One-way Passage - Chapter 29
Ming Luchuan drove Xia Wennan back to the hospital for review.
The pain of the hangover was still tormenting Xia Wennan, he collapsed weakly on the co-pilot, his forehead against the window. In the airtight car environment, Xia Wennan could smell the alcohol on his body, and he couldn’t dissipate it when he took a shower and changed his clothes. He could only secretly press the window open a crack.
Fresh air came in through the gap in the window.
Xia Wennan turned his head to look at Ming Luchuan, and saw Ming Luchuan driving intently, without looking at him.
He rubbed his forehead uncomfortably and said, “Mingluchuan.”
Ming Luchuan ignored him.
Xia Wennan continued: “Where’s my car?”
“What car do you have?” Ming Luchuan finally gave a cold response.
“Didn’t I drive a car when I had an accident? Where was my car?”
“You also know that you were in a car accident? You are all stupid, is the car okay?”
Xia Wennan raised his head: “My car is gone?”
“Sent in for repair.”
“Oh,” Xia Wennan breathed a sigh of relief, “I thought it was scrapped. When will it be repaired?”
“Wait for the garage call.”
“Okay,” Xia Wennan replied lazily.
When she arrived at the hospital for an examination, Xia Wennan was scolded by the doctor for drinking too much. The doctor is a female Omega, with a delicate stature, but he is ruthless when he scolds people. Xia Wennan finally got through the examination, and hurriedly hid in the rehabilitation room.
Rehabilitation treatment took an hour, Xia Wennan came out of the treatment and did not see Ming Luchuan, but Lin Shuqiu.
This is the first time Xia Wennan saw Lin Shuqiu after he was discharged from the hospital.
Lin Shuqiu made a special trip to see Xia Wennan and asked him how his recovery was.
Xia Wennan said: “It’s okay, but I can’t remember anything.”
Lin Shuqiu said, “Take your medicine on time, take your time.”
Xia Wennan nodded.
The two of them sat on the bench in the hospital corridor and chatted about Xia Wennan’s recent situation. Lin Shuqiu said that he saw Ming Luchuan going to see the director, only then did he know that Xia Wennan was back for a review, so he hurried over to see him.
“Thank you,” Xia Wennan was suddenly moved. He and Lin Shuqiu were not familiar with each other at first, but to meet again this time was like meeting fellow villagers in an unfamiliar city. The emptiness and loneliness of a big city would magnify the originally weak emotional connection, making them close unconsciously. And when he was hospitalized, Lin Shuqiu cared about him very much and helped him a lot.
Xia Wennan wanted to maintain the connection with Lin Shuqiu, so he said, “Are you free tonight? Let’s have dinner together.”
Lin Shuqiu hesitated.
Xia Wennan looked at his expression and said, “Are you free? It doesn’t matter, if you are not free, you can change the day.”
“It’s not that I don’t have time,” Lin Shuqiu said, “then see you in the evening. You can set a time and place. I’ll come over after work. I have something to tell you.”
Xia Wennan looked at him with a serious expression and said strangely, “What’s the matter?”
Lin Shuqiu has already stood up: “Let’s talk more carefully when we meet at night, I’m going back to work now.”
Xia Wennan had to get up and said, “Oh, good.”
On the way from the hospital, Ming Luchuan asked Xia Wennan, “Where do you want to go?”
Xia Wennan did not immediately answer the question. If it were yesterday, he would probably want to go to the company. At one time, he desperately wanted to return to his job and prove that he is a person with self-worth and does not need to depend on others to live.
But now, he realized that he might need a little more time, he said to Ming Luchuan: “Go home.”
Ming Luchuan glanced at him and said after a while, “Wait for me to have dinner tonight.”
Xia Wennan sat up straight: “Ah? I have an appointment at night.”
“Who?” Ming Luchuan’s voice sank.
“Lin Shuqiu, my classmate, you’ve seen it before.”
Ming Luchuan probably remembered: “Is that doctor?”
Xia Wennan nodded.
Ming Luchuan said: “Stop drinking.”
Xia Wennan raised his hand and hugged his head, and now his head is not dizzy, “I don’t dare to drink.”
In the afternoon, Xia Wennan set the address for dinner and sent it to Lin Shuqiu. Lin Shuqiu was probably too busy with work, so it took half an hour to answer Xia Wennan with a “good” word.
The rest of the day, Xia Wennan was reading books and organizing materials at home.
Xia Wennan’s academic performance has been good since childhood. He is not a student who studies hard, but he has good study habits and the ability to summarize and organize under the cultivation of his grandfather. There are many professional books in his room, and there are a lot of scientific research materials in the computer. He believes that although he has forgotten those things, as long as they have left traces in the brain, they can always be found.
Calm down and read the book for a long time at home, Xia Wennan read the time is almost up, and then changed clothes and went out to the appointment and Lin Shuqiu’s dinner.
The address for dinner, Xia Wennan chose a Chinese restaurant not far from Lin Shuqiu’s working hospital.
Lin Shuqiu came in a hurry after work, still a few minutes later than the agreed time.
“Sorry, the patient who had a bed just before get off work had a problem again.” Lin Shuqiu apologized to Xia Wennan repeatedly.
Xia Wennan picked up the small teapot on the table and poured tea for Lin Shuqiu: “It doesn’t matter, it’s not that I don’t know that you are busy with work.”
Lin Shuqiu wiped a bit of sweat from his forehead, picked up the water cup and drank the tea in it, then placed the cup on the table and exhaled lightly.
Xia Wennan hurriedly brought him some tea.
Lin Shuqiu said, “Thank you.”
Xia Wennan had already ordered before Lin Shuqiu came, and at this time the waiters began to serve the dishes one after another.
“I don’t know how the food here tastes?” Xia Wennan said casually.
Lin Shuqiu smiled and said nothing.
Xia Wennan was actually still thinking about what Lin Shuqiu said in the hospital this morning, and he wanted to tell him something, but seeing that Lin Shuqiu didn’t mean to speak up, he didn’t rush to ask. After all, he really wanted to invite Lin Shuqiu to dinner, and he didn’t want the other party to think that he was just here for that unexplained matter.
Lin Shuqiu didn’t know what she was thinking, her delicate eyebrows frowned slightly from time to time.
The two of them chatted at first, and the topic could not be distracted from life when they were studying and their old classmates in middle school. Xia Wennan, said, “Wennan, I have something to tell you.”
Xia Wennan thought: It’s finally here.
Lin Shuqiu looked solemn: “You were admitted to the hospital in a car accident that day, and a few tubes of blood were drawn for you for the examination. After the examination, some of the remaining blood samples were collected by the school students for experiments. The ingredients of sleeping pills were detected.”
Xia Wennan was stunned: “What?”
The hospital is an affiliated hospital of the medical school. Lin Shuqiu himself is still working with the director on scientific research projects. From time to time, he will go back to the school laboratory and know the result by accident.
Xia Wennan was driving alone at night. After accidentally hitting the green belt, the whole car overturned in the flowers of the green belt. At that time, Xia Wennan was in a coma due to serious injuries. A passerby called the traffic police and emergency numbers, and Xia Wennan was sent to the hospital for treatment.
After being admitted to the hospital, the traffic police department tested Xia Wennan’s blood alcohol concentration through procedures, and carried out a drug component test, but no abnormality was found. Since there are no other casualties, it is characterized as an ordinary traffic accident, and the related losses of vehicles and personnel are compensated by the insurance company.
Most of these procedures were handled by Ming Luchuan for him, and Xia Wennan just signed a few names on the hospital bed.
It was a coincidence that Xia Wennan’s blood was collected by the laboratory for the next test. Lin Shuqiu knew that the test results were also a coincidence. Without these coincidences, Xia Wennan might never know that he took sleeping pills that night .
Lin Shuqiu’s tone was a little cautious: “Do you know what’s going on? Should you call the police?”
