Notebook of Fortune - Chapter 55
It wasn’t easy for Shen Zhe to leave the campus.
He sighed and shook his head.
“Thank God it will only last for an hour, or I would be exhausted by using this look!”
He had thought that staying handsome would be wonderful, but he changed his mind once he walked out of the school.
Sometimes, handsomeness was a crime!
Girls were flocking to see him. There were even guys who said they loved him…
How could he train under such circumstances?
He finally got rid of the crazy fans and found a decent clothing store.
He bought a few changes of clothes and wore one of them, making him look even more handsome by the way the clothes fitted him.
The clerk who fetched the clothes for him passed out in excitement when he smiled at her.
After he paid for the clothes, the dull air was ripped apart by thunder, and a heavy storm poured again.
“A thunder…”
The thunder meant that he could enjoy lightning strikes again.
However… The box where Cui Xiao kept his lemons was not around…
“It doesn’t matter. All I need is a piece of long ironware…”
Looking around in the room, Shen Zhe soon found something.
“Are your pole and your hangers for sale?”
The pole in the clothes shop was made of iron. The hangers were made of fine steel, too.
“Well…”
The boss was stunned, not knowing why Shen Zhe would buy those. However, Shen Zhe had bought too many things, and he didn’t want to refuse requests from such a customer. “If you want them, you can take them for free…”
“Thank you…”
Shen Zhe took a pole and a dozen hangers. Tying the hangers on the pole, he strode into the storm.
“Handsome, it’s pouring outside. Here’s an umbrella…”
The clerk who had woken up ran out with an umbrella, only to find that he was nowhere to be seen.
The handsome guy was no longer there.
“He left…”
The umbrella fell on the ground, and the clerk was at a loss.
…
He needed to be struck in the rain; umbrellas were of no use to him. His new clothes were covered in oilcloth and wouldn’t get wet.
Shen Zhe rushed out of the city.
He had caught a lot of attention when he wasn’t laying now. He didn’t want anyone to notice him when he illuminated the stars with lightning.
Otherwise, it would be impossible for him to explain.
Since his veins had been restored, the brilliant power of the stars flowed incessantly; their power supported him, melting him into the rain.
Hu!
After a long time, Shen Zhe finally left the city. The high wall of the city loomed in the darkness under the heavy storm, just like an unshakable mountain.
“This is the place…”
He placed the package with his clothes on a tree branch. Then, he raised the pole high above his head in an empty environment.
Hualala!
The dozen hangers shivered and vibrated like flags.
“Lightning, be more violent!”
Crack!
A lightning bolt struck Shen Zhe and drowned him.
…
“Your Highness, a storm is going on outside, and your body is too weak…”
An armored guard was anxiously holding an umbrella for the princess.
“It’s fine. I’m just checking the city wall of Green Abyss to see if it needs broadening…”
Xiao Yurou shook her head and reached the top of the wall.
She only had three months left to live. The only thing she could do was to consider everything that could be considered to repay her father’s love.
In the pouring storm, Xiao Yurou reached a tower on the wall and looked at the city.
All the houses were brightly lit by candles and lamps.
The dynasty had been established for hundreds of years, but it was still stable and prosperous. Everybody lived a happy life.
Her father was truly a magnificent monarch.
She then looked outside the city. Mount Thorn protruded from the ground like an enormous crouching dragon, imposing a heavy pressure.
The guard suddenly called, “Your Highness, look. What’s that?”
Looking at the place his finger was pointing at, Xiao Yurou saw a handsome man in a black cloak walking out of the city.
He was too far away for her to see his looks, but his manners were so impeccable that he looked like a deity from the sky.
“What… is he doing?”
Xiao Yurou frowned.
He left the city without an umbrella in such a storm. Was he planning to commit suicide?
While she was puzzled, the stranger had placed a bag with things on a branch and then lifted what appeared to be an iron stick.
“Is that… a weapon?”
Although Xiao Yurou was too weak to pick up any technique, she knew a lot about cultivation. It was even safe to say that even His Majesty couldn’t compare to her in terms of theoretical knowledge.
However, even she couldn’t tell what weapon the stranger was holding!
“Your Highness, that’s not a weapon. It’s a pole and a few hangers…”
The guard blushed.
The princess had special maids who took care of her clothes. She had never seen those things.
“Pole and hangers?”
Xiao Yurou was stunned.
“What is the guy doing with those things in the heavy storm?”
“Was his house out of water? Does he want to use rainwater to wash his clothes then hang them to dry?”
“Look, Your Highness…”
The guard was also wondering what the stranger was up to. Just then, a lightning struck down rapidly.
“Not good. He’s killing himself…”
Xiao Yurou changed her gesture and trembled.
She had always respected life because she couldn’t live long. She couldn’t hold back anymore once she saw that someone was committing suicide. “Go rescue him!”
Before she finished, however, she saw that the man in black didn’t collapse after being struck by the lightning. Instead he appeared even more magnificent than before.
“Light up now!”
BOOM!
A powerful aura rose to the sky!
Sensing the aura before his eyes, the guard couldn’t help but remark, “He’s not killing himself. He’s… illuminating the stars!”
As the princess’ guard, he was already a level-one Mage and was highly sensitive about power.
The person in the distance was disguised by the storm, but he didn’t cover his strength to attract the lightning. His magnificent aura could be clearly perceived.
Before he attracted the lightning, he had the power of two stars at most, but after the lightning struck down, it seemed that three stars were illuminated.
“He’s using lightning to illuminate stars?”
Xiao Yurou was stiffened by the thought.
Her body was too weak for her to illuminate the stars. She had tried all the traditional methods, and a lot of novel ones, but none of them had been successful.
As time went by, she had already given up.
She thought that her death three months later was inevitable, until she saw that someone was illuminating the stars with lightning!
Could she adopt the same approach?
It could possibly break the shackles of her body…
In that case, would her fate be changed?
BOOM!
The man in black was still under the storm while embracing the lightnings falling from the sky. Then, his aura increased to four stars!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
After each lightning strike, a new star seemed to be shining in the man’s body.
Five!
Six!
In only ten breaths, the guy had illuminated six stars. The power of the stars sprang to the sky, indicating that he might soon have a breakthrough.
“He’s indeed illuminating the stars with lightning…” Xiao Yurou shivered. One star might be a coincidence, but four stars had definitely proven the theory.
She gave a command in a hurry, “Bring me brush and paper…”
“Yes, Your Highness!”
The guard left in a hurry and soon returned with paper and a brush.
Listing the equations and formulas, Xiao Yurou began to calculate.
After a long time, she looked at the answer on the paper and clenched her fists.
“It’s indeed possible…”
By her estimation, it might indeed be possible for her to avoid her fate by illuminating the stars with lightning!
“Where’s the expert?”
She looked down from the wall; there was nothing but the heavy storm.
“He seems to have left…”
The guard found no traces of him, either.
“What are you waiting for? Go and search for him…”
Xiao Yurou gritted her teeth.
“Yes, madam. I’m on my way…”
The guard jumped off the wall and ran out of the city.
Half an hour later, the guard returned to the wall gloomily. “Ninth Princess, forgive my uselessness. I’ve searched ten square kilometers outside the city. There was nothing except this piece of soaked paper under the tree…”
“Paper?” Xiao Yurou accepted it.
It was a paper that was full of handwriting, but the words had been blurred by rainwater.
“Why does this paper look familiar?”
Xiao Yurou was shocked.
