One Idiot Three Wishes Unlimited Chaos. - Chapter 36
The kingdom was coming together beautifully. The garbage that littered the streets has been cleaned up. The streets themselves have been repaired using earth magic. Simple houses have been made for people to live in. Some people tried to riot and cause trouble but they were quickly culled into new undead troops.
We don’t deal with bullshit like that. It’s annoying. The majority of the people saw me in a good light. I mean over the past couple weeks I’d pretty much remade the city and fed everyone.
There were still some problems though. There was no farmers so there were no crops. There was no dungeon so there was no monster loot. There was a shortage of meat. People can’t live off fruits forever.
I myself was suffering from a shortage of money.
So what we did first was solve the crops problem. This was simple. We had earth mages till the land with magic. Volunteers would help spread fertilizer. The mages would mix the ground again. I had purchased some of those little two wheeled grass seeders and had them filled with crop seeds while volunteers walked the field letting them seed.
One more turn of earth from the mages and a shower from water mages and we were done. There of course would be people who did weeding and made sure to check for diseases.
Next problem to fix was there was nothing to sell. These people lived off war and there were no wars. But even if they were able to participate in war they would probably be destroyed easily. They didn’t have money to afford to hand out things like grimoires or loads of spirit weapons. We had a few properly geared mages and fighters.
The rest all used the busted ass armor and weapons that have been passed down for years.
I had a couple thousand knights and guards buying them working iron weapons would be reasonable buying them armor would not. Even my own zombies used iron still.
The Knights I had killed in the castle had been looted of their armor and weapons and would be melted down into ingots and sold off or reforged. However there was zero chance I’d be able to equip everyone.
The next problem was the mithril mine. Sure we owned part of a mine but we had no proper miners. I mean I could send earth mages but if they make a single mistake they get buried alive under dirt.
I had worked out a deal with father in law and he would provide the workers in exchange for more metal which was reasonable I suppose. I didn’t want to worry about it so I just agreed.
Silvia being the lovable rascal she is and enjoying combat stuff started to retrain the Knights and guards of the kingdom.
The troops were bitter about it until she destroyed them in single combat over and over and over.
Sasha was working in the shadows killing off people like bandits who had been hiding out in the city trying to take advantage of people.
I’d literally closed the city gates so that new filth wouldn’t be able to get in. The city was on lock down until Sasha solved the pest problem. She was able to use the 7th squad at her disposal as those guys knew she was my companion and her words were my words.
Up next I had made a giant wooden warehouse. Inside were big vats. I had hired people to help make moonshine as we needed stuff to sell I had stock of a couple thousand I could use to sell for now. But we would need a lot more.
I could buy the ingredients in bulk from the shop for a good price and sell the finished product for almost 100 times more.
Father in law easily agreed to trade deals on the booze as he knew how good it was he even provided guarded wagons for transport of the goods.
He would help me out by sending out letters to other kingdoms and mediating deals.
This worked out well. Most were offering trades of meat, cloth, crops or other items i sorely needed. They would have to come and get the booze themselves as stipulated as I had no way to transport goods.
I don’t even think we have horses? “Kroft do we have horses?” I ask the lazy lich.
“Nah the troops ate them a long time ago in a harsh winter.” he says flipping through his book.
Well that answers that.
Nothing I could do on that part right now.
In other news being a new father to a 4 year old little girl is strange. Especially in this world I’m supposed to be teaching her etiquette and other noble crap. But I’m not.
I taught her how I was taught.
Cartoons. I had a TV and DVD player in my internal world. We would watch those educational cartoons together which she really enjoyed. I had also gotten her a little playground and toys to play with. While I was working she would spend time with mom and Cassie learning to read and write or playing fun games used to teach her things. I’d make sure to spend time with her each day. It was apparently the most fun she’d ever had.
Since everything was now running smoothly. I had absolutely no idea what the fuck to do. We just had to basically wait for supplies to come in then repeat the process.
“So what am I supposed to do as a king exactly?” I ask Silvia.
“Well usually everything is handled by a council which you don’t have. Then presented to you for consideration. Your main job is to make sure your people are living well.” she tells me.
“Why don’t I have a council?” I ask.
“They were knights you killed off.” she explains.
“Ah right.” well shit.
I scratch my head for a minute.
“So do I just nap or something?”
