One Piece Kill Or Be Killed - Chapter 5 Meetong Roronoa Zoro
“Why would you mention the name of a notorious demonic bounty hunter?” Koby asked as they walked down the street of the market. “I should also ask why you aren’t at least a bit nervous about meeting the bounty hunter.”
“Should I be nervous?” Jade asked before taking another bite of his apple. “Have you met Jode? I haven’t met him but I heard enough about him to know that he’s probably the most terrifying existence ever. Compared to that, I really can’t imagine anyone else whose a match for him.”
“While I will admit that you have a point, you can still try to show some caution when walking around.” Koby said as they neared the end of the shopping district. Before they reached the end though, Koby stopped a passerby to ask them for the directions to the Marine Branch headquarters.
The guy, the one who had been stopped by Koby, looked to his left and then his right before leaning close and whispering to the two of them. “You might not want to be headed in that direction as the Captain of that Marine branch is Axe-Hand Morgan, a ruthless man that executes people like its just another walk in the park.”
“Captain Axe-Hand Morgan?” Jade asked as he swallowed the food in his mouth. “I’m confused….arent the Marines the good guys? Why would he execute people who aren’t totally evil?”
“You guys aren’t from around these parts are you?” The guy asked, his face shifting into one of curiousity.
“Nope, we’re pirates,” Jade said, taking another bite of his apple. The apple was almost gone, but it still had a bit left, which was where Jade was taking his bites from. “Just average pirates wandering around town.”
The man looked at the two of them before cracking into a small smile. “That was a cute joke kid, but you seem much too kind and naive to be a pirate. Nice joke though!!” He turned to the left and pointed down tow the end of the shopping area. “If your heading to the Marine Base then head that way until you run into the wall. Thats where it is.”
“Thank you,” Koby said, once again pushing Jade from behind, leading them away from the man. “We appreciate your help sir.” He moved faster, forcing Jade to speed up his pace.
“Its not a problem my dear pirates,” the man said with a small grin on his face. “Just make sure you don’t do anything that’ll get you executed.”
Jade waved at the man as he was lead away by Koby who was acting like he was in some sort of rush. They travelled to the end of the shopping district before Koby finally stopped pushing him.
“Gosh, are you crazy Jade?” Koby asked with disbelief. “Why would you tell that man that your a pirate? Haven’t you ever heard of being too honest? I don’t know how it was in your own world, but in this world pirates are a bad thing.”
“Oh so you accept the fact that I’m from another world?” Jade asked calmly, unaffected by Koby’s speech as he took another bite of the apple. Chewing the piece in his mouth, Jade threw the core into a garbage can that was next to the place they had stoppwd at.
“Forget the other world bit,” Koby said in exasperation. “How come you don’t seem to be scared by anything? You claim to be from another world but you don’t seem to be panicking or freaking out!!! I can understand why Jode isn’t freaked out because HE’S a psychopath, but what about you?”
Jade tapped his chin, sincerely thinking about this question. Since the moment he had arrived here, he had felt oddly at ease, not feeling scared or confused, just feeling a kind of peace. It was difficult to describe but he felt like nothing could harm him here, which was ridiculous considering where he ended up, but it was what he felt.
“I dont know,” Jade finally answered. “I just know that I’m in a different world and that instead of being scared and afraid, wondering about what might happen to me, I should adapt and live my life. Looking at the positive side of things is a good start to that.”
Jade turned around and resumed walking, heading in the direction that the man had pointed them in, leaving Koby both amazed and more then a bit confused. Koby shook his head, before running to catch up with his rather strange new friend.
The two of them walked directly north, on the path the man had pointed them in, until they reached a large stone gray wall. The wall was about 8 feet tall and ran all the way to the left while curving inwards ever so slightly, indicating that the walls ended in an almost full circle.
“We finally arrived, I guess this is where we part ways Jade,” Koby said, actually getting a little misty eyed. “We didnt have long bu…..”
He stopped in the middle of his sentence when he witnessed Jade scaling the side of the wall. He was driven to being completely speechless when he saw the figure of Jade disappear as he dropped to the other side of the wall.
Koby, though being rather short, still managed to grab the top of the large wall after giving it a running start. He hoisted himself up and, after almost a minute of struggling, managed to drop himself of the other side of the wall. He was tired and out of breath but he turned around and prepared to rant about what he was doing when he saw him.
Tied up to a cross shaped post was a man, a man with a bandana tied around his head and a green haramaki. From all the stories and all of the rumors he had heard, Koby knew it could only be one person, the legendary demon known as Roronoa Zoro.
“Who are you?” Jade asked, standing a few feet away from the tied up man. “Are you that famous bounty whatsit known for slicing up his targets? Zoro, right?”
The man didnt say anything at first, just kept his head down, giving the appearance that the man had died as he already looked dirty and beaten up. However, after an almost full minute, the man raised his head and flashed a cold look. “Your an eyesore, get lost before I kill you.”
Koby, who had been to scared to say anything earlier, mentally slapped himself. “No don’t say that to him….god damnit.” He ran back, all the way to the wall where he stayed, hoping to become nonexistent. Even though the demonic swordsman frightened him, he was by far more scared of Jode and his intense bloodlust.
Roronoa Zoro didnt seem to be too impressed, his eyes staring at the youth who had his head down. He was about to tell him to leave once again when everything around him became colder, clearly dropping a few degrees.
Jode rose his head, his eyes flashing with a look filled with bloodlust, which quickly disappeared, replaced by an innocent looking smile. “So you must be Roronoa Zoro, its a pleasure to meet you.” His eyes scanned the body, the ropes, and the surroundings in a single glance.
“You don’t fool me,” Zoro said with a rather deep voice. “You just changed completely, who are you really?! That calculative look in your eyes and your previous thirst for blood were dead giveaways.”
“Oh? Your smarter then you let on.” Jode said, dropping his act, the dense bloodlust coming out of him full force. “My name is Jode, and I’ll cut to the chase….I want you to join my pirate crew.”
