No Where To Run: Trapped With My Archenemy - Chapter 76
Unedited Version- Please wait for 1 hour
“Sleep with me tonight,” Wan Yi Jun’s sharp voice resonated in the room, sending tremors to Ming Yue’s highly guarded heart. She wished to turn and kill him right away, but her state at the moment seemed so scandalous.
“Master, please don’t joke.” Ming Yue sternly demanded as soon as she heard Wan Yi Jun’s odd request.
“I’m not joking.” He corrected while staring out of the window. His face was half-lit by the bright chandelier lights and remained ice cold while he kept his eyes focused on the dark outline in the traditional annexe.
“It would be better if we sleep in the same room.” Wan Yi Jun compelled once again without even shifting his gaze from the balcony. However, Ming Yue, who got totally shaken by his words, unknowingly turned around while holding the bedsheets to her chest.
At the same time, Wan Yi Jun who changed his gaze from the balcony abruptly tangled his eyes with Ming Yue’s red swollen eyes, which indicated her pain and confusion.
The pain was obviously from the wounds, but the confusion that overpowered her every other motion depicted only one thing- She was taken aback by Wan Yi Jun’s blatant words.
Well, his demand was a direct invitation to spend the night together and it took her a long minute to convey her intentions regarding his “offer.”
“Master, you said you like someone…” Ming Yue said as she gently covered her naked upper body from Wan Yi Jun’s sharp and curious eyes. “You said that no other woman than her matters to you…then why are you asking me such a thing?” Of Course, the first thing Ming Yue did to answer his counter question was to remind him about his girlfriend and escape from replying with a huge No. However, to her surprise, Wan Yi Jun responded to her reply without changing his aloof and cold demeanor.
“It’s my fault.” He quickly apologized.
“Ofcourse, it is your fault.” Ming Yue quickly agreed to his words as if she was very much interested to find a reason to neglect his demand.
“I do understand that people tend to waver under the situation, but master, you have someone you like…please stay away from infidelity. It won’t bring you any good-.”
All of a sudden, Wan Yi Jun’s thick eyebrows arched in confusion when he interrupted her in the mid sentence. Well, it wasn’t a difficult task to figure out what Ming Yue was aiming at.
“Infidelity? Miss, please listen to me first.” He walked towards her, but the moment when he recalled the fact that she was half naked. “Well it would be even better if you wear something first.” He said and turned to the opposite direction as if he was giving Ming Yue some time to gather her clothes.
Well, she was being extra careful after watching the lustrous glint in Wan Yi Jun’s face. Ming Yue quickly wore her clothes and cleared her throat as if she was giving him a signal to continue from where he had left behind.
However, still he stood there, facing the white wall instead of turning around,
“Do you remember what I said when you started working here?” Wan Yi Jun gave a simple introduction, before he started explaining the reason for his odd request.
“You will take care of my responsibility.” Ming Yue recited like a parrot and made a vague effort to stand up from the bed, only to collapse again as soon as Wan Yi Jun repeated his intention to sleep with her.
“Yes, so listen to me and sleep with me.” He turned around to look at the girl sitting on the bed and relentlessly spoke without any hesitations.
“But, you said that you don’t have any ulterior motives.” Ming Yue coldly stated without showing the discomfort bubbling inside her mind. Well, she wasn’t expecting any of these conversations, that too with Wan Yi Jun who was once known as Mister Perfect.
“You are hurt, Ming Yue. That’s why I am asking you to sleep in the same room as me. What if something happens while you are asleep?”
“Same room?” Ming Yue mumbled as she started to contemplate over the issues that she had to face if she shares the room with him. First of all, it would be a huge hassle to keep her lens and sleep. If she removes the lens, then there is no guarantee that she could keep her bi-coloured eyes a secret from him.
“Even if it’s so, I am not sleeping on the same bed as you.” Ming Yue stated as a matter of fact, only to raise a dubious look from the man who stood before her.
“Who said about sleeping on the same bed? I am just worried about you.” Wan Yi Jun corrected her, without emphasizing how she mistook his words, ” It’s the first time you are staying in this mansion and yet you got yourself into two accidents. So, it’s a bit difficult for me to leave you alone tonight and sleep soundly.”
Whether it is because of the honesty resounding in his voice or just because she felt it unsafe to stay alone in the room, after what she had experienced a few minutes ago.
“I agree.” Ming Yue finally made up her mind and asked Wan Yi Jun to lead her to his room, with no delay.
At this moment, Wan Yi Jun’s room was the safest place in the entire mansion and she had no other option, but to spend the night with him.
“You can take the bed, I will sleep on the couch.” Wan Yi Jun suggested as soon as he opened the door to his bedroom,
“You are not curious about the other scars?”
“You have told me that life wasn’t easy for you.”
“I asked someone to do it.”
“Why?”
“Beautiful ones were sent to courtesan houses, ugly ones were sent to brothels and scarred ones, they were sold as slaves.”
“Slave market in this country? When did this happen?”
“A couple of years ago. I was supposed to be sent to a brothel, but someone took a liking in me and approached the house with a huge offer.”
“Did it make any difference?”
“I asked him to kill me but he just made a laceration to scare off the buyer.”
“Him?”
“The one whom I mentioned earlier.”
“The one whom you like?”
“I’m indebted to him.”-
“He was barely eighteen when I met him for the first time. The youngest son of a rich family. He was having the college entrance when he got to know that they were selling me off to an old man. He came and tried to stop them…took many hits for me…His
“It’s another world, master. oo, dark and gore for people like you.”
”
“I’m sorry you had to go through such a painful ordeal.
He took some smoothing salve, before wrapping her bruised shoulder with bandages in silence. Leyla sat still, head still looking down, as her body shook in the tension between them.
Matthias rubbed soothing circles on her uninjured side as he went and wrapped her bruises securely, yet tenderly. He had been right; she was smooth to the touch, very soft beneath his fingers.
He wanted to touch her more. She was such a frail woman indeed; so small and so vulnerable.
Her eyes then shifted to meet Matthias in the mirror, seeing his cerulean eyes staring back at her. A strange feeling came over her, locking her in place as she found herself unable to look away despite the terror she was feeling.
‘Why…?’
She wondered to herself the more she looked at him through the mirror, trying to convey the question with her eyes…
So innocent… so clearly looking at him for some sort of explanation as to why this was all happening.
Matthias chuckled dryly to himself in his mind, his eyes breaking contact to take in her now bandaged shoulder. He felt too hot, his breath controlled, yet too harsh as he struggled to wet his parched lips.
His eyes went back to look at Leyla once more, before realising that he had been the one to back away first from her. In all his years of knowing Leyla, he’d never once backed down for her.
‘Damn it.’
He cursed himself for his ineptitude. He felt as though he had been cursed, but only he could feel the way his body grew hotter, breathing out hot puffs of air through his mouth.
Before he could let out another sigh, Matthias leaned forward and planted a light kiss on Leyla’s shoulder to turn a blind eye to the unfamiliar emotion stirring inside him and a vague attempt to console the wounded girl. He wasn’t acting like himself, but he found that didn’t mind; not even a little bit.
“It’s all right.” Matthias tenderly whispered in Leyla’s ear while she attempted to turn her body away. His voice dipped down into a husky tone, creating a strange sensation travelling down Leyla’s spine.
She hastily avoided his gaze once more, unable to look any longer in the mirror.
” How did you get a bruise?”
“The tree branch hit me slightly.”
“This is not going to end well. Get dressed quickly, and let’s get checked. What if you broke some bones?”
