Obey Me - chapter 124
“It is the most powerful magic that Valabriga has ever created. I think it was made to kill the legend.”
“This?”
“It took five days just to prepare it. Mana was endlessly needed, so the wizards died in a rush. It also sucked up the vitality of the capital. It’s a shame because it’s compressed, and if it was just spread widely, it’s powerful enough to blow up a number.”
“……”
“Can the legend be saved?”
After Rubinia said that, she went somewhere.
“Ugh, ah, ah, ah!”
At that moment, the Emperor raised all her strength and gave off an energetic mana. And the magic that had shaken the space like a thunderbolt with a popping sound until now, Swept away the Emperor’s scepter and the light on the floor (magic circle) in an instant.
At that moment, Kyrie felt her eyes met with Nathaniel beyond the magical statue.
He stood on the cliff with sea in the background, staring at her, holding his beautiful white sword as it’s master. He looked desperate and sad, with blue eyes that are painful and cruel.
When she first met Nathaniel, she thought his eyes were as clear and transparent as ice, so inhuman. But now that she is facing him, he is revealing the emotions inside him without any filtration.
Suddenly, Kyrie realized.
Live or die, he will never appear before people’s eyes again. That rugged, endangered species that suits winter well, will suddenly disappear somewhere as if he had never come. So he decided to carry the future eternity alone.
For his world, Kyrie Buchanan.
[……]
For a brief moment, his eyes, as beautiful as the deep sea, trembled as if holding back something. His lips trembled as if to say something. Kyrie unknowingly waited for his words.
But Nathaniel soon shut his mouth and gave a languid, playful smile.
He’s like the king of the cold winter.
“Natha……!”
A golden light pierced her eyes. Kyrie tightly closed her eyes at that sight.
***
At that time, Cesar Buchanan was inside the Buchanan mansion. Nathaniel told him ‘I’m done’ and left the mansion. Cesar Buchanan was relieved to hear that. Kyrie did a great job. Now all that’s left to do is to get it all right.
Then, suddenly, the door to the office opened.
“It’s a big deal! Mr. Nathaniel went crazy!”
It was MarryAnne who pushed the door open. She ran into the office with an anxious and impatient face. Cesar put his papers down immediately.
“What are you saying?”
“It smelled bad! It will be dangerous! The lady has entrusted her headmaster to Annemarie!”
“Are you telling me to believe what her maid says now?”
It was the moment Cesar answered with her stern face. There was a big earthquake. No, the thunder was loud enough to be considered an earthquake. Reflexively, the eyes of the two men turned toward the window. A dark cloud enveloped the palace.
Cesar’s straight eyebrows furrowed.
‘Is something wrong? No, he wouldn’t, but…… It would be a good idea to prepare in case I don’t know.’
He immediately got up after grabbing some paperwork.
“Go by wagon.”
“Yes!”
MarryAnne nodded her head and followed Cesar. He hadn’t seen MarryAnne behind his back harden her face coldly.
***
A long time after the light disappeared, Kyrie opened her eyes.
The basement, which looked like a grand chapel, was devastated. The magicians were scattered like uprooted weeds around the still ominous light. Kyrie was the only one standing there.
“Huh……, uh, uh……”
The Emperor panted with her weight on the scepter. Her body, which had changed like a shriveled corpse, turned her skin brown in colour.
“L, Leg…Legend…?”
She murmured and gasped for her breath. She didn’t even have the energy to raise her head. Kyrie looked at the mirror that had not yet disappeared. As the smoke cleared, a landscape was revealed that she could no longer call a cape. Nathaniel was nowhere to be seen.
Unknowingly, Kyrie approached the magic mirror and scanned Cape Phobe thoroughly. there was nothing.
“…….lie.”
Kyrie muttered involuntarily.
“Nathaniel can’t die……”
“Did he?”
The Emperor shook her head.
“Did he die…? dead…..?”
The king approached the mirror. The wizards waiting at Cape Phobe seemed to be saying something, but they couldn’t hear it.
A few minutes passed as the Emperor’s green eyes licked the mirror thoroughly. If he had pretended to be dead, it was time for him to come back to life and surprise people. But Cape Phobe was quiet for a long time. It was a calm landscape with the sea rushing in the broken ground.
Slowly, the victor’s joy appeared on the Emperor’s face.
“I……, I won……I! I won! I defeated the legend! I mean, I killed the legend!”
The Emperor stepped on the corpses of the wizards and began to dance.
Kyrie took a step back from her madness she felt in her. Her child’s revenge? It’s not like that. The Emperor never once brought up Julia Orewinbridge’s name. What is the power that she wants to have until she becomes such a disgruntled person, what is a sense of superiority? In the sense that such a person is at the pinnacle of power, Kyrie felt a stench that she had never felt before. It was such a stinky smell that it was similar to the smell that Nathaniel would have the whole time.
“Weird……, energy……!”
At that moment, a voice was heard intermittently from beyond the mirror. It was the voice of a wizard who was out in Cape Phobe.
“Black thing…..!”
Behind the magic mirror, a wizard pointed towards the sea. The dancing king and Kyrie looked at the place involuntarily. And she was not surprised but hardened in shock.
The night is coming. The sunlight disappeared as if it had been cut with a knife (eclipse). The land was turning black from the sea. It was pitch black darkness that seemed unlikely to exist in the natural world. It squirmed on the floor and started crawling towards them with terrifying speed.
“What is that……?”
It was the moment the Emperor opened her mouth. The black thing suddenly accelerated and touched the feet of the nearest wizard. A commotion arose from the wizards beyond the mirror.
“….!”
At the scene that followed, Kyrie covered her mouth with her two hands.
Darkness crawled over the wizard’s body like a swarm of locusts. The wizard screamed, wiping his body like a man who wanted to get rid of worms, but it was to no avail. Soon his whole body was covered in black. It was unrealistic black as if only that part had been painted over with black paper.
Soon, the wizard’s movements ceased. He just disappeared into the black, a wriggling thing. At the end of that, the magic mirror was also scattered. The final sight in the mirror was a scene of darkness crawling fast and low toward the capital.
“…….”
“…….”
The Emperor opened her eyes and lifted her body. She looked lost in her words. It was the same with Kyrie, but she was a little different. She muttered, feeling dizzy.
“End… .”
The Emperor’s head turned quickly. Green eyes glistened with an irrational light.
“You……You know what that is!”
The Emperor immediately approached Kyrie and grabbed her by the neck.
“Tell me what it is! I wonder if he’s coming here now!”
It was so strong that she couldn’t even think that it was a skinny body. The Emperor put her scepter under Kyrie’s chin.
“Say it! Tell me what’s going on with the Legendary Lord! I brought you here to use you as a shield, maybe….!”
“Oh, wait a minute. Will you please stop?”
Then, a loud voice interrupted the two of them. Kyrie and the Emperor looked at the voice at the same time. At the end of her gaze was Rubinia. She was approaching with a hatchet over the fallen wizards.
(T/N: hatchet- a small axe with a short handle for use in one hand.)
“…..Miss Rubinia?”
Kyrie and the Emperor looked puzzled at the same time. It was a very odd combination of Rubinia, a hatchet, and a smiling face. Rubinia, on the other hand, did not stop her cheerful, annoying grunts.
“Ha, I really didn’t want to do this……. Anyway, it’s true that the legend saved me, isn’t it? Besides, I can’t live on debt again. What if the legend asks for a favor? Even Kyrie Buchanan needs to be protected. You have to thank me.”
“What are you talking about right now…..”
“Of course, it’s not just that. I’m a princess at best, but the Emperor is crazy, not even human, it means she’ll eat the wizards until she dies, right? So when am I supposed to be queen? It’s annoying to mess around with a piece of shit like Eden, so I have to live with you while crouching for the rest of my life?”
“……Did you say ‘you’ to me now?”
The Emperor was so surprised that she asked with a blank face. Rubinia nodded her head softly.
“You said that with your own mouth. I’m from the countryside, so I don’t have anyone to serve nor to command. Hey, do you know what makes it different from the city? Whether the floor is rough or smooth, what’s the point of knowing such a thing? (it means that they even care about trivial things) And will you take responsibility if I have a scar on my face?”
Rubinia spoke restlessly, and she approached the Emperor. She smiled for a moment and remained silent, and the King also kept a close eye on Rubinia’s hatchet. So, there was a little bit of a skirmish.
“I knew this, you cheeky bitch!”
The Emperor quickly pointed the tip of the scepter at Rubinia.
“I knew it, so I cast a spell on you! Pay for the sin of putting your teeth on your master with your life!”
The Emperor’s scepter flashed.
However, nothing happened.
Rubinia snorted and threw the ring studded with green gem to the floor.
“Are you looking for this? Yeah, you told me to wear this fucking thing?”
“How……!”
The Emperor’s eyes widened. Rubinia smiled softly and raised her hatchet cutely.
“Ask the Legend in Hell, Your Majesty!”
Rubinia vigorously swung her axe. The Emperor reflexively held out the scepter in her hand, and the scepter hit with an ax was cut in two at once. Then, the magical energy that had nowhere to go ran wild and a huge light was emitted.
“Hiek!”
The Emperor collapsed and vomited a lot of blood again. At the same time, a sound that seemed to suck the wind above her head resounded with a deafening volume. As the medium between the magic and the caster was broken, the gate began to collapse.
“this……you ungrateful……!”
The Emperor reached out to Rubinia with a blood-soaked scepter. Rubinia managed to avoid it and hid behind her in her Kyrie.
“Now what?!”
Rubinia was irresponsible and cheerful, but she cried hastily.
