No Where To Run: Trapped With My Archenemy - Chapter 105
UNEDITED: PLEASE WAIT FOR SOMETIME
“Shu Li Li and Song Jia? Those dead girls…you think he did something to them?”
“He killed…them?”
“Nope…I’m just asking who is likely to get into Hu Geng Xin’s nerves.”
“Officer, please be honest with us….because there is no way these three get to associate with each other.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Yes. There were no instances in my memory where I saw these three together.”
“I wanted to ask you earlier, why are you searching about Hu Geng Xin in the first place? Do you think that he did it?”
“No. We are planning to reopen Song Jia’s missing case, too.”
“Song Jia? What about her? Didn’t she elope with some delivery guy?”
“Technically speaking, Song Jia is still missing and apparently two witnesses who that case was found killed or gone missing.”
“Missing? Who went missing?”
“Hu Geng Xin has gone missing for two years.”
“What?”
“He said that he is going to imperial and
Zhu Yuhai couldn’t help but stare at the arrogant young man in incredulity. Even though he wasn’t one of the richest villagers, Zhu Yuhai had a quite bit of reputation among the people. No one ever tried to fool around him, even his own children. But this officer just got into his nerves so quickly.
Zhu Yuhai was about to retort when he heard the doorbell and using it as an excuse, he left the room, holding in his anger.
“Xiao Bing, do you know how these ghost castles get created in the first place?”
Bing Wen, who still couldn’t digest the joke, stared dumbfoundedly at his seniors as if they understood it or not.
“Anyone?”
No one had an answer for his question, or more precisely, nobody wanted to reply.
They would rather remain silent than share their opinion after Han Ze Min made a huge accusation that Wan Yi Jun live in a haunted house even as a joke.
“It has a pattern. One unnatural death and some stupid sees a shadow, then a bunch of rumours created by near and dear and Voila, new ghost house in the scene. Once the news goes out in the public, the land cost drops and people starts to leave. Finally the major real estate corporations steps in and buys the entire place in a low cost.” Han Ze Min dramatically declared and broke into a bitter laugh, as if he was familiar with the entire idea. But still no one joined the discussion as if they were hesitating to speak.
“He is right. Even yesterday Zhu Yuhai was trying very hard to convince me that it was a haunted building and to be honest, I believed him, too.” Wan Yi Jun admitted in a slightly embarrassed tone,
When the eagle team listened to their captain’s confession, they finally understood the reason for last night’s commotion.
Wan Yi Jun was actually worried that Han Ze Min would have gone to the haunted house and got himself into some trouble.
“That castle got something to do with the case and this freaking village. I’m damn sure about it.” Han Ze Min’s grumbled as he tried to recall everything he had heard about Gui Xiang and looked for a hint to solve the mystery.
“Officers, Elder Mao is here to meet you,” Zhu Yuhai who went to answer the door with a darkened face, returned with a flashy grin and an Oldman who seemed to be in his mid seventies.
“Mao Bai, the village elder,”
The eagle team stood up from their seats and greeted the elderly man with no delay. However, instead of returning their greetings, elder Mao straight away jumped into a question as if he got much more important job than knowing their names.
“Zhu Yuhai said that you want to search the old castle. Why are interfering with dead people, officers? You may not be able to leave this village alive after getting associated with that castle.” Mao Bai didn’t even think twice to speak to a bunch of police officers in a scolding tone. “So, do what you came here for and go back to your city… ALIVE…”
As soon as Elder Mao’s warning resonated in the room, it felt like a dark cloud just shrouded over the entire eagle team, hinting that something bad is going to happen.
“I don’t know whether you are trying to scare us by quoting death, but I’m sorry to disappoint you, elder Mao, I’m totally cool with dying early.” Obviously, Han Ze Min who never cares about the gravity of situations, stepped in with a his usual mockery.
“It’s him.” Zhu Yuhai whispered in Mao Bai’s ears as if he had already mentioned the arrogant officer in the team.
But who cares? Han Ze Min just overlooked their sneaky interaction and shrugged his shoulders as if he was very much familiar with the situation.
“If I get killed in the haunted house, I would even appreciate if I die by the hands of a deadly ghost who is nothing but evil…” He threw a haughty remark at the Oldman who looked seemingly annoyed.
“Officer, please don’t joke about it… playing with supernatural forces and evil energies which are out of an ordinary, unworthy human being’s perception, I swear it won’t do any good.” Mao Bai added bit harshly as he scanned Han Ze Min with his wrinkled eyes,
“I know it won’t do any good. But I seriously want to see a ghost…once again,” Han Ze Min casually spoke as if it was no big deal for him.
“Again? Ahhh…I see…so you have already experienced the dark energy of dead…no wonder you seem a bit…” Mao Bai paused in the mid sentence as a condescending smirk bloomed over his face and took a step closer to the Han Ze Min who stood nonchalant.
“Let me see? Blood shot eyes, pale skin, ahhh…It must have been difficult to fall asleep, every night.” Mao Bai elaborated as he stared deep into Han Ze Min’s brown eyes,
“What else do I see? Fear, Grief, Anger….guilt? Do you think it was your fault that she dead, young man?”
The moment, Elder Mao made that statement Wan Yi Jun who silently listened to their weird conversation, stepped up to call it a quit, before it’s too late.
“That’s enough, elder Mao, it would be appreciable if you answer our questions.” Wan Yi Jun sternly was suggested as an effort to shift Mao Bai’s attention from Han Ze Min, so that his cousin who had a terrible anger management would do something that he might regret later.
And fortunately, Wan Yi Jun’s idea worked out.
“You are…” Mao Bai’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Wan Yi Jun in puzzlement.
“I’m Wan Yi Jun, the investigator-” Even before he could complete, the Oldman’s eyes widened in shock as he rushed towards Wan Yi Jun in lightning speed.
“Are you anyhow related to the Wan family, the warrior clan of Wisteria clan?” Mao Bai’s voice quivered as he spoke to the young man who stood before, looking so overbearing and intimidating like an emperor.
Wan Yi Jun exchanged a thoughtful glance with Han Ze Min who remained slightly bothered with this Oldman dropping truth bombs on them.
“I think you are mistaken. I don’t know what you are talking about, sorry.” Wan Yi Jun surprisingly acted as if doesn’t know what the Oldman was talking, only to confuse the rest of the people in the room.
It was only yesterday, they visited the wisteria gardens and learned that their captain was not just a corporate heir, but actually belongs to a family that acted as the pillars of this country.
He was born into pedigree that bears heroes of the nation, something he must be proud of, but still Wan Yi Jun choose to lie.
“The castle.. it used to be an army medical facility for the imperial naval fleet. It was Wan family who build it here. My grandfather used to work there as physcian and he had said that it wasn’t just a hospital, but a secret prison for Daisunese soldiers and pirates.”
“Of course, in the end it always comes down to the global agenda of ‘blame it on the government’. Now that Wan family is nearly dead, go ahead and blame them for ruining your village’s reputation.” Han Ze Min scoffed when he couldn’t no longer stop himself from responding to Mao Bai’s allegations.
“You….you don’t interfere when I am talking!!!” Mao Bai snarled at Han Ze Min who started bickering, “I’m talking to young master Wan, keep your mouth shut.”
“Oh shit.” The entire eagle team who remained as silent spectators of this highly random conversation, couldn’t help but gasp when they heard Mao Bai’s rude orders.
“You must be kidding me.” Han Ze Min tutted as he lazily walked towards Map Bai’s side and stood between the Oldman and Wan Yi Jun, like a faint mountain.
“Your Oldman taught you only about Wisteria gardens, elder Mao Bai? What about “Peony mansion or Azalea quarters or Chrysanthemum caverns? Or what the golden lotus of imperial? Did your father only taught you to politely speak to your lordships and royal families?” He bursted out in anger,
“He doesn’t know.. Stay out of it.”
