No Where To Run: Trapped With My Archenemy - Chapter 66
Unedited
After Wan Yi Jun’s constant efforts to convince the construction workers that no ghosts are wandering in the wisteria gardens, the renovation works finally started.
When the workers realized that the girl whom they mistook as a ghost in the haunted house, turned out to be the maid of the house, they couldn’t help, but laugh at their mistake.
Though they felt a little better after hearing that “Human beings” do live in the mansion, the deep-rooted fear in their mind never ended, and thus, they have decided to work in groups instead of going into the different parts of the house.
Since Ming Yue stayed at the mansion, supervising the renovation during the day, most of the young men among the construction workers were excited to stay close to her.
Indeed, a beautiful woman’s company made them forget their fears at least
I still can’t believe we all mistook an angel like a girl, as a ghost? How can Miss Ming be a ghost? She is an absolute beauty.”
“I never mistook as her a ghost. You guys were the ones who flee from here out of fear.”
“When are you going to install the security cameras?”
“It’s done by the electrical team, they will be here at any moment.”
“How many of them are coming and will they be able to finish it today itself?”
“Mostly, three or four electricians will be there. But since this mansion is quite big, there will be more people.”
“Hmmm, please do inform me when they reach here.”
“Miss Ming, how will I inform you if you won’t give me your phone number?”
“I don’t have a phone.”
“Huh?”
“That’s young master’s phone.”
“Why are you trying so hard? She is clearly not interested in you.”
“Well, nothing wrong in asking for. What if gets lucky.”
“People like us, we will never get lucky. You have seen the young master of this mansion, haven’t you? He is the one who is going to be lucky.”
“Hey, that’s not possible. He is a reputed police officer.”
“They are staying together in a huge mansion, even if something going between them no one will know.”
“I’m damn sure that woman like her only got one goal, to seduce men and leech them off.”
“I don’t think so.”
“No one is here; I will prove it, right now.”
”
It was true.
Even before Kousuke and Yojiro could mingle with others and enjoy the evening in the club, they saw a masked man chasing down a woman with a broken bottle, creating horror across the dancing floor.
Gory murders and scary culprits weren’t a new sight for them who grew up in a mafia family, but unfortunately, at that moment, they had no other option but to leave the club.
“And then what did you do other than picking up the girls.” For some reason, Lao Yating’s sound felt heavier than before.
Since she is the only woman in the clan, the enemies often try to intimidate her showing off their strength and power. But she always remains unaffected, just to piss off others and lose their control.
“We had two main reasons. Firstly the fear of losing the scholarship and secondly, getting into trouble that our sister can’t solve.” Yojiro stated while directly gazing into Lao Yating’s almond eyes.
“So you weren’t worried about the attack or your life when a murderer showed up in the club?”
“If we have stayed there, there was a high chance of ruining the rest of our lives,” Kousuke admitted as if it was the right thing to do at that time.
“Our life has already been ruined, and this scholarship is the last chance for us to rewrite our fate. So we don’t want to lose the opportunity because of someone’s wrath.” Kousuke confessed as they practised earlier.
“I have witnessed a murder like that,” Yojiro paused for a moment and gulped a mouthful of saliva, “I have seen it and what happens when someone stabs another to death.”
“Who?” Lao Yating was naturally curious to learn more, so he asked without second thoughts.
“That’s how a child in our orphanage killed our bastard caretaker.” The moment those words left Yojiro’s mouth with a slight hue of a snicker, Lao Yating couldn’t help but doubt the men in front of him. Though they looked like university students, it didn’t guarantee that they would turn out nice. There was every chance for them to turn out as the culprit they were searching, ardently.
“You and your sister grew up in an orphanage, and he is your cousin?” Lao Yating asked when his brain got twisted by the sudden info.
“Three of us grew up in the same orphanage, and our sister who got out of that hell, later adopted us.” Yojiro broke the complexity of their situation into simpler terms and explained it to a confused Lao Yating, who sat with a face brimming with dubiety. Since Ming Yue has shared her version of the story with them, all they had to do was to add their fair share of tear-jerking, obviously fake memories.
“Well, it’s better to say that three of us adopted each other,” Kousuke added with a sunny smile that almost gave off the impression that he was telling the truth.
“I don’t understand.” Lao Yating said if he got more confused as he listened to them.
“So you two grew up in an orphanage, and your current guardian adopted you. She works hard to send you two to the university. Is that right?” He sought clarification before learning more
“We were cousins, and all of our family members died in a shoot out happened in our village, Zhi Ruo a border country between imperial police and Daisunese mafia. Our sister, who also lost her parents, was also sent to the shelter home, just like us.” Yojiro rendered everything that he learned from Ming Yue like a parrot.
“It was a hell for us. Our sister is the one who saved us from there.” Kousuke, who was a better actor when it comes to melodramatic performance, almost modulated his tone to fit his sad story like a pro.
“She worked as a handmaiden for a lady, and with that money, she sent us to school first and now university.” He sniffled and even broke his voice, to add up into his act,
“It was a huge mistake from our side. We shouldn’t have gone to that club in the first place. Please, don’t let anyone know that we went there with the scholarship money. We really don’t want our sister to feel that he was feeding two thieves, all these years. Please, sir, don’t tell our sister and break her heart.” Kousuke reached out to hold Lao Yating’s arms and begged in a broken voice.
“As I have said earlier, there is nothing to worry about it, If you are innocent and have done nothing wrong otherwise, I’m sorry. I can’t help.” Lao Yating pulled out his hands and stated in a stern face. Well, he did believe their story but was not ready to show it on his face. He didn’t want them to know that he got a soft heart.
“I swear, we didn’t do anything wrong. You can check the CCTV footage from the night.” Kousuke repeated his line once again,
“We have checked the footage.”
Did you see anything suspicious, or did you meet someone who acted out of the place?
Most of them were drunk and appeared high on some drugs.
Did anyone approach you to try out some drugs or bring you any drinks or such things?
No, sir. How can we even afford those drinks served in that club? It is too costly. We only had one or two drinks.”
“But there were so many men and women offering drinks to others. And those were special ones, like those served in hostess clubs.”
“Special ones?”
“Those drinks came in fancy looking glasses and bottles, and it was brought into the by even fancy looking bartenders.”
“You saw it?”
“Yes. What happened off- Nah brother, nobody ever mentioned it about. Don’t tell me we were the first ones to tell you about this thing.”
“Hmm. Anyway, thank you so much for cooperating with us.”
“Is it over?”
“That’s only you needed to hear? Can we leave?”
“Where is your student ID’s?”
“Student ID?”
“To keep it as identity proofs with your statements.”
“We will give the id proofs to you, but can you make sure to hide our names from the public? Is that possible?”
“Yes. I will personally do it and you must not leave the capital for the next fourteen days.”
“Where will we go, we got nowhere.”
“Please, don’t tell our sister. She doesn’t know anything.”
“Hmm. I will take care of that, too.”
“Yaaa…can you believe it, Yoji?”
“I never expected Nechan’s words to turn out exactly true.”
“Imperial police force is so easy to fool.”
