No Where To Run: Trapped With My Archenemy - Chapter 65
UNEDITED VERSION
It was true,
Like everyone else, Ming Yue also felt the presence of an unknown entity in the mansion.
Like a pair of eyes always watching her, following her everywhere she goes.
But as long as it doesn’t hurt her, Ming Yue also thought that she would refrain from searching it’s origin.
“So are you saying that there is treasure in this house and you are here to dig it up?”
“Yes. Want to team up?”
Hearing her casual tone, Qian Fan and Chao Xiong looked at each other in confusion. They couldn’t even figure out whether she was joking or not.
It was really
“We have always been curious to about the party culture at Rising Ravens. So when we bought two passes, only with the belief that we will meet some people and try booze.” Kousuke confessed. Unlike, the rest of thier cooked up story, this reason was legit. The only reason for him to visit the club just for the chance to hookup.
After juggling the hot potato named “Police interrogation” for almost two days, Yojiro and Kousuke finally decided to meet the police officer.
And they even chose an old restuarant as their meeting place to avoid any suspicion.
Not only did they change their names, but they also altered their appearances and mannerisms that suited the persona of university students.
Since they had already discussed with Ming Yue about the interrogation, Kousuke and Yojiro remained calm as if they were well prepared to face the horror.
“Shall we order?” Kousuke robotically replied as he tried his best to stay in his fake persona.
“Order something cold for me.”
“Shouldn’t we order something, Tian?” Yojiro asked as he fixed his round glasses that added highlights to his disguise as a nerdy student.
“Then iced coffee for you and frappuccino for me.” Kousuke nodded and stood up from the seat like a broken robot, only to sit again in frustration.
“Aishhh, I don’t think I can pretend in front of a police officer.” He pulled his hair into a mess and continued to whine, “What if he saw through our shitty acting and catch us red-handedly?”
“Shitty acting? Speak for yourself, Lin Tian.” Yojiro’s mouth haughtily curled into a smirk as he kept his cool, unlike Kousuke, who was having a hard time pretending as someone else.
Well, they were living under fake identities, perfectly fooling everyone till now. However, it won’t be easy with diligent police officers.
All of a sudden, Yojiro’s cellphone rang and as soon as he saw the number on the screen, he raised his head a little and glanced across the cafe.
“He is here.”
The moment his eyes fell on the handsome man who entered the cafe, wearing a pair of baggy jeans and a graphic hoodie.
Maybe it was their first time seeing Lao Yating wear something different than his usual neat and crisp dressing style as a police officer.
a random person who does not give off the police vibes.
Lao Yating thought get-up was something simple and easy-going style, but in reality, he looked so stunning that as soon as he entered the cafe, everyone present over there turned their heads.
However, watching Lao Yating’s transformation, even Yojiro, who was hard to impress, left his seat in awe.
Since Yojiro aka Ming Jiang, pleaded to keep their interrogation as secret as possible, Lao Yating had no other option but to disguise himself into a
“Brother, here.” He waved his hand and called the cool brother towards them with a wide grin gleaming over his face.
“Brother?” For a moment, even Lao Yating was confused by the friendly gesture.
Just as he reached the aisle seat the duo was sitting, Yojiro quickly wrapped him into a warm embrace.
“Senior, this is my cousin, Lin Tian. Xiao Tian, this is my senior-” Yojiro paused in the mid-sentence and signalled the other to introduce himself.
“Cough..cough…Nice to meet you Xiao Tian, I’m Lao Yating.” He raised his hand and made a fist bump, “I have heard a lot about you from my junior.”
Kousuke, who finally got the idea of what’s happening around him, grinned like an idiot and invited Lao Yating to join over a coffee,
“Please pretend as my senior, officer,” Yojiro whispered into the ears of a petrified Lao Yating who never expected such a thing in his wildest nightmare. However, even before he could regain his bearings, Yojiro has released a frozen “cool guy” from his embrace and turned towards Kousuke, who was even more surprised by the 180-degree turn of events.
“Please sit down, senior.”
As soon as they took a seat, Lao Yating carefully studied the young men who sat opposite to him,
Two of them indeed looked tired to death- the clear way to distinguish a student from the rest of the crowd.
“Then, how’s your work, senior?” Yojiro tried to initiate a conversation with the police officer and Lao Yating, who was waiting for the right moment to mention the purpose of his visit, cut the chase as soon as he got an opportunity.
“Everything was going fine until our team had to investigate a murder at a nightclub.” Lao Yating added in a casual tone, that clearly befitted his easy-going demeanour.
“Shhushhh!!! You can’t say the M-word like that.” A startled Kousuke placed a finger on his lips and stopped the others from talking,
“M-word, oh yeah.” It took Lao Yating a moment to realize what’s meant by that. The “junior Tian” was trying to remind him to avoid words that related to the case or the murder in particular.
“What do you want to drink, senior? It’s my treat.” Yojiro tried to change the topic in a glimpse,
“I don’t want anything.”
“No, no. We are meeting after a long time. So you should order something to commemorate our reunion.” Kousuke showed his support and urged the others to continue their friendly act. When Lao Yating felt that these boys were trying to bribe him with their pretentious act, he also added his fair share of sarcastic shots.
“Then get me the expensive drink on the menu.” He smoothly moved the menu card towards, Kousuke who seemed to be the chatty one in the room.
However, Yojiro who saw through the police officer’s plan suggested without even looking at the menu.
“Kopi Luwak is the most expensive one on the menu.”
“What’s that?” Kousuke curiously raised his eyebrows when he heard some strange word,
“The civet poop coffee.”
“Eeewww…” Kousuke who wrinkled his face at the mere thought of it quickly hit the other with the menu card, making the austere Lao Yating break into a faint smile.
“I’ll have an espresso.”
“Iced coffee,”
“Frappucino for me, let me go and order it.” Kousuke volunteered to order their drinks, leaving the other two with their conversation.
“It seems like you are really worried about your scholarship, you even kept the meeting place far away from the university.” Lao Yating meaningfully added when he finally got a moment to connect the dots.
“Yes, senior. I’m too desperate to retain my scholarship till the end of my course. So, thank you so much, for agreeing to meet me like this.”
“What’s your major, Junior Ming?”
“Food science.”
“Wow, that’s great. So both of you are on the scholarship or its just you?”
“Both of us are under the ‘Aspiring youth scholarship’ in Jing university. Tian happened to be in the technical department.”
“So you must be a top scorer to qualify for the scholarship. Congratulations, kiddo and it would be a shame if you lose it over something trivial.” Lao Yating honestly stated as he recalled how important might be the scholarship for a student who went to this extent to secure it.
“Thank you, sir.”
“I assume that you have a local guardian since you two came from Zhi Ruo, for studies. Can I get his or her’s contact details?”
“My sister is our local guardian.”
“Is she working here or -?”
“She works as a house helper in a mansion.”
“House help, I see… Can you give me her address and contact number?”
“Why? Do you want our sister to take care of your house chores?” Kousuke who returned with their drinks asked a question without knowing the context. “Sorry, she is not available.”
“Tian, what are you saying? Just sit here.” Yojiro told in a chiding tone and made his brother sit next to him, before he ruins their plan.
“We live together in a rental house next to the jing university with our sister, and unfortunately, she doesn’t have a personal phone. If there are any emergencies, usually we contact her on the house owner’s number.”
“Hmm, whatever, give me that number too.” When Lao Yating understood that Yojiro was making excuses just not to give the contact details, ardently demanded.
“Well, I won’t contact your sister if you explain everything that you have witnessed on the New year party at Rising Ravens.” Lao Yating made a fair deal,
“Booze or something else?”
“No…no…our sister will kill us if we did something wrong.”
“If you are so scared of your sister, then why did you go clubbing?”
“We didn’t want to do anything that might disappoint her.”
“We went there out of curiosity and to experience, the normal adult life”
“And did you experience it?”
“Nope.. Even before we could hit on some girls, the M-word happened, scaring the shit out of everyone.
