Number One Under Heaven - Chapter 107: Going to the Holy Continent?
Somewhere in the Holy Continent, an old man was surrounded by dozens of disciples, each with a dumbfounded expression on their face.
What did they just witness? Where the hell did that random zither play that sounded like heaven singing beside their ears come from?
The old man had an even more retarded look on his face. His cultivation was at the Golden Immortal stage so he could understand more than anybody there. That zither play just now sounded like something only his Young Master was capable of creating!
This old man was precisely Lao Bao, the first individual Tian Yi had met after coming to the Mortal World.
He did not know why, but he had this feeling in his gut that told him that heavenly zither play just now was played by his Young Master, Tian Yi.
It has been more than ten minutes since the zither play had stopped, yet nobody was able to snap out of their daze.
Whatever they had just experienced was way too shocking for them. Each ripple that passed through their body had shaken their soul and boiled their blood with emotions.
Each note was profound, even hiding more mysteries within it than their hardest to grasp cultivation technique.
Each ripple was also immensely powerful, so powerful that nobody there was able to block it from bypassing their defense, allowing it to enter their body with ease.
The disciples finally began looking around…. only to become even more shocked.
What are these illusions behind their back? They could even see the figure of their fellow junior apprentice-sister behind one of their senior apprentice-brother.
Some had treasures as illusions behind their back.
Some even had the same illusion as the person next to them!
“Senior apprentice-brother, didn’t you lose that treasure last year because you forgot to bring it with you and left it in a restaurant?”
“Senior apprentice-brother, isn’t that junior apprentice-sister Ping whom you have admired ever since you caught sight of her?”
“Senior apprentice-sister, isn’t that Little Black, the Spirit Beast you lost last month?”
“Junior apprentice-sister Ping, t-that’s Grandpa Lao… don’t tell me you…”
“What?! No! I respect and admire Grandpa Lao with all my heart, but it is definitely not that feeling!” The girl surnamed Ping cried out loud.
“W-What does this mean? What are these illusions behind us?”
Everybody began pondering.
“L-L-Look at Grandpa Lao’s illusion…” somebody suddenly said, his voice trembling.
“That’s the Empyrean God!!!”
Everybody recognized the face that had a church build with this exact face as its holy symbol.
It was Tian Yi!
The girls began drooling again and the boys began turning angry.
Because of the emergence of this Empyrean God, almost all the girls within the Sect had decided to live their life devoted to him whilst knowing that they will never have their dreams fulfilled.
“D-Don’t tell me Grandpa Lao also devoted his life to…” the disciples swallowed their saliva upon realizing such possibilities.
Lao Bao frowned when he heard that. They were right about him being devoted to him, but their tone was strange… it made his skin tingle upon hearing it.
“Grandpa Lao, do you have any idea about these illusions behind us?” asked the disciples.
Lao Bao instantly shook his head, “All I can tell is that they have something to do with you… your feelings, perhaps…?”
“The illusion behind you are indeed stemmed from one’s feeling,” a clear voice resounded from afar.
Everybody there turned their gaze to see a young lady with fairy-like features walking towards them, and behind her was a large group of females, each of them having the same illusion behind them… The figure of the Empyrean God!
“….”
The disciples there were dumbfounded at fast but quickly restored.
“Greetings, senior apprentice-sister Yun!” they all said in unison.
The young lady leading the group of girls was precisely Yun Xiuying, the prideful daughter of the Yun Family, the current ruler of this World of Clouds!
“Does senior apprentice-sister Yun know about this phenomenon?” someone asked.
Yun Xiuying nodded, “It is annoying to explain it all, so I will just simplify it for you. Whether you are aware of your feelings or not, the Song of Truth will drag out the things you attach your emotions to the most. Be it hate, love, jealousy, trust or doubt, it will take the form of whatever you have the most emotion towards,” she said.
“….”
The place turned quiet for a moment.
“That song… it was called the Song of Truth?” someone broke the silence.
“Yes; it is one of the most mysterious music under heavens,” she replied.
Turning her gaze at Lao Bao, she sent him a message with her Divine Sense, “Senior, his highness is truly talented, no?”
A cold sweat appeared on his forehead, “Of course, who do you think you are talking about?” he replied, his voice filled with pride.
It has been quite some time since this Yun Xiuying from the Yun Family had stayed here, and from what he sees, she is getting more and more suspicious.
The church she made for his Young Master is attracting followers faster than honey attracts ants. It was at a truly terrifying pace.
Every once in awhile, she would come ask him weird questions about his Young Master; one example being how was his health faring and such like some worried housewife.
If he didn’t know any better, then this woman was definitely lusting for his Young Master! He must keep his Young Master’s location a secret and keep him away from the claws of this woman at all cost!
Yun Xiuying, on the other hand, already knew which Continent Tian Yi was located in.
She had known since the day Tian Yi had gone mayhem within the Phoenix’s Continent. The only reason she was still here and not there looking for him was because she had already told herself that she will wait for him patiently.
Her stubbornness was not only for show and she will keep resisting until the end. It was also pretty fun here, recruiting and whatnot.
Now with his zither playing, it would be a miracle if she didn’t know where he was with her high cultivation.
“So? Any news from his highness about when he will arrive?” she asked Lao Bao.
“N-No. There has been no news from Young Master,” he said.
“Is that so?”
Yun Xiuying returned back to her little church after that, leaving the crowd dumbfounded again.
“Senior apprentice-sister Yun is so mysterious. She is so knowledgeable and beautiful, yet why would she go out of her way and do something stupid like making a church for some random guy in a picture?”
“Hah, ever since her arrival, we males have been getting more desperate by the day…”
“….”
The males turned silent.
Somewhere deep within the Jin Long Continent, a massive pair of golden eyes as big as a small mountain flickered with shocked.
‘This monster… I already knew it the day I laid my eyes on him… he also butchered that perverted old phoenix Feng, which I have to thank him for if I ever get the chance to…’
The massive pair of golden eyes slowly closed as it listened to the music, ‘Is it a fortune that he’s a disciple in my Sect… or is it actually a disaster in disguise?’
The eyes closed, disappearing into the darkness.
Back at the Heavenly Fragrance of Pure Flowers, Tian Yi slowly opened his eyes with a content smile hanging on his calm face.
Standing up and surrounded by silence, he walked towards the owner of the zither with a gentle smile, “I hope you all enjoyed my song as much as I enjoyed yours…. here, I know you probably don’t need me to tell you this but keep taking care of it, it’s a good treasure,” he said to the girls standing in front of him with frozen expressions.
Tian Yi held out the still trembling zither in front of his chest. Instruments are not supposed to have emotions yet the zither in his hand right now had exactly that.
Anybody that saw it could clearly tell it was happy, extremely happy.
The owner of the zither could only stare at her zither that was glowing like some ancient artifact.
The girl did not move not because she did not want it back, it was because her entire arm had lost it strength after listening to that song, rendering both her arms useless!
Thud.
The girls’ legs finally lost its strength, and she sat on the floor like a someone who just experienced a devastating defeat in battle.
Tian Yi squatted down and placed the zither on her laps before turning around to look at the girl still sitting on that jade chair.
The owner of the zither managed to lift her head with her remaining strength to look at the owner of that ordinary-looking white robes.
Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.
Her heart began beating like drums.
The ordinary-looking back suddenly looked extremely bright and colorful.
It was not only the owner of the zither, even her fellow apprentice-sisters had similar feelings.
That ordinary-looking young man had started to look extremely dazzling in their flickering eyes!
Tian Yi gaze landed on the illusion behind Tang Yi, it was a handsome young man with a heroic aura surrounding him.
“That’s the spring of your confusion, that’s all I have to say,” he said before walking past her and jumping off the stage.
He had no interest in who that handsome young man was with his goal only being to show her what her confusion was, and now that he had accomplished it, he no longer has anything else for her.
Tang Yi did not react to his words, and she did not look back.
She only continued to sit there frozen like an ice statue, forever frozen in time.
“Wanshan, Qiu Heng, there should be nothing left here to see, let’s go back,” he said to them while looking at the illusion behind their back.
Xuan Wanshan’s illusion was a figure with a blurred face. The figure was wearing the exact same robes as the outer court disciples from the Profound Dragon Spirit Sect. It had the same height as Tian Yi, but the aura around the figure was noble and mysterious.
An apologizing smiled appeared in his heart upon seeing that. That figure was obviously him… his true appearance.
The blur on the face was because Tian Yi’s entire entity was a mystery to her— from his background to the person himself…
‘I should tell her more about myself when I have the time…’ he thought.
The illusion behind Qiu Heng was actually one of the girls on the stage, the one in the middle who held a pipa in her arms. Tian Yi’s eyebrows slightly lifted when he saw that. Why was she a part of his ‘truth’? Were they acquaintances?
Whatever their relationship was, he was not interested, so he returned his gaze to the person themselves.
“Y-You want us to leave now?” Xuan Wanshan was the first one to snap out of her shock because of her build up resistance that was born after getting used to being shocked to death by him.
She looked around at the silent room where a few hundred pairs of eyes stared at him with their eyes popping out of their eye sockets.
She swears she saw a few heads missing its jaw… but she could be wrong because it was only a quick glance.
“What, we can’t?” he asked with a confused face.
Why can’t they leave?
Qiu Heng woke up while shaking his head.
“Y-Y-You want to just leave them hanging like that after what you had just done? Are you the devil?!” he cried out.
Tian Yi frowned.
He was called a devil! What did he do to deserve to be called a devil, something he does not have a favorable impression on.
“You want to leave?! Over my dead body!”
A fierce and threatening voice echoed within the room, waking many there from their shock.
The people in the room turned their gaze to the door to see an old woman blocking it.
The overbearing pressure around the old woman directly shook the souls of many that had a weak cultivation, some even collapsing directly.
“Whether you like it or not… you will be coming to the Holy Continent with me!” she shouted while stomping on the floor, materializing a chain made from Spirit Power around Tian Yi, binding him!
Tian Yi looked at the chain that wrapped around him like a rope… an indestructible rope, and he looked at the old woman with a calm face.
“What’s the meaning of this…?”
His voice was calm, void of any panic or concern.
