Not A Cultivator - Chapter 102
“Yes, He’s the new guard.”
Qian Hui turned his head to Yuan Bao Shang, “Hey, introduce yourself…”
“F*ck!”
Suddenly, Yuan Bao Shang cursed out of nowhere.
As fast as he could, Yuan Bao Shang headed to the other direction and jumped. Because his identity was compromised, there’s nothing else he can do but run. If he could not get out of here, the only option left was to die.
“He found out, already?”
Qian Hui was amazed. He never thought Yuan Bao Shang found the truth this fast, as expected of the Silver Hands Owl. Did Head Guard Cui said too much? Anyway, there was no use thinking about it. What’s important was to catch Yuan Bao Shang as soon as possible.
With his right hand pointing at the running Yuan Bao Shang, Qian Hui shouted as loud as he could. “Catch him!!! The spy is running away!”
“Spy!?” Head Guard Cui was surprised. The one who said the running guard is a spy was Qian Hui, so somehow it was not credible. But, after personally trained Qian Hui for the past several days, Head Guard Cui knows him well.
for visiting.
Qian Hui only lies if he has an advantage where he could skip training. He would not dare to lie about an important matter such as spy there’s nothing in it for him. Besides, if he gives misinformation, Head Guard Cui would always give him some punishment.
“Chase him!!!” Head Guard Cui roared.
All guards in the area followed Head Guard Cui to chase after Yuan Bao Shang.
As he was running away, Yuan Bao Shang looked back for a second. They were chasing after him, but this only confirmed everything that he thought was right.
There were too many guards to count he’ll die the moment he got caught. However, Yuan Bao Shang was from Silver Hands Owl. All its members do not have a high quality of combat. But they were good at other things like stealing, sneaking, assassination and escape arts.
Out of all the skills, the Elder of Silver Hands Owl especially makes sure that all their members mastered the escape arts. For surviving was the main thing, without being alive none of the other skills matter.
Thus all members of Silver Hands were faster than others, including Yuan Bao Shang. Although Yuan Bao Shang was only an Iron Mortal Realm just like Qian Hui, he’s as fast as an Iron Sky Realm Cultivator. Most of the guards could not keep up with his speed, only some of them who’s an Iron Sky Realm Cultivator or above could follow.
The closest one to him was Head Guard Cui since he was the strongest out of all of them. But, it’s a mistake to think that catching Yuan Bao Shang would be easy. He made a sharp left turn and headed into the residential area of the Feng Clan.
Using the environment to his advantage, Yuan Bao Shang displayed an excellent style of parkour. Jumping up the roof, sidestepping a wall, and even putting an obstacle behind him to hinder the chasers progression.
The guards were troubled by this because they never have an opportunity of chasing someone in this kind of environment. Even Head Guard Cui slowed down because of it. As a result, the gaps between Yuan Bao Shang and the guards become wider.
It’s already more than 10 minutes since they started chasing, but they couldn’t catch him yet. Yuan Bao Shang was very crafty as he keeps making turns and heads to the residential area if he sees one. But, because of this reason, the slower guards were able to catch up with the faster senior in front.
Then, Qian Hui just got an idea. “Let’s throw something at him!”
The guards nearby mocked him for a bad idea, “What do you mean by throwing something? With him running around like that it will be hard to aim, plus his armour will be a hindrance.”
“It’s okay! He’s not wearing any armour!” Qian Hui said.
“He’s not wearing!?”
The nearby guards also heard him. Then, they dispatched the news to the others.
“Hey! He’s not wearing any armour!”
“What!? He’s not wearing any armour!”
“Head Guard, the target does not wear any armour!”
“Oh… Then let’s throw something at him!” Head Guard Cui said.
The guards that were a bit closer to him started picking up and throwing rocks. When there are no rocks, they started throwing the things that they brought like their weapons. When they entered the residential area, they picked up stuff like baskets, fruits, and eggs.
Just as predicted, most of them missed. But in about one out twenty throws it will hit Yuan Bao Shang.
* Thud… *
A small rock was thrown and hit Yuan Bao Shang’s left waist. He fell, but quickly get up and started running again. But because of that, the gap becoming much shorter now.
* Thud… *
A sword scabbard hit Yuan Bao Shang’s right shoulder. Fortunately, it’s only the scabbard and not the sword. Otherwise, he would already die. But, because of the hindrance, the gap became shorter again.
* Thud… *
An egg hit Yuan Bao Shang’s back. It was only an ordinary egg, but a hardening Qi imbued within. It made the egg as hard as a diamond. Furthermore, it was Head Guard Cui who threw the egg. Yuan Bao Shang coughed up blood because of it.
Finally, after that last hit, Yuan Bao Shang was caught. He cursed at the fact that he gave his armour to the fake Yu Liang.
If he wears his armour, the stuff thrown will not do any damage, and he would not be caught. The more he remembered about how those things hit the body parts that could be covered by armour Yuan Bao Shang gets angrier.
Head Guard Cui pushed Yuan Bao Shang to the ground before the other guards captured him and threw him to the prison.
As he walked into the prison for interrogation, Yuan Bao Shang glanced at Qian Hui. Yet, his eyes wavered and could not keep it still.
[Qian Hui, how scary… He faked his death, so he could infiltrate Silver Hands Owl and easily play as a double spy! He made a bet and took off my only protection. It was all within his calculation! No wonder, he’s Feng Ao Xiu’s bodyguard!]
[If his bodyguard was this scary, how would the master be? Feng Ao Xiu is a person you don’t want to mess with.]
Qian Hui sighed. He hasn’t made any plan to capture Yuan Bao Shang yet, but he already ran away. Anyway, Yuan Bao Shang was taken, so it all works out in the end.
However, what makes him happy was the armour he has in his hands. It was well known, all members of the Silver Hands Owl steal a lot. As a result, most of them were wealthy, Yuan Bao Shang dares to make a bet of 100 gold taels prove it. So, Qian Hui chose to take something that would be more valuable, the armour. It must have cost at least 200 or 300 gold taels. He could not wait to sell it.
***
“Yes, certainly this was a good armour, but the real value is not as high as 100 gold taels. At best it’s only 5 gold taels. Plus, it’s already worn down… and have many scratches. Furthermore, its usefulness was already reduced… by more than seventy per cent.” said an appraiser.
“In this condition, it will be lucky if you could even sell it. Our auction house is willing to buy it for 2 silver taels, how about it?”
“…”, Qian Hui.
[F*ck! I should have taken the 100 gold taels bet instead!]
