- Volume 1 Chapter 31 My Escape Successful Yet Unsuccessful
Waking up with a banging headache, I stood up, looking at the door to my right. Yes, today was the day. The day I could finally escape.
I put my shorts, shirt, boots and backpack on in less than 10 minutes. Tying up my hair into a high ponytail, I ran out through the door, strutting and exuding confidence, still blending into my surroundings.
The dragons were unusually quiet today, every single dragon in my view lay quietly in shackles sending an aura of danger, which failed to scare me unlike everyone else. After all, if I were to be afraid, how could I escape?
It was still dark in the cave, probably 2 in the morning, so not many candles on the walls were lit therefore making the atmosphere feel dangerous. I wasn’t scared. Not today, not ever.
Whipping out my map, I began to trace my steps, looking out for anyone or anything suspicious that was to follow me. The best exit was in the dungeons, I know, ironic, but it was at the far end so I had to be extremely quiet and weary of people in the cells.
Speeding down the stone cold stairs, I soon reached the entrance of the dungeons, which was marked with a skull etched into a dark granite door 3 meters tall. Pushing it open, I purposely made my footsteps lighter, and closed the with a light squeak.
There were rows and rows of cells with big granite doors only openable with a special key, however I wasn’t planning to open any. It was so overwhelming, like a hell under a hell. What did these people do to be here, how did they get here? Are these even people? My mind rushed to get mindless thoughts into my head but I ignored them. I ran at top speed for about 1km on the rocky paths of the dungeons, under a mouldy roof and in a clammy and cold atmosphere.
To my releif, I could finally see the door in sight.
I took out all my supplies, keys I found, special stones I found lying around in his room, anything and everything. Stashing away my map and taking out a small candle and lighting it up, I was greeted with the most beautiful structure on earth. The door wasn’t granite, no. It was a glowing purple colour under the light of the candle with hundreds of letters scribed onto the door of an old scriptural language I definitely couldn’t understand.
With all my strength I could muster, I pushed the stones into each crack and hole, which they fit perfectly in, and tried every single key until I found the one.
Click!
The door opened.
Suddenly, I was sucked into a black space, with no control of where I was going and no strength to bring myself back, I let everything go. I didn’t even try to fight it because it was like being forced into a black hole, a never ending world of, nothing other than hell.
Not long after being sucked into space, my body fell on what seemed to be soft ground; but then, my sight was blurry from travelling at such high speeds in such a darks space. I fainted.
I don’t know if this was a dream, but it certainly felt real, and even more so when I woke up.
