Office Diaries - Chapter 184
“I think for questions like that, it’s better to ask your sister directly,” Mr. Lee suggested, and the matter about Ami and romance was dropped.
Soon, the car reached their destination, and the couple waved them goodbye in front of the hotel. Actually, it was more like they shooed them like flies with smiles on their faces.
“I’m sorry. My parents are so silly,” Yanee apologized as they drove back towards Ami’s place. “They praised you when they didn’t know about us, but suddenly treated you like a criminal ready to kidnap their little kid in broad daylight when they knew we’re dating.”
“No, they’re not— and there’s no need to apologize. They just love you, that’s why they had to be strict on me,” Tohru said with a naughty glint in his eyes as he glanced at her from the side. “Besides, I’m really here to kidnap their little kid.”
“Hey!” Despite the darkness of the night, the light from the streetlamps and cars they passed by illuminated Yanee, and there was a telltale blush on her cheeks..
Tohru wanted to make her blush more, but considering she had experienced too much today, he restrained himself. “If they didn’t care, it’s more worrisome, don’t you think?”
“Well, you have a point,” Yanee agreed as they arrived at Ami’s apartment complex and parked at one of the spaces allotted for Ami.
Ami had five parking spaces she paid for so it’s easy for guests to park and for her service vehicles to come and go whenever needed.
“What time will you be going to the salon with your sister?”
“We’re booked in the morning. Ami had to go to the convention center to man her booth in the afternoon. She said she had clients to have a meeting with at the expo too. Why did you ask?”
Tohru hesitated for a while, but decided to tell her. “Big Bro Henry and Big Sis Kim are in Tokyo.”
“Really?” Yanee was not expecting this. She thought she had to fly to Beijing to interview the couple.
Tohru snorted. “They surprised me too. They never told me they are connected to the expo so I was not expecting them.”
Kim and Henry Song owned the corporation called HS which produced high end products like clothing, cosmetics, jewelries, and shoes. Charlotte, the clothing brand under them was included at the expo. The couple came to Tokyo to supervise the setting up of display of gowns, dresses, and suits popular in formal events such as weddings in person.
“Aren’t they the bosses? Why did they have to come in person?” Yanee was confused. Normally in a corporation handling different companies, each one had its own executives. Henry who owned and was the CEO of HS Corporation didn’t’ have to come personally to attend an expo even if it was a big one.
“Actually, I think they came here for your sister,” Tohru said meaningfully which made Yanee more confused. “They want her to handle their wedding, I think.”
This time, Yanee’s eyes widened. “What wedding? Aren’t they married already?” They even had three kids.
“They are married, but they just registered. They still haven’t had their wedding ceremony with all the shebang,” he answered.
How come? Yanee was very puzzled. She could remember the couple when she met them at the party Big Sis Jisoo set up back in Seoul. Just like the others in Tohru’s circle, the two truly looked like a couple in love. Even at that time she was still pessimistic about romance, she could tell that they were so much into each other by how they acted and glanced at each other. In fact, among all the couples in the group, Henry and Kim Song look so in love with each other the most.
Did she read the atmosphere between them wrong then?
Seeing her troubled and confused look, Tohru reached out and patted her head.
“Don’t worry. They are so in love with each other. You were not wrong,” he said as if reading her mind.
“Then why—” Yanee wanted to ask, but Tohru placed a finger against her lips, barring her from speaking.
“Don’t ask your questions right now. Keep them all for tomorrow,” he said.
“Tomorrow?”
Tohru nodded. “I asked for your schedule because Kim will be available for the interview if you can do it.”
“Of course, I can do it,” Yanee said. “After the salon appointment with Ami, I’m basically free to work.”
“Is after lunch convenient for you? Or would you like to take a nap first?”
A nap? Was she a little kid? But before Yanee could speak, Tohru decided for her.
“I’ll bring her over around three in the afternoon.”
“But after lunch is really fine,” Yanee said but he shook his head.
“You’re going to the salon with Ami. Didn’t you book the full beauty treatment?” The full beauty treatment included spa and massage. “For sure you’ll feel tired after. You should take a little rest before doing the interview. In any case, Big Sis Kim will be hanging out at the expo with Big Bro Henry before I take her here. It will give her enough time to at least meet with Ami.”
Tohru would be introducing the Song couple to Ami Lee at the expo tomorrow while Yanee rested so there wouldn’t be any problem.
“Do you want me to tell Ami about them? She’s a but swamped so it’ll be better to let her know in advance so she can take time to meet them.”
“If it’s not so much trouble, then yes, please. But if Ami has tons of things to do we’ll just check out her booth at the expo.”
“Of course, it’s no trouble. Besides, it’s business. Ami wouldn’t mind,” Yanee said with a smile and Tohru leaned over to give her a kiss.
This time around, Yanee did not shy away. She was clearly getting used to him although she as still a bit shy on some aspects of romantic relationships— things that she didn’t want to think about for now.
Slowly, but surely. Yanee wanted to fall in love with Tohru like that.
The kiss ended on a sweet note.
“You don’t have to come up. Ami’s already at home. For sure she’s already resting. I’ll just see you tomorrow, okay?”
Yanee tried to get out of the car, but Tohru had quickly gotten out to open the door for her like a gentleman. With a boyish grin, he bent down to steal another quick kiss before going back inside the car, and Yanee watched his car go with a smile on her face before she went back up to the apartment.
