…So, after letting him drink the potion, he was completely healed.
“Hey, hey, he’s completely healed.”
“…Isn’t this an advanced potion?”
“Girl, are you sure it was okay to use this? Wasn’t it meant as a backup for emergencies?”
“No, no, it’s fine, really.”
“Is that so… Well, then it’s fine. But uhh, what a waste…”
He mumbled something and walked away.
Hmm, what should I do next?
“Kuro, are you going to continue?”
“Nuh-uh, I’m done today.”
“I see… Well, shall we go watch Arisa then?”
“Yes.”
Let’s go and find Arisa.
First, over there… Ah, there she is. Wow, they’re really going at it.
Arisa was skillfully using the gauntlet on her left arm to block and deflect her opponent’s attacks. She’s not just using it as a shield; she’s also using it to strike back. Looking at it this way, her fighting style was quite rough… and intense.
Oh? Come to think of it, the sword she’s using isn’t “Feather” but the other one she’s been using for a while. Why is that? Huh? Looking closely, her opponent was Rad.
…I see, Arisa mentioned him before, but he does seem quite strong. From what I can tell, he relied more on skill than brute strength. Occasionally, he used his elbows or feet when in close combat, and he even threw in headbutts.
Hmm, I can’t help but feel that his fighting style is somewhat similar to Arisa’s.
Even though I’m focused on watching, there are times when I lose track of Arisa’s movements…
Hmm, judging by the reactions of the surrounding adventurers, it seems that some can see her clearly while others, like me, can’t. People of a certain age seem to have a better grasp of it, and among the younger ones, only a few, maybe? …I see.
Oh, it seems Arisa is starting to be pushed back.
She’s narrowly avoiding attacks and deflecting them with her sword and gauntlet, but it looks like she might be pushed to her limits… Oh no!
Crash! Thud!
…Huh? Oh? Ohhh? Arisa had her sword at Rad’s neck as he kneeled… did she win?
Uh, let’s see, I think Arisa’s sword was deflected along with her right arm, and her sword flew out of her hand… then, Rad swung his sword to the left, probably planning to follow through with a diagonal cut… but Arisa used the momentum from her deflected sword to step in with her left foot and, like, compactly twisted her body, delivering a short uppercut to Rad’s chin, or at least that’s how it seemed…
And then, she pointed “Feather” that was on her waist at Rad, who had fallen to his knees. Well, I say “pointed,” but she didn’t actually draw it. It’s wrapped in cloth for safety.
“Phew… So I lost.”
“That was really close.”
“I never expected such a powerful strike at such close range… I’ve been defeated… Ugh.”
“You better not try to stand up yet.”
Despite the intense battle just moments ago, these two were having a pretty casual conversation.
After picking up her deflected sword, Arisa offered a hand to Rad, lent him her shoulder, and then walked over to where I was.
“Hmm, Rad, could it be that we’re from the same martial school?”
“Huh? I did think our fighting styles were similar… Same martial school?”
“Yeah, my family is the Hamilton.”
“I see… Well, in that case, we could say we’re from the same martial school, but strictly speaking, we’re not.”
“What do you mean?”
“My sword technique was taught to me by an acquaintance from a long time ago. That person was probably a disciple from your school. I vaguely remember the name of the school being Ham-something.”
“Who was that person?”
“He’s called Gabras. He claimed to be the fourth son of a minor noble.”
“Hmm, I don’t quite remember them…”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah. Well, besides my family, there are others who can use our sword techniques, so it’s possible they learned it from someone else. I can’t say for sure.”
“I see… My knees are acting up again. He never taught me that technique you used.”
“Well, it’s sort of like a little secret technique. Plus, it’s not that big of a deal, and if you really wanted to, you could imitate it, so it’s not that impressive.”
“Can you teach it to me then?”
“Nah, no way! Practice it yourself!”
“Well, that’s a shame. Oh well, I’ll have to try various things.”
“You do that.”
Well, there are quite a few things I could comment on, but, yeah, let’s not go there. I don’t want to stir up any unnecessary trouble.
“Oh, Ren, is Kuro done yet?”
“Yes, we’re already finished.”
“Is Kuro going to do more?”
“Not today.”
“I see, then let’s head back.”
And so, that’s how it went. During the day, Kuro had scout training, and after returning to town, Arisa and her engaged in mock combat in the arena, making it a fulfilling day for the two of them.
Kuro’s scout skills and reporting abilities had also improved quite a bit over the nearly one week of training. This makes it a good time to consider moving on to the next town, perhaps?
As for me and Lily, well, we haven’t really improved in anything specific.
However, because Arisa and Kuro have been busy with their mock battles, Lily and I have taken on the responsibility of preparing dinner. It would have been nice if this helped improve Lily’s cooking skill, but she already had Cooking at Level 4! In all honesty, she’s already at a professional level! Me? I’ve already maxed it out.
…What if it becomes a strange tradition that mages in this clan have to be good at cooking? That could be a problem…
Though I say that, I’ve actually been conducting various experiments on my own. No, it’s not part of my daily routine; it’s more of a serious endeavor.
Thanks to all the Goblin nests we’ve been clearing out, we’ve gathered a large number of Goblin corpses and magic stones, so I’ve been thinking about ways to put them to good use… in various ways.
Oh, I’ll provide more details on that later.
Right, even though Kuro used to stick to me like glue, it seems like she’s suddenly become more independent and now sleeps alone in her room. In fact, even during our normal daytime activities, she doesn’t cling to me as much anymore.
She used to be like a pet cat that becomes overly clingy once its owner returns home.
Well, it’s a bit lonely, but if I look at it from the perspective of Kuro’s growth, it’s probably a good thing, I guess.
And… having some alone time is quite appreciated! Unrestricted free time…! Wonderful…!
Huh? What am I going to do with my free time? Hahaha, don’t ask, it’s embarrassing.
