Office Diaries - Chapter 173
Slowly, Peter’s lips traveled from Anjee’s palm to her wrist and kissed the sėnsɨtɨvė skin there. She remained open-mouthed as she watched her beloved’s mouth travel from her wrist up to her arm. When his breath fanned her neck, she shivered as she closed her eyes.
“Anj?” she heard him whisper against her ear and when she opened her eyes to look, Peter was staring at her face, his almond eyes glinting with an intensity she couldn’t fathom.
“Anj,” he called out again, and just like a mesmerized child, Anjee watched as his face descended upon her, his lips locking with hers.
At first, it was a gentle peck. It was as if Peter was hesitating with his actions. When Anjee did not protest nor move, however, his lips locked with hers once more, this time, bolder and more aggressive, using his tongue to pry her mouth open, demanding entrance to her sweet cavern.
“Hmmmph…” Anjee whimpered as she indulged in the sweet kiss.
Her mind went blank to everything else aside from the delicious taste in her mouth. On the other hand, Peter’s brain sang as his hands clung onto her for dear life. The writer’s hands had started roaming on her skin, sending shivers down her spine as he was brought into a heady state of arousal.
“Anj…” she heard him whisper as his mouth left her lips and transferred to her ear, biting her soft, sėnsɨtɨvė lobe there, making her body tremble with dėsɨrė.
Somewhere, she heard the sound of a zipper being opened and she gasped upon feeling Peter’s hand cupping her there.
“Pe…ter…” she breathed in as Peter’s hand left her and she felt herself being lifted and consequently laid down on the nearby sofa.
With Peter looming over her, their hɨps against each other, their passion-clouded eyes met and their breaths held as they processed what had just happened. The two of them, aroused and overwhelmed with their emotions leaving them teary-eyed.
“Anj, I love you…” Peter whispered as he gently smiled, lifting his fingers as he did to touch the corner of her lips which was bruised from their intense kissing. “I love you. Do you love me?”
Peter’s voice was like a ċȧrėss in Anjee’s soul. Her heart overflowed with love, her love for this man who was holding her close. With her heart in her eyes, Anjee opened her rosy mouth to confess her feelings. “I…I l-lov – ”
The sudden sound of the doorbell startled the two on the sofa, making Peter fall on the carpeted floor.
Who the hell…
Peter was infuriated. Who the heck was this moronic ȧss who dared disturbed his moment with Anjee? His love was about to say something to him! Frantically, he stood up and turned to Anjee who was hurriedly fixing her clothes.
“Anj,” he called out but the other was ignoring him. “Anjee you were about to tell me something?” he asked as he grabbed onto her hand to make her stand still. “Anj!”
His commanding voice made Anjee stop and look up at him. “Y-Yeah?”
“My question Anj. You still haven’t answered me,” Peter reminded her and she swallowed.
She was feeling very nervous now, but she knew she had to give an answer. Opening her mouth, she was about to utter her love for this man when the doorbell rang again, this time, it didn’t stop with just one ring.
Ding dong! Ding dong! Ding dong!
Closing her eyes, Anjee sighed. “I think you should answer the door,” she said in frustration and she watched as Peter’s face darken as he turned away to answer the door.
Judging from the writer’s movement, the way he kicked on thin air as he turned, she knew he was angry. But there’s no helping it. She wanted to tell him how she felt when there’s no interruption.
“Eric!” Anjee heard Peter exclaim upon opening the door and she sighed.
The newcomer was Peter’s cousin who was working at the writer’s publishing company as an ȧssistant editor. Knowing the young man, she knew that she and Peter wouldn’t be alone for hours. The cousin had a habit of hanging out at the house eating his way into Peter’s refrigerator’s contents. Since Anjee went shopping for Peter the day before, she knew that Eric would stay for a long time.
Gradually feeling disheartened, she walked towards the doorway where the cousins were standing. She would go for now. It was after all already time to meet up with the agent from the record company. Nearing the two, however, her brow knitted. The cousins seemed to be arguing – or better yet, Peter was scolding the younger man.
“Hey Anj,” Eric who didn’t seem to mind that he was being talked down greeted her when he saw her walking towards them.
“Hi,” she greeted back casually, as she bent down to fix her shoes.
Since she didn’t want to talk right now, she opted to ignore the two and be silent as she wore her footwear. Eric who seemed to get that she wasn’t in for a conversation turned his attention back to his cousin whose expression Anjee didn’t know. She didn’t dare look at Peter.
“Big Bro, give me the manuscript,” she heard Eric say.
“Why are you the one picking it up? Where’s Tohru or Jun?” Peter asked, and based on his tone, Anjee knew he was irritated.
“Chief James is busy all day in a meeting. Jun’s busy making a reservation at your favorite restaurant,” Eric answered happily. “You asked her for a lunch date today, right? So don’t get annoyed with me,” he continued which made Anjee gasp audibly.
Peter was in love with someone else. Maybe… Maybe he was just experimenting earlier with her. After all, he was finally going out with someone he liked and what could be the better way to learn how things go than practice it with your best friend, right?
With her hands balled into fists on her side, Anjee stood up and pasted a false smile on her lips. “Well, I’m going now,” she said.
“Anj! Anj, wait!” Peter called but she ignored him as she hurriedly went outside.
Peter saw the bewildered look on her face and he knew that she misunderstood. He wanted to run after her but his younger cousin blocked his way.
“The manuscript,” Eric prompted and Peter cursed under his breath as he turned away and stomped back into his room.
