On Our Wedding Night, My Comatose Husband Kissed Me! - Chapter 31
Chapter 31 Resignation
Fang Xin was a person of action. As soon as she received funds from the Qin family, she went about opening the factory. She left home early and returned late. Even Bai Ping asked Fang Tong, “Has Fang Xin not been home lately? I haven’t seen her for days.”
“My sister has been busy with site selection for the factory, so she left the house earlier,” Fang Xin explained. “Mom, my sister would like me to be a designer for the new company. What do you think?”
Fang Tong studied fine arts in university. In the past, she would intern at the Fang Group’s design department every school holiday. But she was different now. She’s now the daughter-in-law of the Gu family, so she had to consult Bai Ping about this matter.
“This is a good thing,” Bai Ping agreed readily. “Tong, your sister only has you as her family now. The two of you must help each other and stand together. Besides, we women must have our own careers. We can’t just rely on others.”
“Mmm, given what you said, I’ll definitely work hard and show you good results!”
Fang Tong was now in her third year, so the pressure on her studies was not that great. However, she was the vice president of the school’s Art Club. She handled recruitment, training and other routine tasks. Now, she was going to become a designer for a new company, so her position at the Art Club has to go.
After thinking about it, Fang Tong decided to return to school and resign from her position of vice president of the Art Club.
“You want to resign? Fang Tong, was there any conflict between you and the club members? Just bring it up. We’ll discuss and find solutions. Don’t resign!”
The president also knew that much had happened at Fang Tong’s home this summer. When school started, the incident of Fang Tong and Feng Yueyue arguing in the cafeteria was a hot topic on campus for several days.
Also, recently Fang Tong had been sent to and from school in luxury cars. Gradually, rumors began to spread that Fang Tong was a kept woman. Therefore, the president believed that Fang Tong’s decision to resign and quit the club was due to negative gossiping among club members.
“You misunderstood. It’s entirely for personal reasons that I resign.”
Fang Tong explained, “I’ve found an internship and most of my energy will be spent on this new company so I can’t take care of the work at the club. In order not to disrupt normal operations of the club, I think it’s better that I resign.”
“But you don’t have to resign! How about this? I don’t have many classes this semester so I’ll take over the work that you’re usually in charge of. You just need to produce some daily board reports and design drafts, and you don’t have to sign in everyday at the club. Is that okay?” Fang Tong frowned. “President, I’m afraid that’s not appropriate! I don’t want to get special treatment at the club.”
“How is that special treatment? In the past few years, if it weren’t for you, our club would have been dissolved by the school a long time ago.”
That was true.
The Art Club was different from other clubs at school where sponsors were courted and won by arranging performances. Members who joined the club needed to have a certain level of talent in art. Moreover, for normal operations, the club relied on prize money club members painstakingly win by participating in major competitions. Those slightly famous competitors were not willing to join the club, and neither were the unfamous ones.
Therefore, the school had tried several times to merge the Art Club with other clubs. However, it was Fang Tong who turned the tide. Not only did she contribute money and effort, but she also represented the club and took part in many competitions all over the country. She would win prizes every time too. And this gradually built the club’s reputation.
Many newly enrolled students also joined the club because of Fang Tong. If she left, those members would leave the club as well.
“Alright then! I will try my best to take care of the club.”
