- Chapter 3 Jode's Bloodlust Is Enough To Paralyze?
Jode climbed to the top of the hatch and stepped out onto the deck. A blast of salty wind brushed his hair back as he waited for Koby to climb up with him. He took the time to take a glimpse at the large deck surrounding him, his calculating eyes taking everything in.
The deck was filled with numerous people who looked both scruffy or dressed like hobos, leading Jode to guess without too much effort that these were the Alvida pirates. They were all carrying various crates and packages from another set of stairs and transporting them over to a much smaller ship situated next to the passenger ship.
While Jode was taking it all in, Koby stood up from the hatch and walked up a bit timidly to stand beside him. It was clear that he dodnt want to be standing next to Jode but, he was probably confused about which side to take. On one side was a group of vicious pirates who would probably think that he had turned traitor and on the other was a psychopath who would easily kill him without a second thought.
“That’s him guys, the one who killed John, he’s a demon,” A voice shouted that caught both of their attentions. They both turned to see the tall blond pirate motioning to every pirate within earshot. “He killed him without so much as a ounce of mercy, and with his bare hands.”
Almost every eye on deck turned to face Jode, Koby quickly backing up and hiding down the hatch. The air was quickly filled with a boiling bloodlust as all the pirates began to set down their stuff, some even pulling out their weapons. Everyone began filing towards them with looks of anger or looks of determination.
“What are you all getting mad for?” Jode asked as the gand of pirates approached ever so closer. “Don’t act as if your any different, your pirates after all!!! You do stuff like this amd consider it another day at work….dont be such hypocrites!!” He lowered his hand and unhooked the stolen sword from its belt.
“Stop right there you maggots,” a rather masculine voice rang out. The deck began shaking a little as a rather large figure parted its way through the crowd. “What do you think your gawking at? Get back to work!!”
The figure turned out to be a woman and a rather ugly one at that. She was an obese woman with wavy black hair and freckles on her cheeks, dressed in a sort of cowgirl outfit that did nothing to his her many rolls of fat. The most notable thing however, not including her immense size, was the huge iron club that she was carrying behind her.
“Lady Alvida, captain this man murdered one of our crewmates in cold blood.” The tall blonde man said, timidly approaching the tall woman. “He didn’t even hesitate or show any mercy while doing it. He could be a bounty hunter, or even a pirate from a rival gang.”
The large lady who had been called Alvida looked over Jode who was standing there looking a bit scrawny in red sleeveless shirt, blue pants, and a old looking straw hat. She would’ve laughed had it not been for what she saw in his eyes. A cold indifference void of even a hint of fear, coupled with an unmistakable bloodlust as he stared at her, as if marking her as a target.
Silently gulping, Alvida took a step forward, her club at the ready. “Who are you kid? A passenger on this ship or a a pirate? If your a passenger, I’d like you to join my crew and in exchange we’ll let you live. I could use someone like you in my crew.”
“And if I’m a pirate?” Jode asked, already seeing through her plot. If he joined her, then she would no doubt attempt to kill him at every chance possible. Her stance was one of fear, and when people feared something they would always attempt to get rid of it or run away from it. If he said yes then he’d be signing his own death warrant.
“Then youd leave us no choice but to kill you unless you decided to join us.” Alvida said loudly, and every pirate on deck gave a roar, filling the air with noise. “I urge you to join, or risk dying a useless death.”
“Well actually sorry to say, I’m a pirate captain” Jode said, flashing her a smile without warmth. “So I wont be able to join your crew.” He held up the sword and began walking towards her. “The only choice for you right now is to fight. Koby, get a small boat ready and make it quick.”
“Yes sir,” Koby said in fear as he watched the young man marching up to the squad of bloodthirsty pirates. “Right away!!”
“Koby,” Alvida screamed as she watched the pink haired boy running towards the boats. “Where do you think your going?” She turned around and began walking towards him but was stopped when a flying sword impaled itself in front of her feet.
“I could as you the same question you fat obese pig,” Jode said with a cold glint in his eyes, his hands now lacking any weapons. “I thought you wanted to tango with me personally.” He sidestepped a charging guy and forcefully chopped his neck, crushing his windpipe without a second thought.
“I only want to ask you some simple questions and once you answer them, I’ll be satisfied and let you go.” Jode ducked underneath a slash and grabbed the mans wrist. He twisted the mans arm behind, forcing him to go of the sword, then pushed him towards two more guys who were rushing at him.
He bent down and picked up the sword, gazing at its sharpness. The other pirates had stopped rushing at him after seeing what he had done to the first guy, killing him with a simple chop to the throat. They were now far more cautious and less reckless now that they knew he wouldn’t think twice about killong them.
“Stand down boys,” Alvida said, slamming her giant club down in front of her. “We shall here what this man has to say and then let him be on his way.”
The other pirates seemed to be a bit relieved as they put away their weapons on Alvidas orders. They had actually been a bit scared of attacking this stranger as he was wild and his bloodlust was so high it was akin to a heavy pressure that weighed them down.
“Good, now you, the stupid looking one,” Jode said pointing at a pirate with a dumb expression. “I want you to tell me about the history of this era…but keep it in summary.”
The pirate looked stunned for a second before hurriedly rushing to tell him all about the world. It was a time known as the Great Pirate Era, where anyone who could afford to would set out and become a pirate in search of fame and power… in search of a legendary treasure known as the One Piece. The one that obtained this treasure would be known as the King Of The Pirates.
Though it was a short explanation, Jode got the gist of it and nodded his head. He had told the guy to keep it in summary and couldn’t blame the guy for the short response.
He smiled and slashed his blade across the guys throat before turning and walking away, the sound of the guy choking on his own blood filling the air. “Thanks for the information, but Ill be taking my leave now as I’ve gotten more then enough to set a goal for myself. If you try and follow me….Ill fucking kill you.” He turned his head and gave them all a cold stare, one that contained an immense bloodlust, weighing them down and unable to move.
He tirned his head and walked to where Koby was setting up the boat. “Hey Koby, you got the boat ready yet kid?” He threw his sword into the small fishing boat and jumped in after it.
“Yeah,” Koby responded. “Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll be returning to the ship.” He made a move to get off, but was stopped by a sword to the throat, preventing him from moving a muscle.
“Where do you think your going?” Jode asked with a cold smile. “I’m still in need of your service, and besides, you might want to leave with me anyways as there’s another ship heading towards us.” He raised a finger and pointed towards a large boat flying the image of a seagull on it.
The sounds of cannonfire began alnost immediately after Jode had pointed it out, shaking the water as the cannonballs missed the ships by a couple of feet. It was obviously meant to be a warning shot, a message that meant everyone should stay where they were or risk being blown out of the water.
Jode, raised his sword and took a swipe of the ropes that connected them to the ship, plummeting them down into the ocean. They managed to land safely and even managed to come out of it unharmed, but the resulting splash from landing threw saltwater into Jode’s face.
For normal people this would be nothing, just wiping it off would be fine and it would be like nothing happened. However, it was this splash of water that was like a slap to the face, making Jode feel like he was losing consciousness. He could feel himself being pushed back into the darkness as the other personality began to take over.
“God dammit,” Jode muttered in his last moments of consciousness. “Just when I was starting to have fun.” With those words, Jode was put back to sleep.
Koby, surprisingly, was actually doing pretty well, using the oars in the boat to row them away from the two ships as the large ship with the seagull on it drew closer. He was rowing as hard as he can, only slowing down slightly when he saw an orange haired girl rowing in the same direction, though a distance away from them.
It was when they were a good distance away that Jade raised his head, his sleepiness disappearing as he glanced at his surroundings, once again confused as to how he got here.
“Excuse me kid,” Jade said, getting Kobys attention. “But could you tell me whats happening?”
