The second level was full of strange beasts. Ezio remembered that the strongest ones at this level were a sphynx and a basilisk. It was the perfect stage for his pandas to test their strengths.

“Look!”, another employee stuttered. “Look what this one is doing!”

They all watched towards one panda who defeated a huge spider. The panda looked towards the spider and had a thoughtful expression. After that, he transformed his whole body into wax and surrounded the dead body of the spider with it.

After a while, the panda transformed back, but the spider was gone. The panda had a huge smile on his face.

“What did he do to that spider?”, an employee asked. Then his jaw dropped to the ground. The panda started to transform and spider legs came out of his back. Did he look like a spider panda?

“He… He absorbed the monster!”

They watched in horror at the spider panda who told his new discovery to his fellow pandas. After that, the group of pandas that attacked the west side of the prison all started to absorb the monsters they defeated.

All of those pandas became hybrid monsters!

“We have to call our superiors! These pandas are more dangerous than we thought!”

Before he could call them, something strange happened. A little panda sneaked into their room without them noticing anything. The panda was so little that nobody could see him. He started to attack the employees from behind and all of them fainted.

The little panda had a grin on his face. “The panda king will be happy with my accomplishment. We conquered the brain of this underwater prison!”

The little panda looked towards the transponder snail that contacted Hannyabal. He had an idea.

“Do you have some news about the intruders?”, Hannyabal asked threw the transponder snail.

The little panda tried to sound like the employees. “They started to attack the second level, but the monsters were too strong for them. Most of the pandas were defeated, so I don’t think you have to take action. I will inform you if something new happened.”

Hannyabal laughed.

“What were those fools thinking? They wanted to free more prisoners on the second level, but do they think Impel Down is a joke? These beasts one the second level are strong!”

“I will inform you after the panda rebellion was defeated, sir. But I don’t think they will survive the second level.”

After that, the call ended. The little panda started to laugh. He looked towards the screens and was shocked when he saw that some of his panda brothers developed a new ability. So they could absorb beasts and gain their power?

The little panda looked towards a transponder snail in front of him. Then he tried what his fellow brothers did, and started to absorb the little snail.

After he finished, a little shell started to appear in his back. The little panda got the power of the transponder snail!

“This new ability should be useful for the mighty panda king. With my new abilities, I should be able to connect with his transponder snail…”

Back on level 2, Ezio, also known as the panda king, got a call.

“Who is it?”, he asked.

“My lord, here is panda 197. I have something to report.”

“Oh, number 197. I suppose your mission was a success, how could you connect with my snail?”

“It’s a long story, my lord. I conquered the monitoring room, so that should give you more time until they realize that something is wrong. I have something urgent to report to you. The pandas with the number 1-100 developed a new ability. They started to absorb the beasts on the second level and gained their power!”

After the call, Ezio was shocked. He knew that his pandas had the power to develop, but they all could take different routes in the way they gained power. They weren’t only beings that were created with wax. He started to fear his pandas… Did he create a never before seen panda race?

He couldn’t think further because a sphynx and a basilisk stood in front of them.

“Alright my fellow pandas, you have to defeat those two guys!”

The panda army started to attack the beasts. They all could control wax and if someone got injured, they could regenerate if Mr. 3 gave them some wax. Their bodies were a little bit like Majin Buu from Dragon Ball Z.

It took them a while before they could defeat the two strongest monsters in this level. The panda king walked to one panda who contributed the most to this fight.

“You were strong. What is your name?”

“I’m panda 287, my lord.”

The panda king nodded. He pointed towards the two defeated beasts on the ground. “Try to absorb them, number 287.”

The panda nodded and started to absorb the sphynx and basilisk. After that he could transform parts of his body into those two creatures, his overall strength improved tremendously. Ezio was shocked, it was true, his pandas could absorb other creatures!

“How do you feel, number 287?”

“It’s strange, my lord. It was easy to absorb the first one, but after I tried to absorb the second I had the feeling that I wouldn’t survive it…”

The panda king thought about this. So there was a limitation on how many things the pandas could absorb. With this new discovery, he had a lot of plans to improve his panda army in the future.

“Number 287, you are one of the first commanders of the panda army. Lead your fellow pandas to glory and don’t disappoint me. It’s time to visit our brothers, we have to go to the third level.”

After that, the pandas gathered together. The group that defeated the monsters in the western part of the level all absorbed some beasts. The group that went to the east defeated the monsters without absorbing them, so they were still wax pandas.

Ezio saw that everyone who absorbed a beast could transform themselves into those beasts. He decided that this group of pandas should form their own division. He called them the beast pandas – the leader of this group was of course panda 287. He absorbed the strongest beasts in this level.

“We will go to the next level. Follow your king, panda army!”
