- Chapter 338: Returning To The Broken Mansion
The monsters seemed more at ease in doing his orders compared with Antoan and his men.
The moment Antoan reached the outer perimeter of Nara’s home, he easily spotted his master surrounded with giant and very familiar faces of monsters.
And that scared the sh*t out of him.
“What’s that all about?” Antoan jumped out of his car and shouted in panic.
“Calm down,” Bloom couldn’t help but smile, “they are with me.”
“You can now summon them here?” Antoan pointed at him with shaky fingers.
“You saw people using game abilities here and you were shocked by some monsters?” Bloom shook his head, “c’mon, this is nothing compared to the war that happened here.”
“What war?”
“You just missed it,” Bloom pointed to the road they came from, “but it’s not safe here anymore. We need to go back to my place.”
“But…”
“I already sent Nara there,” Bloom said with some urgency, “I have no time to waste here. Many things need my attention here and back there.”
Antoan gave him a suspicious look before waving his arm, “let’s go back then,” he said, “but you owe me an explanation.”
“No I don’t,” Bloom sneered and then gave the order to his group of monsters to move. The monsters’ speed wasn’t any inferior to a racing car, making Antoan and others feel ashamed of being behind.
The journey back to his home had to cross many streets. It was a dark night, but it wasn’t that hard to spot those giant monsters and the man riding on top of one of them.
Bloom even noticed the flashes of cameras taking photos. He knew this wouldn’t be covered no matter what, so he decided to go out in public.
“If this is going to be known worldwide, then I need to establish my power before anyone else does,” he said to himself while watching more flashes coming from everywhere around.
He even heard many police sirens, but no one stopped him. He was quite sure whoever was on the other side watching what was happening right now in the police and authorities would be wise enough not to intervene in this.
Who would be sane enough to stand against such a giant formation of alien monsters? Especially when they followed the instructions of one man to the letter.
It didn’t take him long to reach his house. The big mansion at the outskirts of the city was now lying in ruins in some parts. Fire still rose from some places while he saw the army of monsters he sent here securing the area.
“That’s a scene to behold,” he told himself, trying to see the silver lining in all this. He knew he lost a lot, and what he lost most was precious time to be prepared.
But he got things in return. He now knew he had a mark on his back. Those dark forces inside the game already started playing dirty here in the real world.
They started to pull some strings and create their factions. “If they can do it, why can’t I?” he tried to encourage himself by saying this. If they wanted to fight him then he would give them hell in return.
“You made it,” Nara ran from the other end of the broken mansion before throwing herself into his arms. She was stressed and distressed by what happened and she got all the right to feel so.
Yet what touched his heart was that she found peace in his arms, something he could share with her while holding her and feeling the warmth of her body.
“You are safe now,” he slowly said to her while passing his fingers through her hair, “I won’t let anything bad happen to you.”
She moved slightly away from him, letting him see her running tears over her cheeks. He moved his fingers to clear these tears away before smiling.
And she smiled back.
At this moment it seemed the world was entirely revolving around the two of them. It was like there was no one else out there but them.
“What about… Peri,” she sniffed while wiping more tears from her eyes.
“She is safe,” he said while taking a wide tour around, “but this… it’s a total mess.”
“I know,” she chuckled while gazing deeply at him, “what do you plan to do?”
“Well… They managed to get me twice so far and I hate being hit like that,” he gave her a meaningful glance that slightly worried her.
“You… plan on resisting them?”
“That’s what I do best,” he grinned, “find any obstacle in the road and smash it with my own fists.”
“But…”
“It’s risky, I know,” he touched her arms trying to calm her down, “but I promise they won’t get to me before I get to them.”
She could only pray he was right. As for him, he never doubted this was his destiny from the start.
He was someone who wasn’t supposed to be here. At this moment he even doubted that his bizarre choice to take revenge on this game was also destined to happen.
But for someone who was on the other side of the screen playing as a hopeless NPC despite having soul and thoughts, he knew exactly how to deal with those bastards while he played the role of a player.
And a human.
“What are your orders now?” Antoan approached him while he noticed someone hesitating to approach him.
“What happened to her?” Bloom motioned to Liza.
“She… got a call from her dad,” Antoan slowly said, “this hit… it didn’t only happen to us.”
“What?!!” Bloom and Nara were shocked to hear that.
“Some other places got hit as well,” Antoan said before turning to Liza, “and from what I felt from her, every single place hit she already knew about.”
“Damn!” Bloom could only say that while feeling hesitant to go to her.
“Don’t,” yet as he was about to move to her, Nara held his arm and stopped him, “let her deal with it first before talking.”
Bloom saw a serious glance over Nara’s face, like someone knowing how to deal with such situations.
“Alright,” Bloom decided to follow her lead, “gather every single player we can get.”
“Player?!” Antoan was taken aback, “aren’t we supposed to summon an army or something?”
Bloom turned around, “this is our new army, this is how the new world looks like.”
And his answer didn’t give Antoan any sense of satisfaction.
