Noob Player - Chapter 88
Shen sneaked around behind the bushes and the trees, making his way toward the Frozen Hill. He had to pass two tribe’s territories, the Green Monkey and Wrath Troll.
He was now in Green Monkey’s territory, hiding behind the bushes. He looked at the tree five meters ahead of him. There was a group of five green-furred monkeys on the tree. The monkey was bigger than a normal monkey around a meter tall with a long tail. At the end of the tail was a triangle head made of steel. He could see that green gas oozed out from the triangle steel.
The Blizzard Tiger told him that the monkey was agile and venomous. He had to be careful with them. Not like Shen planned to confront the green monkeys. He waited behind the bushes, waiting for them to leave before he continued the journey toward the Frozen Hill.
He did not know how strong the monkey was but since this was far from the village, the monkey should be stronger than the chicken that he could not kill yet. Shen was not going to risk it. Patience was the key to achieve his mission to get the Ice Dew.
He waited there for three minutes before the green monkeys left the tree. He looked around to make sure that no monster was around before he left the hiding spot. That was what he had been doing for the last three hours. This was truly an arduous task for him and a boring task as well. However, he had been doing this kind of thing since the start of the game. Exploring the area around the village by sneaking around to find a way out of the village. So he was quite good at sneaking around.
Shen continued his journey. He kept looking at the trees above him. The monkeys loved to stay on the tree so he had to watch above him. Walking from a tree to another tree, bush after bush, he slowly got away from the Green Monkey’s territory.
Half an hour later, he entered the Wrath Troll’s territory. He could tell that as the trees in the two territories were different. The trees in the Green Monkey’s territory were taller, averaging around eight to ten meters. While the trees in this new territory were around five to six meters tall.
Shen was doing the same, sneaking around between the trees until he heard the sound of branches snapped. He halted his steps and ducked his head. He put his ears, trying to listen to where the noise came from.
Cracked!
His heartbeat spiked up. The voice came from the other side of his tree. He had his back on the tree. He did not dare to peek toward the noise. It was fortunate that the tree trunk was big enough to cover his body. There was no bush to cover him as well. He squatted there and waited. He was waiting for the troll to leave as he assumed the one who made the noise was the Wrath Troll.
Shen did not know the difference between the normal troll and Wrath Troll. He was curious what Wrath Troll looked like. In the previous game, the troll was a green-skinned monster with two big tusks on the mouth. Famous for their high regeneration and their big strength. That was the only thing he knew about the troll. He knew nothing about this Wrath Troll aside from that this troll was a subspecies of a troll and stronger than a normal troll. That was what the Blizzard Tiger told him.
The fortunate thing about the Wrath Troll was that they moved alone instead of in a group. So if the creature on the other side of the tree was a Wrath Troll, it must be alone. He could try to outrun the troll or wait patiently.
‘I will wait for now. If the Wrath Troll finds me then I will run,’ Shen wanted to play it safe. If the Wrath Troll was faster than him then he would be screwed. If he died here he had to return from the village. This place was too far from the village, so he could not die here.
The sound of the branches snapped kept ringing as he heard the steps go away from his tree. He made sure that the Wrath Troll was away from the three then he dared to peek at the creature. The Wrath Troll had its back on him. To his surprise, the Wrath Troll was different than the troll in his previous game. Instead of green skin, the Wrath Troll had red skin. The Wrath Troll was around two and a half meters tall and was holding a long pike. The wide shoulders and buffed body were quite intimidating to less than two meters Shen.
The unfortunate thing was that the Wrath Troll was heading in the same direction as his destination. When the troll was around ten meters away from him, he started to follow the troll. He made sure to not make any sound and slowly walked to another tree.
The Wrath Troll walked so slowly, and he had to follow its pace. Each time it walked for twenty meters, it would stop and look around. He did not know whether the Wrath Troll was hunting or just patrolling in its territory.
‘Should I throw something in the opposite direction?’ He thought of throwing a stone to make noise, hoping the Wrath Troll would go away so he could travel faster instead of following its pace. If this continued, it would be dangerous when the night arrived. He did not know what kind of monster he would face at night.
As for hunting the troll, that never crossed his mind. First, he did not have a weapon to fight. Second, he could kill the Guardian Fish and the King of the Guardian Fish with his cheap trick. That would not work on the Wrath Troll. He was not going to risk his level to fight the troll.
Shen picked up the stone and threw the stone at the bushes that were far away from him. At the sound of the bushes, the Wrath Troll looked toward the bushes. The plan was working as the Wrath Troll approached the bushes. When the troll was far enough, Shen walked out of his cover.
Crack!
Shen’s heartbeat spiked up as he stepped on a branch. He subconsciously turned his head toward the Wrath Troll. It stopped its steps as well and turned around.
He finally managed to satisfy his curiosity to see what the Wrath Troll looked like. However, he did not want this to happen as well. This was the last thing he wanted. There was no second thought as he immediately activated [Void Step] and dashed away from the Wrath Troll.
Fwoosh!
“KUWOOOO!” The Wrath Troll screamed as it raised the pike and chased after Shen.
Shen did not dare to look back. He dodged the obstacle in front of him and ran as fast as possible. At this time, he felt that the training was paid off. He ran fast without running out of breath and his speed was constant. After a minute, Shen looked back and found that not just one Wrath Troll that chased but three.
“What the…”
