Noim Connected Worlds - 22 And By Everyone I Literally Mean Everyone.
“Ehem, ehem. Let’s talk business, shall we?” Edizon noticed the awkward atmosphere and immediately decided to break it.
“Like how all organizations are made, let’s start by choosing a name.” Edizon chattered as he took another sip of his almost cold brewed coffee.
“Wait… Won’t it be better if we decide on a strategy or product rather than a name first… That way, we can choose a matching name based on the purpose of our org.” Alice asked.
“See that’s where you and every other startup that has gone bankrupt are wrong. There is always another purpose. In fact, a company can have thousands of good products but still vanish into thin air later in the game. Do you know why? It’s because, aside from their measly products that will later on be replaced by something else, their organization doesn’t have a role in the society. You have to always have a role, you have to always have a function. A purpose for your organization to continue existing.” Edizon stood up as he preached.
Isabella couldn’t help but blush whenever she sees Edizon like this. This was basically one of the reasons why she likes the guy.
*cough* *cough*
Alice faked a cough twice as she sneakily elbowed Isabella to get her attention. She had been lectured by Isabella for two days about how should she behave, yet Isabella herself is blushing in front Edizon. Oh, the irony.
They continued discussing the current topic for another five minutes before Alice threw this question…
“Okay… But why do you keep generalizing your terms? Are we going to do something shady?”
“That’s because he’s evil.” William threw a joke to see if he can pry out why Alice’s attitude towards him suddenly turned a 180 degrees.
“All men are evil.” Alice stared daggers at William before facing edizon again to queue him for his turn.
…
“Okay, time for the specifics…” Edizon stood up once again as he started explaining.
“Our organization’s current goal is to gain overall control within Lockeguard City.” It took quite a few twists and turns but when Edizon dropped the bomb. Alice and Isabella’s scalp tingled. If it was any other man they would probably be throwing sarcastic remarks right now. But the two men in front of them was something beyond their comprehension.
“Are you saying that we’ll create a guild that will overpower and suppress everyone within that small city?”
“If we try to overpower everyone, they would probably burn us down one way or another. Internal strifes, guilds ganging up on us, it would only take a matter of time before it all comes crashing down on us. We’re gonna have to be the power that controls everything in the background.”
“And how are we gonna do that?” Isabella asked out of curiosity.
“A secret organization can only grow by much before getting discovered and burned by the masses. A schemer being found out would gather the perfect excuse for the people to tie him up and burn him on a stick.”
Alice got intrigued by Edizon’s stance and immediately turned her game face on. She had been involved in various politics during her career as a pro gamer so she had some idea on how people act whenever they’re on tough times. She composed herself before asking…
“Yes. Which is exactly the reason why complete control has never been achieved by any guild before. Your explanation keeps hitting a dead end. What are you suggesting?”
“But what if everyone played a role? They couldn’t possibly burn off themselves right?” *Chuckle*
“That is why everyone has to play their role…”
“And by everyone, I literally mean everyone.”
…
