I can handle it. It’s not that different from when I was a Grey Demon-
*Trip*
*CRASH!!*
Ouch…guess I need some training after all.
And now, on to what the System Message has to say.
SYSTEM MESSAGE:
Evolution is complete.
Due to your evolution, the following abilities are granted:
Your natural status values have increased.
All classes below Advance-tier have gained bonus levels.
Natural Aether Point gain has increased from 0.6 to 0.8.
You have obtained the following skills: [Dark Spider’s Metamorphosis]; [Evil Eye Carvings]; [Darkness Briars].
Acquired trait: [Arachnid].
Due to the evolution and shifting faith from ” — (Neutral)” to “*** (Ruin)”, the Fragmented Ego equipment series has been upgraded and optimized.
Class: [Demonic Rogue] has reached Lv.50. Class Evolution is now possible.
For reaching Lv.50 with class: [Demonic Rogue], you have obtained 3.0 Aether Points.
Class: [Arachnid Assailant] has reached Lv.50. Class Evolution is now possible.
For reaching Lv.50 with class: [Arachnid Assailant], you have obtained 3.0 Aether Points.
Holy! This easily exceeds what I expected. Free class levels? Then I should have obtained my 4th Sub Class before evolving!! …meh. It’s prolly a specific number of levels that are evenly distributed to the different classes. Having more classes wouldn’t equal a bigger bonus. Probably!
WOW!! I’ve obtained almost all the points I spent on evolving! If I’m right, my classes have increased by…around 40 levels in total. I think so, at least.
As for my stats…hmm. No big changes on STR…but all the other looks awesome! For some reason, my LUC and MP are in leagues of their own. And the new trait the System Message told about is…geh!?
Arachnid:
As if I don’t have enough weaknesses due to my other traits! They’re no different than before, so I’m skipping them. But this “Arachnid” is more pain than any possible gain! Especially since we’re planning on going inside a volcano!
Alright, calm down. I still need to check the three new skills. Please let them be something awesome…
Skill List:
One of them seems to be an enhancement skill to whip-like objects. Normal ropes seem to also work, so maybe I could use threads for it? The second one is something to extend the methods of using Evil Eyes. I’ll test it when I meet the others.
But this skill here totally catches my attention.
THIS! This is what I was looking for! The description of the species specifically mentioned this kind of ability, which I’m seriously in need of now! I don’t wanna trip over my spider legs again!
Without further ado, I activated this new skill. For a slight second, it felt like my body didn’t exist as it turned into some black smoke before reappearing as a human…body. Huh? What’s going on? I can’t see anything!!
…oh, I’m wearing a blindfold. That was embarrassing. Wait, why am I wearing this thing?
I took off the blindfold and looked into the mirror I’d placed in my Player Room for occasions like this. …what is this? A priestess outfit?
It’s a sleeveless, shoulder-baring dress that wouldn’t feel wrong in an ancient temple, worn by the head priestess or someone of a similar status. It is made out of black cloth, with golden edges, and a few purple crystals. Not sure if they’re supposed to be amethysts or some fantasy gems, but I like ’em.
Some parts of the golden embroidery seem to use spiders and spider webs as a motif, but it retains the typical style of what one would see in clergymen’s outfits.
The dress is tight on the top, which leaves less to one’s imagination than I’d appreciated. The lower half of the dress-like attire reaches my ankles, with an apron-type at the front which is separated to show my legs. There’s also a mini-skirt included, which results in showing my thighs. Maybe so that I can keep a knife sheathed there?
There’s also a pair of detached sleeves from the upper arms. The kind you’d only see in anime. They’re of the same color and design as the sleeveless dress, and the cuffs are quite wide. For some reason, the wide cuffs don’t feel constraining, so I think they’ll be in the way of swinging my scythe or my knives.
I got ankle-high black boots that are decorated with gold, just like the dress. Plus a pair of knee-high, grey socks, which creates an “absolute territory” (or whatever it was called) with the mini-skirt. Isn’t this clergy outfit a little too tempting!?
As for accessories, the belt seems to be an official part of the outfit now, while the earring and necklace have been removed.
In return, I’ve obtained golden anklets that are worn on the back of the shoes instead of on my ankles. The bangles are still here, now hidden underneath the large sleeves. They are made of gold, just like the anklets. The ring is still here too, but now it’s turned into something fancy made outta gold and black metal intervened with each other, and a small amethyst added to it.
Finally, the cloak has been redesigned to something more fitting for a priestess. It covers my bare shoulders and reaches the ground, with a fancy embroidery in gold on the back. It has a hood that has a pattern that, when worn on one’s head, looks like the face of a spider, weaved with golden threads.
The black blindfold from before also has some golden decorations on it. Not sure how it stays on. It doesn’t reach the back of my head, only it disappears in the middle. Weird.
So, to conclude my report…THIS IS DAMN COOL!! Thank you, oh Goddess of ruin who tuned up my gear!! ……hold on. There’s something in the item description… AW, COME ON!!!
The items act as a set! I need the damn blindfold equipped if I want the rest of the cool gadgets to work! And the blindfold’s a piece of cursed equipment! I can’t take it off after I first “activate” the whole thing from my system menu!! I can swap the other pieces of equipment, but the blindfold is there to stay no matter what after I push “yes”!!
Damn it! Glad that they bothered to write this warning down on the equipment page.
But what now? A blindfold is the worst thing I could be stuck with. My best skills and general build center around Evil EYES. Sealing them is the worst! Ah, but the outfit’s so cool…plus I bet it’s something the Goddess of ruin wants me to do. …I should consult with the others. Maybe they have a plan.
Let’s shove away the dark clouds regarding my equipment for later. I still need to see how this human form works.
Hmm…not that different from before. The horns and the tail are the same, and that goes for my albino hair and skin. My eyes are a little more “amethyst” in color now, and with the same cross-shaped pupils. Ah, the “inner” part of my hair seems to be black instead of white. It’s thin enough for the white parts to be seen if you look at me from behind. Weird…
Other than that, I’d say I’ve gotten a small growth spurt. Did the evolution give me bonus points for sexiness? Well, when you think of spiders, then “Black Widows” are likely to appear in your mind.
The newest features are that my hands and feet have turned black. Like, tar-black. It’s as if I’m wearing gloves and socks, but it’s my skin. There’s also an eye-like purple mark between my collarbones. But other than that, not much of a change. Or not! Gotta remember, my “real” form now is that of a giant spider…
Okay, enough of wasting my time in front of the mirror.
“Bloom!” I shouted as I left the bedroom part of my Player Room. In the “main hall” I found Bloom lazying around on the couch while reading something that looks like a manga. Probably taken from the book row I’ve added to the Player Room recently.
“Y-yes! …Master!?” – Bloom
“Forget the cliche reaction and get moving. We’re meeting the others.” – Garami
“A-as you wish!” – Bloom
Bloom started to dress in the witch-looking gear I’d prepared for her. Hmm? Why not have her dressed as a maid? Hahaha.
We need Bloom if we want to attack the Blastfield volcano. Specifically, her abilities as a Crime Caster. Let’s hope I can fight well enough even with my gear “not activated”…
