Noob Player - Chapter 80
Complete meant when all ten players gathered in the hidden village. They had six people now, four combat classes and two production classes. It would not take long before the village had ten players. They predicted that they would be complete in a month or two months at the latest.
However, Shen did not have a hope to build the tribe with just ten people. He did not think that they could make it even if they managed to establish the tribe. Lasting for a day might be good already for them. Especially with the monster around the village being much stronger.
He did not share his pessimistic thoughts with ZhenZhen as the girl tried to encourage him, “Alright then, I will be going now,” He stood up from the chair and walked toward the exit. Halfway toward the exit, he heard a familiar shout, “Shen! Wait for me! Let’s hunt together!”
Shen halted his steps and turned around. Ming rushed out of his house and waved his hand toward him. He was surprised as he thought that Ming was visiting his grandfather in Hangzhou, but why was this guy here? He stopped for Ming as the guy caught up, “Let’s hunt together, Shen!”
“I thought you were visiting your grandfather? But why are you here now?” Shen asked his friend. He thought that Ming should go together with his family instead of grinding with him. They could grind the levels any time but it was once a while to visit his grandparents’ place.
“I am in Hangzhou,” Ming nodded his head.
“Then how… Don’t tell me you bring your gaming pod with you?” Shen remembered that Ming’s father had a pick-up car. He could bring the gaming pod with him.
“I am not that crazy, Shen. We only visited my grandfather for three days,” Ming shook his head, “I am playing at a gaming cafe near my grandfather’s place. After hearing that I decided to play Tribe Online as my career, my grandpa actually supports me,” He said that with a bright smile. He was genuinely happy that someone supported his passion.
“Gaming cafe?” Shen was familiar with this term. From the history of the gaming industry, people played games on PC. A gaming cafe was a place where people rented PCs to play the game. It was until VR technology took the world with a storm. People started to leave the game on PC and choose the gaming Pod instead, giving a sensation that people could not get by playing the game on PC. The game developer also started to focus on creating games for VR. He never heard that term again after that.
“Yes, it’s a place that rents the gaming pod,” Ming nodded his head, “Sky released a Public Pod that can be used by everyone. There are actually a lot of Gaming Cafes that rent gaming pods.”
Shen nodded his head. Sky did not want to miss the big business by releasing the Public Pod. So the people who could not afford to buy, they could rent the gaming pod to play.
“But it must be expensive!?” Recalling the price for the gaming pod, the rent price should be expensive.
Before Ming could reply, ZhenZhen called him out, “Ming, this is your food. You can eat this slowly as I made more fish for your supply,”
Ming thanked ZhenZhen as he took his seat, “You are right about that. Can you believe that the price for an hour’s rent is 20 Yuan? It’s a two days meal for an hour renting the pod.”
“That’s actually expensive…” Shen agreed with that. 200 Yuan for ten hours, it was not worth it. He felt that the owner of the gaming cafe was overcharging the fee. Just like Ming said, it could be a meal for two days depending on what they eat. That would defeat the purpose of renting the gaming pod as it would be more worth buying the exclusive gaming pod.
But 500k Yuan for the cheapest Gaming Pod. It rivaled the price of a house and luxury car. Of course, it was just a small house and the cheapest luxury car. But it was still unbelievable that Sky would sell their gaming pod at that price. While many could afford to buy one, many also could not afford the cheapest one. Renting the gaming pod was an option for those who could not afford to buy it.
They chatted as Ming finished his fish. By the time he finished his meal, ZhenZhen had prepared the supply for Ming. Less than Shen’s supply, but he could share it later if Ming needed more.
After Ming got his buff, the two friends headed out of the village. Outside the village, Yue and Dale were running together. They exchanged greetings as Ming grumbled, “Look at Dale, how dare he make a move on Goddess Yue?”
Shen wanted to say why Dale could not make a move on Yue? One was a man and the other one was a girl. It was a normal thing, especially a beauty such as Yue. He did not say as Ming was a fanatic fan of Yue and he might be jealous as he made no progress with ZhenZhen. It was just jealousy, he did not comment lest his friend triggered.
“What about you, Shen? Don’t you have an interest in Yue? Why don’t you try to get closer to her? I would rather have you with Yue and that playboy Dale,” Ming looked at Shen.
“Me and Yue? She is indeed pretty but I don’t think we are in the same class as her. I would rather maintain our relationship as a friend,” Shen shook his head. It was not realistic for him to pursue her. If he wanted to date or even marry a girl like Yue, he needed to raise his class as well at the same level as her.
He did not have the qualification for that. She was famous, wealthy, well-educated at least, she finished college, and he heard that she was an official daughter and her grandfather was a retired General. Her background was quite daunting for the unknown Shen. Dale might suit her instead of him actually. He just did not say it aloud.
“But I noticed that Yue seemed to be interested in you, Shen,” Ming looked at Shen weirdly. For some reason, he felt that way.
“Oh, really?” Shen looked at his friend suspiciously, “How do you know that? I don’t feel that way and I don’t think she would be interested in me. I feel that she has been treating everyone the same,”
“No, that’s something different when she talks with you…” before Ming could finish his sentence, Shen cut him off, “We are here, it’s time to hunt, Ming,”
“Tsk, you are a weirdo for sure. How can you don’t even have a fantasy for someone like Yue?” Ming shook his head as he prepared his dagger and Shen took out his sword.
The two had been moving around the river to search for the Guardian Fish. After seven days of farming the Guardian Fish, the number of the fish had been reduced. If they stood at the edge of the river in the first days they hunted the Guardian Fish, no fish would attack them again. Since then they had been exploring downstream.
“Let’s check it first, Ming. Maybe the Guardian Fish has respawned,” Shen walked toward the edge of the river. They were at the area where they hunted the Guardian Fish on the first day. Ming nodded and followed Shen, they stood there for two minutes, but no fish attacked them.
“Let’s go upstream, Shen. we haven’t gone there yet,” Ming pointed toward the direction and Shen nodded. They followed the river upstream, of course, they did not walk at the edge of the water. The two were cautious not to get a surprise attack from the fish.
After ten minutes of walking, they stopped, “I think this is a good hunting spot. There are a lot of trees here,” Shen pointed to their surroundings. Even though they had leveled up to level over 20, they still used the same trick to hunt the fish. It was way easier to hunt that way than wasting their stamina to dodge the Guardian Fish’s strike repeatedly.
“Alright, then.” Ming put some distance from Shen and walked toward the edge of the river. He needed to have some distance so the fish would aggro toward him instead of Shen. Shen did the same.
Usually, it would take ten to thirty seconds for the Guardian Fish to attack them. Twenty seconds quickly passed but no fish attacked them. Just as they thought they might not get far enough from the original spot, a huge wave splashed from the water as an enormous fish jumped out of the river.
The fish leaped toward Shen. He immediately activated [Void Step] and lunged to the side. He rolled on the ground and immediately got up again and regrouped with Ming. Ming was shocked as well by the size of the fish.
The fish was two times bigger than them, having silver scales, golden snout, and silver crown on top of the head. It was similar to Guardian Fiss but bigger. Instead of two legs, this one had four hindlegs and three pairs of silver whiskers above its snout.
“It’s a Boss Monster!” Ming shouted. He placed his dagger on his waist. Then he pulled the bow and the arrow on his back. He aimed the arrow toward the belly as it tried to move toward their direction. The arrow hit the belly and the floating text appeared above.
